The main thing that’s pissing me off is the fact that I can do Alex’s power bomb, wrap my arms clear around an opponent who isn’t blocking, jumping, ducking or anything, but it STILL doesn’t make contact.

Name any block string you’ve figured out. For any character!
(Example: a commonly known block string is ryu's lk tatsu (whiffed) into throw. Another common one is Urien's headbutt (whiffed) into his throw.)
Block Strings:
Ryu- do a f.MP in front of your opponent (whiff) and as they try to counter attack, go into sweep
Ryu- lk tatsu into shoryuken. (works well if the opponent has seen you tatsu throw a million times)

Ryu- fireball into mule kick. idk why but this one tends to land a lot.

No, what I’d want is a true “VS” type game where instead of just throwing a bunch of characters together and then balancing/weakening them to the point where they are all on a even playing field is old, boring and flat out uninteresting to me. I didn’t say it needed to be impossible for one character to beat another, the only method of combat just shouldn’t be trading blows… It doesn’t mean Superman or any character has to be at all peak feats power levels.

OF COURSE the ****ing game wouldn’t be made,k from a technical standpoint it would be impossible or at the very least expensive, I’ve said as much but the average gamer or hardcore traditional fighting game player that would have problems with doing something more than remembering a bunch of button combinations and all that it could go **** themselves.

Yawn Learn to read and stop putting words in my “mouth” I did not say I don’t want Batman able to fight the Hulk I said, like Superman vs DareDevil, I don’t want Batman to be able to go toe to toe with Hulk as in able to trade blows. What I would want is a game where you would have to find other ways to defeat someone if they’re much stronger than your character instead of a played out, straight up fighting game.

DC vs Marvel in the same mold as Marvel vs Capcom is completely uncreative and boring. Capcom would love to do it so they could release a half dozen alternate versions however and I’m sure you’d be first in line to pick them up.

Far be it for me to rather have a game where the characters actually be played as if they were taken from their source material.

The East Coast DOES suck at SF. You see the same 3 people winning tournaments, and Guard Crush is no different. At least Justin, Floe, Ricky, etc. get randomed out every now and then.

They design a game that has esoteric mechanics and fiddly inputs. Sure you can learn how to play and get good. But that requires a lot of practise - ie patience. People play games to have fun. Learning is cool, but when you have a game that’s this esoteric and a community that’s insular it’s a recipe for disaster. New players will get put off and so the community will remain insular and unfriendly. it’s the same for every SF game and I bet the ‘pro’ players love it. Unfortunately these people are bad adverts for gaming; capcom has kow towed to all their idiosyncracies and the games have suffered. The game play should be about second guessing your opponent and trying to out manoeuvre him. It shouldn’t be about who can land the enormous game breaking combo first or who knows the cross up exploit instant air super cheat move that shouldn’t exist.

Capcom really are among the worst game developers alive today.

It’s a video game. Get some context. If you want to while away your life to become good at a 10 year old video game then by all means do so. Just don’t expect to be taken seriously when you miss the point entirely. Capcom could easily design things in a more player friendly fashion, but the only reason they don’t is because the pro players would have a hissy fit.

SF is a good game. It’s just made unnecessarily complex and has lots of wierd glitches and exploits that have become part of the ‘pro’ scene. I think that’s bad game design.
