Zangief players would love a durable Akuma so, so much. They’d probably express their love of the change by caressing the throats of Akuma players and Capcom developers in a rather… forceful manner.
this is SRK not capcom unity…for god sake.
whats your problem buddy?
the thing is…ken’s tick throw is a cake, easy to deal…
but Rose after-slide tick throw? Wow…she fights kinda R_Mika to me.
and now she’s a rusher, defense zoner and grappler? that already three, isn’t that too much? please…!
my main THawk can’t rushdown so i can live with that…
(coz I can accept he’s already a badass grappler and pokester)
Balancing by health is the lazy man’s way - instead of giving characters the necessary tools to fight, you go and up their HP so they can use their bodies as meatshields.
It’s a lot more fun to play a good character than a shitty one which just doesn’t die (it’s also more fun for the opponent to get smacked by you using your tools, rather than because he hit you but couldn’t deal damage).
It’s not only about balance. It’s about making interesting characters and diverse archetype. Characters that can take more punches but are slower, or ones more fragiles but faster.
Viper has 900 health, that doesn’t stop her from being top tier.
There’s absolutelly no need for new chars. You have 39 - this is more than enough. If you couldn’t find a character you like between the existing ones, maybe it’s time to try a different game.
Wait - did you quote somebody from CU ? or the first line is yours ?
You can do that without using health using other mechanics. It’s also possible to make interesting archetype characters who have a wide variety of tools. Look at Skullgirls or Guilty Gear.
Skullgirls has an all female cast (and guilty gear is quitedifferent from SF). And I don’t understand at all why health is not a good way of creating different archetypes. Again, it has been used in SF since the begginng, and is fun. The only reason against it that I can see is - my character has low health and I don’t like that.
I think is very interesting to play characters like Sim - who are very fragile and needs to constantly run away, or Zangief who can take a punch, or the solid all around Ryu.
Different health ratings is very interesting to me and creates unique characters, vagina tax is still lame though, Chun AFAIK is considered the strongest woman or something along those lines so being a female shouldn’t stop her from having average health.
I don’t think Capcom lowered Makoto’s health again just because of that though, some people actually started to complain about her being too strong in AE so maybe it’s not always the vagina to blame lol
Taking 50 health from her did almost nothing to change her lol. Just like giving it back wouldn’t matter much either; I tried many times when the Makoto thread was open to explain this to people but of course people were screaming themselves hoarse to get that unnerved instead of addressing her actual issues.
