Scrub Quotes: Capcom Unity Balance Suggestions Edition!

I just vomited up a load of odds and ends on C.U.

There’s a good chance I’ll get quoted in here. Happy to sign autographs and so on.

On a more serious note, a lot of the sensible suggestions from a system perspective appear to be following a similar trend which (in some cases) is promising. I feel the potential for system changes is by far the most interesting aspect of this update. I’m very curious to see what Capcom brings to the table there. I feel the game has the potential to be refreshed quite nicely.

I hope they only listen to the suggestions of the Japanese players. They’re the only one’s who seem to care about games balance and not buffing up their favorite characters.

I gotta disagree. You are drawing a conclusion based off of 5 individual suggestions. 5$ says that the % of good to bad suggestions among the japanese players are similar to english speaking.

Rina-chan, YES!!! Man, when I first started playing SF4, all I did was spam Pinwheel, lol. But yeah, I can tell it’s 4/20 because some of these people have to be high to think Juri’s divekicks have to hitbox or something.

Being a whiny scrub asking for silly bullshit transcends nationality, I assure you.

I’ve been saying this to everyone, including the a lot of the imbeciles on EventHubs, but no one seems to care. Here everyone is complaining about Cammy and Akuma, yet they want like 15 more matchups to bitch about later on.

I mean, the changed damage scaling will lead to some absurd damaing combos and he wants to keep unblockables…
Oh and the females chars are paying the vagina tax.
Nice to see that Hakan and Dhalsim are sharing the same health.

What a mysoginist fuck.

Every time I hear the whole “well women ARE weaker” argument. First I think “what does that matter in a game about people who can fly and shoot fire from their hands?” and then I also think of Flo-Jo who was ripped as fuck and probably could have killed any of us with her thighs (I bet her thighs are what they based Chun Li’s on.)

Moreover, that stuff is averages. Also, increased strength/muscle mass should translate into damage output, not HP. And besides that, women have higher pain tolerance IIRC. We’re also dealing with exceptonal individuals, game balance, and a fantasy world. So, uh. Lolwut.

Exactly. The whole “real world” aspect shouldn’t ever come into play. The moment someone tries to play that crap just point to Dhalsim/Seth/Blanka/Gill/Necro or any other of the freaks in SF and just be like “so about that whole ‘real world’ thing…”

I mean when it REALLY comes down to it. NONE of the characters are female OR male. They don’t EXIST and they sure as hell don’t have genitals (or armpit hair)

There was a second “nerf Akuma by making his backwards walk speed better” suggestion. Gotta love people not doing the most basic of research.

Everytime I see someone trying to apply real world logic to a game where a hobo master martial artist that can shoot fireballs out of his hands is shown fighting against…

  • A gigantic Turkish oil wrestler with red skin and blue hair.
  • An anorexic Indian man that can stretch his limbs to preposterous levels and can breathe fire.
  • A Chinese Interpol agent with what looks like horse legs.
  • A comically evil Dictator that uses Psycho power to defy gravity and has a ridiculously good dental plan.
  • A green Brazillian Beastman that controls electricity.
  • A 7ft tall super muscular Russian Wrestler that piledrives bears in is free time.
  • A dude that broke out of prison by punching through his cell wall and fights while still wearing his handcuffs.
  • A japanese schoolgirl that’s obsessed with him that somehow learnt how to copy his moves.
  • A completely naked robot/clone dude that has a spinning yin-yang ball in his stomach.
  • A guy that at this point is basically a demonic fighting god.
  • An American soldier who can create sonic booms with his arms and who’s theme song goes with everything.
    Etc.

I think I die a little bit inside.

Real life or canon aspects doesn´t really work out for a game and has mostly also a bad effect on the game balancing , I mean lets imagine there would be a female Bison character, with exact the same moves, walkspeed or framedata, they would propably decrease the health of female Bison, cause she is female. The healthbar shouldn´t be set after the gender.

Another example of a different game, the Huns in AOE2 can reach the Imperial Age, which is set from 1200/1300 to 1492, but in real history they disappeared during the Dark Ages. Or even in the Hun campaign, you can use a cannon galleon against the Western Roman Empire(At 450) or in the Spanish Campaign, El Cid has horse riding Conquistadors with guns in the 11th century, I guess these thing are there, because of gameplay and balancing reasons. And Scots winning the Battle of Falkirk is also wrong in this game.

Scroll down and go to Fighting Game.

if they remove unblockables from attacks (not grapples)

  1. it would really does pleased me…a lot!
  2. then we will see a hordes of bitches walk away from this game. and that will be really2 awesome!

Hmm, if I win that 5 dollars I could use that to buy some Ms points

Its not that I think all the Japanese are fighting game gods that always know what they’re talking about, but surely they have more reasonable balance suggestions then what we have. Yes I totally agree with you.

People forget that this is the way Capcom dealt with characters stamina since Sf2. The characters that looks bigger (Zangief, Hawk, honda) had always high stamina, while weaker looking characters (chun, Sim) lower.
There’s nothing wrong with this, on the contrary, it makes the game more interesting and diverse. I remember back in the day you had to chose between picking the big characters and had more stamina or picking smaller ones who were faster. That was really cool, unlike Mk where everybody was the same.
So, there’s nothing wrong with girls having lower stamina in SF, same how Hawk and gief moves really slow. There’s no need for political corectness.

Misogyny aside… he wants Akuma to have 1000 health? Dear god, that would be terrible.

I’d just like to say, Hi akuma mains. I really enjoyed the capcom-unity thread. I literally spent hours laughing my a** off! Some of the most clueless , irrational and downright sadistic attempts at butchering the character.
I was in the "nerf akuma brigade " and suggested a small damge nerf of 5% and keep his tools. His toolset is undoubtedly the best combination in the game and no amount of defense will make me change my mind on that. I found shinakuma204 to be a little too defensive and volcaninc to be quite reasonable. I completely understand defending your character and believe me you did have to. There were some ridiculous suggestions that would have left akuma as a stick man with 1 punch button and no specials. There were also some very reasonable suggestions buried between the rubbish.
I have no doubt that akuma will be fine and as you guys said you will find new tech inevitably!
One last thing, I thought the whole argument of “infiltration being the cause of hate” was largely true amongst most of the “troll nerf brigade” , however there was also a “rational nerf brigade” who you guys were dismissing at the beginning. Yes akuma is hard to learn and to " master " ANY character is tough. I will submit that akuma takes a lot of time but that in no way justifies an advantage once said level is reached. The last year infiltration has dominated . Mostly due to his impressive dedication to the game with skill, matchup knowledge and player knowledge. In doing so, he has shown the true potential of this character. Akuma has gotten nerfs through each update yes, but it has taken some time for his optimal style to emerge. Tokido doesn’t utilise akuma’s defensive zoning/footsie based style like Infiltration does. This style is highly effective in winning tournaments.
Volcaninc I commend you for steering the discussion in the right direction, although I got some laugh out of the entire thread.
