Lol using top 32 as a mark for skill. TOp 32 can be completly random. Do top 8s anyone can bracket their way to top 32 now and then.
@Volcanic, but Akuma is gamebreaking in the sence that he has a no risk all reward vortex of a very very strong and safe poke, actually of two good and safe pokes.
People have this crazy idea that a character’s placement on the tier list means they must fare well without thought towards the rest of the cast. Having the same skill as everyone else you cannot dominate the entire cast with one character in this game, it’s just not possible, you have to be on a much higher level than your opponents.
There are probably 3-4 match ups that are 8-2, a few 7-3s in the entire game and Akuma has nothing to do with any of them. Dhalsim, Blanka and Guile have some 7-3s in their favor but they have several bad match ups. Cammy and Seth both have 7-3s in their favor on top of a bunch of 6-4s. These guys are complaining about the wrong character.
more hilarity from aksel
Maybe thats part of the problem, you have no idea how powerful your character is, if you keep doing things that seemingly can be punished, while no top Akuma gets punished for anything but Hand to Hand pressure which is somethign they apply after their safe vortex is blocked and they are in a hilarious pluss situation!
Lol, 2frames of recovery to teleport and air fireball is nothing… haha, some compromise!
I have a high opinion, but Akuma beeing way to safe, braindead and overpowered is an opinion shared by top-top players (ah the joys of ignoring the other top players who say he’s fine, must not be TOP top enough for aksel). I guess they all belong in the scrubquotes section aswell.
Which is worse for the overall balance? 15 matches being 6-4 or one match being 8-2? I’m legitimately asking you which you think is worse balance. Perhaps you have a different view on it than I do.
I see it as this, character A has one really bad matchup and everything else is generally even. In this situation the player can choose his alt which he specifically picked because it covers that one bad matchup. With character B being 6-4 in 15matches that means that there is a good chance that character B will always be an an advantageous matchup and the opponent’s alt may even be just as bad a matchup. In this situation, the opponent has to choose to either have 4-5 alts to cover every possible bad matchup, play Character B as they have mostly good matchups and it increases chances of success, or stick with the character they normally play and always be at a disadvantage.
UC2: make UC2 can be performed using one KKK instead of inputting KKK twice (teleport and UC2 commands), input double KKK gives Akuma extra risk to lost combo when the player is nervous.**
I wish the Japan FGC would put out a new matchup list but they haven’t released one in almost a year, though there is a still actively posted thread in their moon language so I dunno if the list posted on the first page is even agreed upon. (If it is, then Akuma is considered 5.5 or better in every matchup except Ken (5-5) Viper (4.5-5.5) Yun/Yang (4.5-5.5) Dhalsim (5-5), Rufus (5-5) and Adon (5-5) EVERY other match is considered 5.5-4.5 or 6-4 in Akumas favor.
I dunno how much stock I put in that though, they also list Hakan - Sim as 4.5-5.5 in Sim’s favor.
Those 2 combined are easily bigger than EX GH knockdown removal in this matchup, also Gief got a good buff in LP SPD range and if I’m not mistaken Giefs use U2 in this matchup. That’s not even mentioning the DF throw, teleport and air fireballs nerfs from Vanilla SF4.
Akuma can’t freely push Gief back with far roundhouse anymore and Gief has a much easier time cornering Akuma.
