New movie poster!
This is possibly the first time I show up to a comic book store and enter in the “midnight release”.
Gonna go ahead and get me volume 6 and hope it does not suck ;p
I consumed this book in a matter of 20 minutes and I thought it was great.

[details=Spoiler] The whole reason I love this series is just all the video game and geek references. The whole emotional thing was good and IMHO handled very maturely in this book giving very good closure with most aspects of Scott’s life. If anything it ended like a pretty good RPG with the exact same drawn out battle of multiple versions of of the final boss and the most bad ass Chrono Trigger reference ever.
What I found amazing with it all is that everything came together in this book for me. I found that especially vol 4. and most of vol 5. were bit of a drag. Far less absurdity and more growth and seriousness kind of felt out of balanced. I’m not allergic to the latter but I felt that it wasn’t brought in as smoothly to interact with what I’ve grown to like about it.
However Vol 6. fixes all of that and creates a perfect balance between the two. Maybe it’s because despite my criticism I did want to see what happened to Scott’s involvement with all his friends and ex’s. I’ve always entertained the idea that while Scott was fighting Ramona’s evil exes, Ramona herself tussled with each of Scott’s exes and therefore was expecting a showdown between Kim and Ramona. I did have a bit of a want for Scott to end up with Kim but I loved the explanation posted earlier about moving forward and BLOM did a fantastic job keeping that relationship as it is now.
But that’s the weird thing. How I feel about Scott ending up with Ramona is the same with how he “won” her back. In a way he didn’t because she came back for him. He didn’t win her back and in some way that made the relationship less fantasy and more real. No hero worship, just dedication to moving on together.
I don’t think I’d say this book was satisfying on a pure geek level in regards to the ending, but I loved how it was satisfying in a real personal level. No “i’m going to powerlevel so much in relation to the potential and my emotional levels it’ll win the day!” bullshit like in anime; it seemed more like what if most of the more popular anime just stopped with the “The chosen one” bullshit and just did “this happens every day” stuff. The backgrounds are amazing, oh magical assistants. I enjoyed the book. Number 4 will always be my favorite though.
Too much Scott being a pussy in the last 2. Lots of blood in this which made me lol.
PS - Lots of fighting in this one. I’m not really feeling that because the best parts of Scott Pilgrim for me are all the non fighting lolz parts.
i felt the fighting dragged on a bit. lol@ all the assistants…im like wow mal really stepped up his art game. then i read the assistants part and i’m like…oh…n/m.
i went to the midnight release got free tix to an early screening of the movie. IM GOING TO BE HAUNTED BY FUCKING HIPSTERS.

Book 6 was good. I think it had too much fighting in it and O’Malley doesn’t do fighting very well in my opinion. I tend to enjoy this comic best when it’s being kind of normal and people ere just hangin out talking. When he gets to the fighting it’s fun but it’s not good enough to carry half of the book. Still I enjoyed it and I liked how it ended.
Kind of old and I’m sure pretty much everyone saw this already during E3’s coverage but this thread really isn’t complete without the video game trailer. :lovin:

It wasn’t bad, and the ending was fine, but the whiny pussy stuff got annoying in the last two volumes. And yeah, there was too much fighting in this one. Not enough lol goofball day to day moments.
The series basically had a fully upward arc in terms of art, but storywise after 4 it started to go downhill. Not enough to ruin it for me, but enough to say “this isn’t as good as it used to be”

Scott and NegaScott (what i saw as the physical manifestation of the jerk that SP inadvertently is) would team up to get Ramona back. Hell, I was hoping for anything that wasn’t “Scott levels up enough to beat Gideon and get Ramona back.” There’s tons of unique directions that O’Malley could have taken it and it’s a waste of potential to go the obvious route to me. Regardless, it was a more than decent series even though O’Malley’s action scenes aren’t that good. And Scott trying to get casual sex really turned me off on the character. Really, Scott?

I should read this. I remember I read Kickass, I haven’t seen the movie, but the comic was great! I should give Scott Pilgrim a chance, just that I hate it when loads of kids are into hollywood shit, comics first people…
Don’t forget that the animation will be on Cartoon Network at Midnight Thursday, going into Friday so it will basically come out at the same time as the Midnight screening of the movie! It’s cool if you miss the cartoon though since as soon as it airs on Cartoon Network it will be on Adultswim.com probably on Friday or so.
Going to a midnight screening tomorrow, gonna try to tape the animated version at the same time. Looking forward.
Just DLed video game today on PS3 and that joint is FIRE! Loving the Mario / Mega Man / SF / Final Fight / etc. references lol! The SFA3 “KO!” scream is even in there after you defeat a boss! :lovin:
Movie was very pimp, I’ll just leave it at that. 
The movie was AMAZING man highest possible recommendation! Look out for the Reuben Langdon cameo (Devil May Cry Dante in 3 and 4, Ken’s English voice in SF4/SSF4) and make sure you sit through the credits!

I felt the last book was the weakest but overall an awesome series.
