Considering independence is the minority voice in Puerto Rico and that we the island would stand to gain more from becoming a state than being independent, the situations are vastly different.
As it is, the Puerto Rican economy is in the shitter, if it ever became independent it would be the first nation to open the International Bank of Toilet because that’s what the island would be worth.

I’ve seen this picture posted quite a few times: It was posted as polls closed and the votes hadn’t been counted yet. They were only on that table to pile them all up and divide them for counting.

Considering how much longer people are living here in the US, I’m somewhat surprised we have as many Dems in office as we do if the elderly contingent of folks vote largely Republican/Conservative. I read somewhere that there are more kids in their teens now than baby boomers, so once they’re able to vote, I bet a lot of the policies in this country will change. But for now…
