SBO US ST QUAL SAT JUL 24, Nashville, TN GAME GALAXY ARCADE; SF4, T6 SIDE TRNY

DreamTR

If you are referring to the AIM conversation that we had, I had asked you to respond to the question so that I can reply to it later. My reply was that we did, as a matter of fact, use Japanese boards during the SBO`08 qualifier for SSF2X – Thank Shag et. al. for all of the uploads on Youtube.

I will still come through for this qualifier, but a few things concern me.

  1. The fact that it will be on ST boards in stead of SSF2X (someone help me with a shorter acronym, (maybe GMC?))boards will mean that combos will be less dangerous since the chance for dizzies lessen. It may affect the winning 3 not able to adjust accordingly if/when they go to SBO.

  2. After the first tournament ends that particular winning character will be banned from the subsequent, which only means that the other qualifying spot will only be much easier to obtain with said banned character not around.

  3. There is no gaurantee that players who only play with one character might not want to play in the 2nd or 3rd tournament even with a strong backup character. 2nd and 3rd qualifiers should be able to hold their own in these situations.

  4. Are you certain this will only be a one day event, and complete by 8PM?

  5. The $30 entry for ST will be 60-20-10-10 or will that whole thing will go towards SBO expenses, and will that be part of the $500 towards SBO expenses or separate from that?

  6. Will the winner of the 1st and 2nd tournament be allowed to compete in the 3rd tournament just for the sake of winning additional money to go towards SBO expenses. (I think it’s fair to ask, even though there should be some implied meaning, and best put in writing.)

I just wish this was more of a $100 round robin with top 3 unique finishers, but some may not like this. I can elaborate on this more, but I’ll stop here for now.

May the Best Player Win,

Chris Doyle

Chris Doyle, other than Gief neutral J. Fierce headbutt being guaranteed dizzy in SSFIIX and an ALMOST guaranteed Dizzy in Super turbo, how is there any difference in dizzyability between regions?

Chris: We just can’t have the tourney the “way” you want it, though. Some wanted 3 vs 3 picking their own teams, some wanted it another way. Everyone knows beforehand what the rules and what everything is.

It’s $30 per tourney. If you enter all 3 tournaments it’s $90. The money from that goes to qualifiers. $1500 is the minimum we are putting in no matter what. We lost money the last time this happened, and the venue needs to make money from this day. I’m just hoping we have enough for the $1500 minimum but regardless, $1500 for 3 people is the minimum.

And no, the winner of Tourneys 1 or 2 can not compete in tourney 3. What if they win? Makes no sense. It’s a qualifier. It’s $500 towards expenses to each winner.

We will be done with all three tournaments by 8pm. The arcade will have two people running tournaments and I myself will run ST. We may have a separate venue for the other games in the mall.

Not everyone is going to be pleased with the rules. The only 100% guarantees we have are that $500 no matter what goes to EACH person that WINS their ST tourneys but they HAVE TO FORFEIT that if they are NOT able to go to Japan.

We will try and raise more money for the players to go to Japan, but it’s limited. At the very least, the rules are stated already and you know the version of each game.

All of the stuff “written” is already stated in the original post.

It looks like one version so far is going to be Super Gun with Composite video on a CRT. I will be having this on test at the arcade soon and let everyone know the results. We are guaranteeing 2 setups. I will try and make a third.

DreamTR, i can lend a supergun and (Japanese) Super Turbo board for this, PM me and we can work out the details. =)

Airthrow, it’s cool, I need to use cabinets for the other two, thanks though!

I’m going to try to make this.

Sweet – we should have three from Ohio going

I hope some people decide to come, LOL…people are hesitant to come to well run tournaments but dont mind going to ones where you wait 6 hours between matches…= P

sup all

I will be making an appearance.

LOL, SBO qualifier and we have 29 replies. Wow.

I know you want a strong showing but I’m not going to complain about less comp in this case. I’d take a plane ticket by default

I’m sure it will be a decent showing

If everything is okay for me I will be there !
What is the US team for SBO, anyone know ?

Whoever wins the tournaments

edit: we’re bringing at least one Tekken player. He mainly wants to see what’s good with The Grid players who’ll be there

Ok thank you

Ghaleon, ya, but this $1500 is out of pocket, so we don’t want to lose our hat

Yeah, sorry, was thinking about it selfishly

We’ll pump some extra dough into the Grid

Economy is hurting, I would love to come to this but alas my bankroll doesn’t allow me to fly to Tennessee to play games this year. I’m scared it’ll be my last opportunity to play REAL ST in the U.S. in a major…

I just have no way of getting to TN unfortunately

Hello DreamTR is it possible to have a list of the best (decent and economic) hotels to sleep at, aswell as the areas to hang out after the tournaments ? Thank you in advance !
