Anyway I think people are really sleeping on Kirisuto…first, I heard this guy is only 15 years old but his mind is incredibly strong, both in his reading and reaction skills. I consider this guy on the level of Momochi in terms of mental toughness and overall skill.
Against the players in this tournament, I’m not seeing Wong/Marn in top 8.
I’m feeling URyo as well but not his partner Umezono. As much of a beast as he is in 3S, I just haven’t been seeing him do well in any matches in SF4. In fact, from what I heard, in the qualifier URyo won every match while Umezono lost every match. This on top of what I’ve seen from his play, isn’t making me confident in the team unless either URyo just beats everyone or Umezono has significantly improved.
I think Mago is too nasty to lose to anybody, I also think that the finalist teams will change depending on how the brackets line up. I expect a B-4/B-8 Block final to be “set up” by the way the brackets line up. I think everyone wants Mago Vs. Daigo to be the final. Round robin would be the way to go here. This is just asking for too many bizarre upsets.
a couple of Fuertes did place 7th or 8th I believe in Godsgarden, they had a good showing there hope one of them will get the last chance bracket in SBO
That’s my thing. I feel like Uryo is basically one of the Kobe’s and Lebron’s of SFIV and he can easily take any team on by himself. The way he ran through people at the game night…he’s good for that. We’ll see if Umezono ends up actually saving Uryo or just straight up wins any matches but Uryo has what it takes to basically be a one man team IMO. Especially in a format where you only need to beat each guy once to be king of the hill. Viper is one of the best characters in the game to have to sweep people in a one match format. Especially with how new the game still is Viper’s assortment of trickies and ways to set up huge damage is gonna pay off big as long as Uryo doesn’t make big mistakes. At this point the only character I feel Viper loses to really badly is Honda but this is also the same player who makes that matchup look easy in match videos.
I am going to guess that Ono will announce the 2nd version of SFIV that will include T. Hawk and Dee Jay and it will be released for the Japanese arcades in mid-October 2009.
Akimo is the biggest underdog at SBO, I think. He consistently places 4th or better at TRF ranbats with Honda, which is pretty crazy.
If he’d teamed with Mago, it would actually be pretty solid, since Mago would take care of all of Honda’s tough match-ups and Honda smacks Viper, which is one of Sagat’s more challenging ones.
