SBO/EVO QUALIFIERS / Midwest Championships (Northbrook, IL) June 20-22, 2008

Added CVS2 and Guilty Gear Accent Core.

Accent Core!!!:woot:

luigi: doesnt mean its at evo finals =) but atleast WE have it !!!

yay arcade tournament, for arcade players!

Yeah I know:sad:, but at least all my practice won’t be wasted.
AC WILL be at Evo, I don’t think Wiz wants a brick thrown through his window.:bluu:

Since there’s no qualifiers for EVO this year, is this tourney just linked to EVO in name?

No, It’s still associated with EVO, but there are other things we have not announced yet. Just no top 8 quals.

To be honest, I don’t see it being that big of a deal because of the top 8 that qualified for EVO North in each game, I think half the players never even went to EVO Vegas after they qualified in their respective game.

mwc still goes on as regularly scheduled. nothing changes this year, evo qualifier or not. since like dream said, half of the qualifiers dont make it, or they already qualified at evo east (cough…justin…cough).

plus its worth it alone, to just go for mystery tourney madness!

I’ll be there for superT 'Rog is a killa!

Dear Daddy DreamTR (EWOOOOOOOOOOO)

im not committed 100% to going yet but its looking good since im not going to go to sbo quals this year most likely…is it possible that we can run Melty Blood and Arcana tourneys on Friday @ MWC? Melty wouldnt require extra TV’s, since that game would be run on laptops, and Arcana will be out on USA ps2 by then, so it wont be that hard to acquire copies. Both of those games have a decent scene in the MW (bigger than SNK or EX, for example) and I’m positive that the community can step up to run it + provide necessary equipment to make it happen to minimize hassle. I didn’t want to ask on Saturday since I know saturday MWC is always hectic an your schedule is starting to look tight…if its possible, let us know.

Thanks
<3 Jason

well ill put in my 2 cents. last year indeed, saturday was insanely hectic, due to DR having 80+ entrants and running ggxx, then cvs2 while tekken was stil lgoing. on top of that, DG was running his SNK marathon, it led to an insanely cluttered room, and i think i can speak on behalf of myself, jason, juicyG, and heartnana, that it was really hard to see the stations and what was open, and very hard to get to the stations without accidentally distracting tourney matches, it was very difficult.

now i dont want to sound like im interfering with jasons show, and he may have further plans. hes stil lthe main dude, im just the lowly servant. but with all the tv’s being used for tourney instead of only some, the tourney games could potentially end earlier, which can then lead to casual play later in the evening, which is totally possible, but its hard to say.

even tho MB is played on laptop, there is still a lack of room for setups. the party room was extremely packed last year. i dont think jason wants to leave anybody out, for casuals atleast, but its really difficult with the limited space =(

what kinda sucks is that a lot of valuable space is wasted due to all the extra chairs and tables stacked in the back of the party room, and unfortunately nowhere to put them, unless a rental truck was rented for the weekend, which costs money =(

i think tho, sunday is probably the best day for console casual play(basing this off the past 2 years). i think its hard to say til the day of. or we just have crazy red roof inn gatherings afterwards every night. =) plus more incentive to come in thursday night and get games in with everyone!

As long as we get it, would it still be ok to have MB/AH? Any day is fine, as long as we can have it happen.

I agree with Sabre, as he has worked very hard helping run this tournament.

Sabin: I think Sunday would work better for games like that. I am not running them, it would have to be player run, but only one tourney at a time, and only one TV is all we can handle… it’s all you, I have no problems with it, but it CAN NOT interfere with Smash.

Nice to see that DR is back at a jacked up time and day (sunday at 4pm) again after it being in a great spot last year (and having the biggest turnout if I remember correctly)

Are we afraid of too many people signing up again? Good thing, because I bet it’ll be down to a dozen people again this year.

3s arcade = staying home: the showcase was totally busted last year and the only really good one meant you were butting shoulders like 1992. If you guys won’t switch after that scenario, when were trying to qualify FOR a console tourney … don’t know what to say.

The scene is shrinking so bad that arcade tourney for a game nobody plays in the arcade is unhealthy. Maybe Midwest Challenge I’d see keeping arcade but whatever.

I know you’re sick of these posts but that’s my opinion, just throw it out the window with the rest, that’s fine.

and once again, there are no evo qualifiers anymore. you arent qualifying on anything. so its moot point now

So then, when is OFFICALLY the EVO North tournament. That WOULD have the top 8 qualify for EVO World? Cause at this point I am seriously confused…

There are no more qualifiers for Evo world. So if there is an Evo North (I haven’t read up so I’m not 100% sure) it would be an independent tournament.

Please correct me if I’m wrong but this is what I gathered so far.

I am looking to be here yet again.

Just called it Midwest Championships and drop the “Evo North” tag. Less confusing.

Reg Fee?! :wonder:

Also, 360’s are a good choice. If I had to play on American sticks, definitely going w/ Perfect 360’s.
