Lame…
Don’t say i never sacrifice for the community!
IIRC cole was upset at how it was handled too, in any case it was just kind of last minute for fun thing from what i know, not really intended to upset everyone. If anyone has any good ideas for next year let srk know. Here’s mine:
Enter the top 8 from ECC,MWC,TS,something else? into a bracket and play it out that way.
Many people beat the japs in their hotel rooms at evo, some people have beat them in tournies, so I’m sure anyone CAN at one point or another. The question is if you had to place a $3000 bet on it, would you then be taking ‘random’ people?
When EA has a Team EA qualifier then there can be a Team EA. Did you see Jordan keep on his bulls uniform when he played for team USA?. You can’t be serious with that comment, doesn’t EA have a Public Relations director to run these ideas by?
When does it end? Why would you ask people to deny being Team USA and then expect them to respect a Team Empire, even tho there is no Team Empire quals, Team Empire arcade, or Team Empire anything. Like i said, hire a PR director, please. If you have one, fire them and get a new one.
-_-
Let me read the statement to you again: “Three finalists will receive a round trip ticket to Japan to represent the United States in the Super Battle Opera finals in Tokyo Japan in May 2006.”, not “you get to represent your clique at the expense of TGA and take little needless jabs back at the players”.
Mostly because every time certain people are about to get credit, I think they recognize it, and think “What is the absolute worst thing i can do right now… lets do that!”
Apples and oranges, at MLG you show up and say heres my team, and your in. For instance if there’s a team tourney at evo, there can be 5 team empires or whatever and noone will mind.
Here there is only a spot for 2 teams, so even if it’s not explicitly stated (even tho it is clearly stated at tga.com), people would like these teams to at least acknowledge that they are representing the player base a bit.
You certainly are not helping to clear the misperception here.
Sure do what you want, it will just probably go over as well as the “LA Angels of Anahiem”… another GREAT renaming of a team.
If you want to bring EA some rep that is fine, but there is a better way to do it than to use words like "NOT team usa…The WC can have the “team USA” title… ". As if your taking something that most people here would love to have a remote shot at, and throwing it back as if your too good for it. Even if that was not your intention, that is the perception. You would think people would have learned from the confusion last weekend.
PREACH BROTHER FMJ amen!!!
Seriously though, saying you guys are team empire in japan, while TGA pays for your plane ticket to go to SBO and rep TEAM USA is seriously one of the most lame and fucked up things ever. You know, you guys are acting like a certain group of people you so have claimed to hate before out of Cali that go to an arcade with the initials AFF(not in that order:arazz: ). lol, EA is truly a lame bunch.
For once i agree with josh… that is LAME.
Those look awesome, can i get the reciepe at TX showdown
…:wonder: …
you dont even go to tournaments in your own state, how are you gonna get to TX showdown.
What?
Are you being paid for wearing that t-shirt and avatar, Shankar? No offense intended, but the only thing I recall the Empire doing for me, and which I applaud them and give them credit for a job well done, is the “Neutral Grounds” tourney which I had a fun time at.
At ECC there was an Empire logo next to the Break logo and people getting on the loudspeaker to say “hail to the empire” randomly. I don’t know what the deal at Evo was, but supposedly people tried to get to the Empire logo next to the SRK and MLG logo also?
Once you get the Asian girls to come over and give me a blow job, I’ll give Empire all the credit they want to feed their ego with. Until then, don’t try to imply that I owe anybody anything.
Even TGA for giving me a place to play games and Andy being such an awesome person, I pay them $10 in return each time for the free play gaming fees and the great customer service I get. If I enjoy service enough, I’ll choose to wear a TV shirt or maybe sport a TGA avatar to show my appreciation. I’ve handed out business cards and have recommended the place to all my friends already.
Why on earth are you complaining that the Empire doesn’t get the credit it deserves (like people owe you something) when I don’t recall the Empire doing anything for me other than just promote itself though?
Again, no offense intended, but you’re pulling a Gavin right now with your public relations skills, Shankar.
IIRC the 2 USA teams @ last years SBO were called “Team Empire Arcadia” and “Team Divine Rapier”, not team USA 1+2. i dont see why theres needless drama over a team name, who cares lol.
EDIT: actually a more important topic is this, does TGA pay for ehe people who EVENTUALLY qualify to go to japan to represent USA, or what? or is this just a EC qualifier? how does this work?
hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate!!! well done kcxj your a true hater in my book hand’s down best fucking post in this bitching ass thread.
arturo tga pays for the top 3 who qualify at tga to go to japan round trip and i believe andy is gonna escort everyone around
quote of the day
[10:57am] <@True_Tech> i just read that post in the quals thread
[10:57am] <@True_Tech> and empire wonders why no one likes em
[10:58am] <ParryPers> Because they are lame.
[10:58am] <ParryPers> Well
[10:58am] <ParryPers> The leader moreso
[11:00am] <@True_Tech> that was just horrible
[11:00am] <@True_Tech> if empire wins it they won’t be team usa they’ll be team empire
[11:00am] <@True_Tech> sad
[11:00am] <FMJaguar> they’ll be team “Oh shit wheres our tickets”
though i’ve only seen shankar (who the fuck is that btw) post this i hope its just him saying this and not all of empire saying this
Yo, what’s this talk I’m hearing about “Team Empire”?
That’s highly inappropriate, crossing the line, and taking advantage of Andy’s generosity. He’s the one holding the tourney and paying for the tickets right? You don’t see him requiring the team name to be “Team TGA” do you?
The team name should should be “Team USA” like it should be (or a neutral name that all three members get to decide on) and no more of this self-promotion Empire nonsense. “USA East” and “USA West” would be my picks. “Team Hot Dogs and Donuts” or something else random if that’s what the players want to call themselves too. Having TGA pay for the tickets and then calling yourselves Team Empire is the worst and most inappropriate idea I ever heard of though and I’m offended.
even if they dont qualify to go to SBO? that would be counterproductive, wouldnt it? that’s why im asking if this is a EC qualifer or if this is the SBO qualifier for the USA. from the posts on this thread im assuming it’s just a EC qualifier, with the WC qualifier not yet announced yet…where will the actual quals to decide who’s on team USA again once everything is sorted out?
true: lol chill with the random hate. i could just say “wtf are you” since shankar has been in this community a hell of a lot longer than you but its just pointless.
kcxj: i dont even know why you are so offended. Team EC/WC(USA) is kind of a lame name anyway and i would personally choose something that’s more cool other than just generic names.
shankar: i blame you for starting this drama and talking about team empire, you know when anyone mentions that name on srk people get their panties in a bunch. So just keep it movin
team hot dogs and donuts let’s getting boi’s.
:china: From both me and Andy.
Oh, and not for nothing, the rules have not been discussed just yet, so we’ll see if the great “EA” will come up on top. At this point anything goes… everybody has a good chance at qualifying, it’s not predetermined. So please give respect to those that work just as hard as Team EA, because they’re players too. A good point too from anonymous: “Team Empire has a losing record too you know, it’s not like they’re Gods; although they sometimes think that. Their wins are not set in stone.”
If you win, you are qualified for SBO. There are 2 US qualifiers for 2 different teams, one at this tourney, and one at a (yet to be announced) different tourney, apparently on the west coast (or possibly TS again).
