To be honest, I can respect both sides of the issue surrounding the streaming of the exh. At the end of the day everyone is going to enjoy the thing so let’s not be so hostile here. I think it speaks volumes about the community to see how badly people want to witness this exhibition. It’s come a long way and hard core enthusiasts should all be pretty happy about that.
Btw… I wasn’t referring to Daigo vs Justin. I was talking about the whole event, excluding that match…
If what you said is true, that they won’t be streaming the whole event… that’s too bad… maybe someone can update the first post so people don’t get confused?
They’re not streaming the event, just some stupid side tournaments.
(sarcastic joke)
my brother backed out last minute on going… Can I get a refund or resell it? If anyone wants to buy one, and its legal, PM me.
Hai guiz is there going to be a stream for the Daigo VS. Justin rematch? I sure hope so.
god help you for posting that haha… goodluck to eveyrone today
The stream is at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/seasonsbeatings4 . The chatters say it’ll start tonight at 8pm EST. It’s probably a good idea to link this in the first post.
And seriously, enough bitching about the Daigo vs Justin match already! Leave this thread so those of us who are actually in Columbus for the event can solve more important problems. Is the venue still in need of a laser printer and a UMK3 cab?
Money-grubbing? I’d call it something else, but HELL YA all the same-- and it’s a GOOD THING. All you pro-stream people hear me out.
Take a minute to think about the implications of what you’re asking for (which is basically something for nothing btw). Now think about our hobby. It’s not designed to rake in much of a profit in it’s own right. Capcom is making all their dough upfront with profits from the actual game sales and a portion of their license fees through 3rd-party manufacturers (arcade sticks, toys, clothing etc.). That’s IT for Capcom-- this is important and I’ll jump back to this in a bit.
Within the community, there’s a few people making some scratch through custom arcade sticks and pcb’s, which is great for the community, but when it comes down to it, not too many modders are making much of a profit, and since arcade sticks don’t break down all too much it’s still not THAT big of business even given the growing size of the community.
This leaves the tournament organizers. These are the people that are biting the bullet, doing the leg work, promoting, organizing, putting THEIR capital on the line in order to keep the community moving upwards. All of them do it because they enjoy it, nobody is making exorbitant amounts of money off of this, although for their efforts they probably should. At the very least, they shouldn’t have to put up with garbage from raggedy beggars that can’t see the big picture.
Without tournament organizers, Capcom would be in the hole, and Street Fighter would be dead. Period. This is the bottom line, and its sad to see that Capcom still hasn’t given these people and their events the attention that they deserve. If a tournament can prove that it can stay on the map year after year, Capcom should be all over that with sponsorship, prize money, and yes, even event streaming.
If a high-profile grudge match is what it takes to get people to travel and support the scene, so be it. No tournament support = no future for the hobby.
Ty for the link good sir.
No problem; enjoy the stream. Can the mod in the ustream.tv channel to do a !censoroff command? We need to properly tell the haters to shut the fuck up.
Still working on getting the cab up there.
I think i have a way. Just need another strong dude to help me load into a van, and unload it into Momos. PM me!
Nigga NOOOO! Not again!
i’m 5’9 weigh 250 I"LL BE THERE!!! lol
Whoever knows me from the fighting game community. It doesn’t matter to me. lol
Maybe you’re not the worst thing to happen…but you’re certainly far from the best thing. This community has been about being there and doing things. Lots of people posting asking for shit haven’t been there or done that. You guys shouldn’t get anything just based on the fact that the majority of you asking for the streams are doing so because you feel the event is worthless if you don’t get the first to 10 streamed. The fact that such an ideal even crosses your mind is sick. Especially when everything else is getting streamed and you’ll get to see them fight in a LONG SET ANY WAYS. You’ll get your Ryu vs. Boxer either way. You want it more than I do…fuck.
I’m sorry…Ryu vs. Rog ain’t that fun of a matchup. You figure that stuff out after you’ve already seen a ton of games played in a competitive fashion like I have. Shit is not the be all end all of competitive gaming. It’ll be hella fun to watch but, for me it’s only gonna be because of the players. They’d be doing higher level shit that’d be more interesting to visually watch if they were playing a different game instead of scrub fighter IV. You guys just want to see Ryu throw his hadokens like an episode of DBZ.
fun stuff
Dude I’m helping out in a local tourney in 3 weeks as well as participating. I never asked for shit in any post, I just said they should charge for the stream and since then I’ve been getting nothing but comments like the one you just posted and have been neg repped to hell.
I just want this thread to return to posting about stuff relevant to the tournament without getting attacked every 2 minutes.
thanks for your reply too… it would be fun to just sit back for the weekend and watch some games…
believe me… if I still live in Indiana I would go to this event in person… it was only a couple of hours drive…
URGENT
I just talked to Ghaleon and he said that registration for games ENDS at 9:30 am tomorrow he also said that his and fugee’s pm boxes were full and that the only way to contact them is in person at momo’s
