I’m part of the group that’s disappointed that there’s no main event stream. While I get that you’re supporting the venue and encouraging people to go to the actual event, the truth is, people who want to watch the event and CAN go to the actual event would most likely go to the event ANYWAY. It just feels like you lost thousands of viewers, which would’ve looked great statistically and could’ve maybe got you guys a sponsor for next year’s season’s beatings.
That being said, will there at least be a direct feed upload of the main event after everything is over? The first post says there will be high quality direct feed uploads after the event, but I’m assuming that’s just for the tournament stuff and everything that isn’t the main event.
You know, I’m pretty sure the top 8 from each game is going to be streamed on Sunday. There’s going to be a lot for you to watch all weekend long, so you won’t be disappointed as long as the quality is as good as the Devastation stream. Daigo and Justin will likely meet in top 8 SF4 anyway, so you’ll see them in action there. For those of you that simply must see this ft10, buy the DVD. You didn’t really expect to be able to freeload the full weekend, did you?
If the top 8 feed on Sunday suffers technical issues, then you just might have a right to complain. I think the staff will have it under control by then so that doesn’t happen.
Now I wish we hadn’t done a stream at all. If Seth wasn’t coming here to commentate and Seb didn’t have his plane ticket I’d just say fuck it, if these are the kind of people who are participating in streams we don’t want anything to do with you – so many of the people we like in the scene, locally and nationally, are here already, to have fun, support the scene and support US and our months of hard fucking work. Running this tournament is the most stressful in my life, period, because you don’t want to let all these people down who believed in your event (with their hard-earned cash) and are relying on you to give them a great time.
Being pretty flabbergasted by the negative comments and straight up trolls, suffice to say that all you people whining are not our target audience, and all the things you think we should care about, we don’t. So if you haven’t solved the mystery that bitching WITH TONS OF POSTS SAYING THE SAME THING won’t get you what you want, this year or ever, I’ll be reporting the most egregious trolls in this thread to Wizard, since that’s about all I can do.
Fugee and I are TWO PEOPLE. This costs THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS to run every year. We don’t care if someone who was never coming here or buying a DVD/shirt wanted to watch our main event at 10 p.m. Saturday night at your PC with your hand in a bucket of Cheetos. This isn’t a televised sporting event. You are not our audience. We don’t even *like *SFIV but enough people in the TOURNAMENT scene do that we centered the event around it. Casual SRK appeal or whatever the fuck isn’t why we’re dong this, so stop assuming we owe people who aren’t here anything at all besides a well-run tournament.

Sweet, it’s 4 in the morning again, I got 4 hours of sleep last night, and I have another 24 hours of SETTING UP THIS TOURNAMENT, letting alone running it, ahead of me. 10 billion people late regging, no brackets yet, we might have to buy a laserjet printer because Kinkos is full of shit and we need badges made still, and I just wasted an hour reading word vomit from SFIV scrubs who I could beat with 1992 fireball/dragon traps are pissed because they can’t watch Daigo fight Justin twice in the same weekend – What fucking assholes Fugee and I must be. WE HATE THE SCENE ARGHAAA. It’s easy to say “I understand what is takes to run a tourney blahblahbullshit” but you don’t, trust me, you actually have no idea what’s it like. And when you’ve made tons of friends and run three great tournies with cool events, and a new group of people who don’t travel makes demands on you, it won’t affect your decisions either
P.S. It was great seeing everyone at the venue tonight. And we took to Daigo to Houndog’s Pizza yeeeea. I got kind of an interview out of it and will try to edit it down to YouTube sometime, if my friend will help subtitle.

If you complain because you’re a broke college student, guess what? Most of us are. We love the game THAT MUCH to make it. I mean me and part of my crew are bringing HOMEWORK to this shit but we’re still showing up despite having school obligations and we’re competing. If we couldn’t make it, we wouldn’t complain, we’d just wait until the results came out. LIKE WE USED TO.
If you’re busy with work or whatever, oh well, most of us have jobs that got us here in the first place. We just love this that much to call off and save the money to come here.
Those of us who do make it, along with tournament organizers, are the reason this scene exists. We’re the reason YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO WATCH. So quit your bitchin. If you can’t make it, tough shit. We’ll have fun without you. We did it before the influx of dumbasses that SF4 brought in, we could continue without them.

That being said…the “main event” or whatever you wanna call it is going to be on the DVD. That’s the only official word.
There’s also the international community, but I guess we’re just casualities of war in the battle between the community and the lazy community…

But as I said with Evo, I still believe payed streaming is the future and will probably be more profitable than selling DVDs after the fact. You can’t pirate “live”, after all, and there’s no messy shipping that may be turning (international) people off. But that’s for the future of course, as it takes planning and trial-and-error to get working nicely. Maybe the next Devastation will do it, they were the first to stream after all.
Yeah people are trying to plan too far ahead for this tournament that’s the main problem. This tournament is built on core tournament values like um…showing up to the tournament n shit. Not everyone can but that’s how you support a tournament if you are truly part of the tournament scene. Everyone else is just part of the community that likes to talk about the tournament scene.
Sorry that this tournament really only got planned in like a few months and we don’t have 5 sponsors and a pay per view stream. I mean last year…we didn’t even have a stream. Just not feasible to go from no nothing to all everything in one year. So the scene is doing what they can for this year and rewarding the people that had the time and money to compete in person and put their SF
game to the ultimate test.
Next year there’s always a chance for rewarding those that just simply can’t travel and support by watching. This year…it’s about the people carrying their arcade sticks to Ohio.
Just want to say… “Wish I could go.”
