So if you’ve never had a reason to look here, and don’t join tournys, which is it so important that you’re missing this one? If it’s purely to watch the pros play, there is a stream and a DVD later on. What is there to complain about? You can complain about them not advertising it, but like I said, being proactive about these events solves that.
Is this what the younger generation has come to - a bunch of ungrateful, spoiled, self-righteous children?
What are you going to do? Be happy you have a stream at all and enjoy the show. Appreciate the fact that the organisers of this tournament have put the amount of effort they have, to accomodate people not able to participate. Acknowledge the fact that in order to advertise and give their event more exposure, they need to sell the appeal to actually attend in person. This isn’t a dick move on their part. Give a little. Take a little. If people don’t attend, the tournament dies. It’s that simple.
My god some of you are animals. Someone gives you a bone and yet you beg for more. Have you no shame?
The last stream i was watching, half the people there was bitching about drops, bad framerate, etc. I can’t believe some of you.
So you were complaining but now you are actually going? Awesome.
Differences aside I hope you have as much fun as I will there.
Another kid who never went to economics class.
This comment is more directed at Seph…but you guys are SOL. This is an extra event for the community that comes to the tourneys. A lot of this stuff happening like Daigo coming was pretty last minute in the first place. There will probably be extra footage on the DVD not shown on the stream any ways. The stream is ultimately closed off to get the community to do what it should be doing…coming out to tourneys. For those that can’t go…u guys were out of the picture from the start. This is more for those that can go but just don’t go.
There’s always next year. This year it’s about being there. For those that don’t check SRK often enough to see when they should be GOING to something instead of sitting at their houses…yeah you already know.
If the chat was solely used for appreciating the matches, it’d be so much more enjoyable
I wanna see those UNO money matches! :lovin: HYPE!
Well god forbid their live, FREE entertainment not be streaming to their TVs in HD!
Hey guys… News Brief:
If you don’t check the Tournaments and Events forum… you might miss some tournaments and events.
And, just to debunk the whole idea that holding special, private, events doesn’t help SB… um… no.
Honestly, I believe SB is as big as it is now solely because they’ve done this in the past. I first went to SB in 2007. The only reason I went is because they were having the Marvel 3-Man FT10, and they made it clear that if you weren’t there, you’d never see it. I don’t even play Marvel, and that event drew me out to Columbus, Ohio. I’d never been to Columbus before, and I can’t see any reason why I’d ever go back, besides for another SB.
SB’s events draw people out, and they make for a great tournament, with so many people there, at such a great place. That’s just how it is.
So if your argument is to attack the business model… save it. It’s been proven to work.
Well said, HAV. You know, guys, you ARE getting a stream for free still, with tournament finals on it that may very well include some Justin vs Daigo. Watch it and love it or go home and be a family man.
Sup Hav. :smokin: I do agree with each of your posts though, so don’t stop.
Well not to burst your bubble but this tournament was announced months in advance. If you can’t plan for something months ahead of time, sorry sir you are SOL, sorry you’re so salty you think it’s the organizer’s fault. Next time check this forum more often. You don’t think its just a little selfish for everything that’s been planned to be changed, just for those people who didn’t plan but just all of a sudden wants to come? It’s reallly just a “Fuck You” to those who want to see but don’t want to buy the DVD. To all who think the DVD is worthless after the results, you’re an idiot and don’t even deserve to have anything to do with this event imo, please go start a cry thread instead.
In fact, go home and be a family man anyway.
wow haha i just found out about this today damn !! >.> lets hope someone records the justin vs diago match with a camera and puts it up to watch. Seriously though it is kinda extremly odd that they would just cut the most hyped match outa the event, I understand that they are trying to make it more valuable for people to attend but geez, do you honestly think it makes a difference ? did ppl not go to evo because their was a stream ? seriously anyone who was going to go was gunna go regardless >.> oh well guess ill enjoy what I see, but I still sincerly hope someone will record the match so we can see it this was by far the lamest thing to do at such an event >.>
That person that recrods the stream with a camera will have to watch their back when they’re done.
Real talk…anyone who tries is just going to get escorted out any ways. I honestly don’t care for the BIG FIGHT that much. I like improving my own game over watching 2 characters I can’t stand fight each other. Well…Ryu’s a bit more bareable than Rog. I’m just glad that I’ll get to see the game played in a long set with 2 of the highest level players in the world. It’s more about seeing Wong and Daigo put their skills out there than me actually enjoying the visual represenation of it. If it was up to me it’d be Uryo vs. Jibbo.
Oh and I can GUARANTEE you there will be people that will sit on the couch next year’s Evo because they know it will be streamed. It will definitely bring out some new players, but some will take advantage and sit home. There are definitely some couch potatoes who will sit in their house next year instead of coming out to become better players themselves.
Ugh. Thank you for summing up all the past invalid complaints into one.
Edit - They’ll play the part of Yun in your avatar DevilJin
You might be right, but for the record, not everyone is you so they might not do the same thing as you. And also questioning the business decision doesn’t become invalid just because it doesn’t lead to complete failure. Just because something works the way it is, doesn’t mean a change can’t make it work better.
Evo was doing fine, but I’m willing to bet that having the stream will be at least one factor in next years attendance going up. (and I realize that SB is having a stream too- that wasn’t saying ‘evo did it better’, that’s an example that although a business model works as it is, improvements to the ‘business model’ can still be made). The question is- had evo streamed everything except the finals, would attendance go up because people don’t want to miss it nextime, go down because (however invalid the opinion is) people feel slighted that they didn’t get to see what they thought of as the best part- or will it not affect one way or the other. I don’t know for sure, but my gut feeling is that the wider audience you please, the better your future growth becomes.
I so wanted to go but life happens lol.
On a side note I love how some people think that it doesn’t cost them any extra funds to run a LIVE Stream. Or even if it isn’t costing them (which I doubt) it’s still FREE. Just be thankful that you’ll be seeing any of it, I know I am.
I see a lot of condescending voices. Some very rational statements too… I guess everyone else just doesnt get it huh guys? keep brushing off those voices of reason.
A faithful, grateful audience maybe.
U mad? Take your own advice.
Anyways… Where is the marvel spot this year???
Intelligent and civil queries will receive the same courtesy. Those that are morons will be treated as such. If I could inflict actual pain upon them for the pain their idiocy has caused me and the others here, I would. I can always just say " NA NA, NA NA NA, I get to see JvD and you don’t get to see shit!" but I would still be wrong, because they get to see everything else.
