You know I honestly think rufus vs law must be 7-3 rufus. It could potentially be 8-2 rufus as the game develops more, but right now it’s easily the worst match law has and a easy win for rufus.
I don’t recall anyone in this thread, other than Ric, claiming they were good. Any King of Sask references were a running joke and were not meant to take seriously. Like I mentioned before, a good start would have been to actually inform of us of which game(s) you do play, and if you’re not comfortable meeting up just yet, you could use online as a way to play some casuals and maybe chat with locals (not calling quest lolz). Online play is not completely useless as you are claiming (depending on game of course), especially when playing people regionally where you can get good connections. The points you bring up about online play are valid, especially about forming bad habits. But I think if I had the choice of either playing online, or not playing at all, I’m probably going to get at least something out of playing online (again, game dependant of course).
When it comes to people that we play casuals with in person, other than the people I already knew in real life, we either found them on Xbox Live or SRK.
To address your first point of it being a myth that you need to be in this thread to be good, I completely agree. Occasionally in every scene, people just come out of nowhere and take people by surprise. And they got that good by either playing online or with a group of friends. However, the difference between those people and you, is that they have took the initiative to prove what they are capable of. What you are doing right now, is claiming something and not backing it up in any way. It doesn’t have to be a contest or competition, but I would think that someone who enjoys playing a 1v1 fighting game would enjoy the competitive aspect of actually just playing casuals with someone.
You’re trying to call people out for focusing on the skill aspect, but that is the way you delivered your message. If the being more skilled part was not the main message, then why even mention it? Why bring it up if you won’t let anyone come to your gatherings, play you online, see a video of you playing, or tell us what game you play? Logically, one IS going to assume that someone who only plays casuals with a tight group of people, doesn’t even like playing online, and won’t come to a tournament, would not be as good or experienced as someone who does play with a larger variety of players and attends competitive events. Again, if your group played a lot and was very skilled, you’d eventually feel the urge to see where you stack up in a competitive enviroment and get a chance to meet other players. It doesn’t have to be a big serious ordeal.
Essentially, you are calling people out because you decided to critique tournament videos. If you have actually ever entered a tournament, you’d understand the concept of tournament conditions, and that it likely will not be the absolute best representation of how good you are. It’s a fairly ideal comparison for you to look at someone’s grand finals video where they played a few games after probably an hour long break and have probably already been there all day long and tired combined with nerves, and compare it to how good you play in your living room with your buddies after getting warmed up with no pressure at all.
Futhermore, I’m not sure why you would be one to call people a social reject or judge their real life personality based on how they post on a random video game forum. Afterall, you did show up here only to harass Ric. I know in real life, you are not a Ric stalker, so I would not judge you based on some posts you make in here. The majority of players I’ve met regionally that were from SRK, have been really nice people, regardless of what their online persona is like. Plenty of people I’ve met also have jobs, degrees or significant others and just enjoy playing video games in a living room with their friends. Don’t assume these people are so different from you.

From what I’ve seen of the play from around here, my casual get togethers are far more competive than any ‘competitive events’ going on in sask. I don’t feel the urge to ‘see how I stack up’ at all, because I’ve seen how you people play, and it just makes me laugh that you people could lose to someone like Ric/shin and brag about any amount of skill, to anyone.
