Yeah I agree and I know the canada cup situation is a work in progress. I reached out to the canada cup staff and they know I’m not a threat to anyone there. However I think people also need to realize that my behavior that eventually lead to my ban was not entirely my own fault. I mean it was my fault in the direct sense that I chose to indulge it as opposed to ignoring it but I only acted the way I did in response to the things being said about me. Had those few calgary guys never provoked me to begin with I would have never felt inclined to say the things I did on these boards or on FB and eventhubs. Not to mention that in spite of all the accusations of being a "psycho"I was the only one to man up and apologize for the shit that went down and admit my fault in things. At any rate I acknowledge that getting banned was my own fault so I assume it will be a process before that ban is lifted.
You can’t say “officer, I was provoked because they called me names… I mean, it’s kind of my fault, but not totally” as a valid excuse for stabbing a guy. You have to take responsibility for your own actions.
Your ban has only been in effect for a few weeks, and hasn’t even meant anything yet because there’s been no CCG event since it happened. I think it’s a bit optimistic for you to try to fix over a year of animosity with two weeks of moderately good behavior.
Best advice I can give you is, prove you’re not the same person you once were by keeping up this attitude for a year or more, and then see what happens (still no guarantee CCG will lift the ban, and I can’t speak for them). During that time, attend local tournaments and patch things over with your local scene.

I forgive and forget fairly easily especially when I get the sense that the other persons are legitimately sorry for what happened, but in this situation I never got a apology back in spite of coming forward and saying"yeah dudes I messed up and I’m sorry". In other words I’m trying to improve things so that the last 2 years will seem like a distant memory and let the past be the past…hopefully this sentiment is mutual with the calgary guys as well.
No one said they ‘would never enter a tournament’, just that we don’t care enough to go to Vegas, or even Calgary just to play video games.
I really don’t see why its hard to believe that people who play casually could be as good as anyone else here, considering that no one here is that good, and you all know it. For what its worth you’re one of the few people here I wouldn’t mind meeting. I never mentioned it to brag, mostly just to test the waters to see if that very thing could happen (getting together with people from here). Unfortunately, immature children focused on the ‘more skilled’ point instead of the ‘people meeting’ point, which really says a lot, and I think is pretty pathetic. We aren’t even MUCH more skilled, like I said from what I’ve seen most of you would be near the middle. At the risk of sounding sexist, a few of the group are females who are just there because they’re dating someone else and want something to do, and the odd person is there from time to time purely for social reasons, and they’d be fair game for anyone. But again, THAT IS NOT THE POINT YOU SHOULD BE FOCUSING ON. Instead of being met with ‘wow more people in sask play FGs thats awesome’ it was met with ‘LOL UR NOT BETTER THEN ME, COME GET BODIED FOOLS, I GOT MONEY THAT SAYS YOU SUCK, GO PLAY MARIO PARTY AND WATCH PORN’, so thanks for teaching me what I wanted to know, I guess, even if it wasn’t what I was hoping for.

If the point was that you guys were just cool dudes who like to play then why would anybody mention skill? Casual players who play for fun and camaraderie don’t care about skill level because that’s not what it’s about. The fact that skill was mentioned and the fact that you maintain that somebody in your group is more skilled than X exposes that there is more going on than fun and good times.

Anyways the new avatar series is starting in april. I started to watch the series a few months back and love it, although I wonder why they never once made a fighting game based off it.

The sad truth is judging from your posts you are not nearly as fun loving as you think you are and most likely not nearly as skilled as you think you are. The best part is you could actually prove this assumption wrong by hooking up with some actual fun loving chill guys (Norman and/or Merlin) and showing them you are what you claim to be.

I think in the future, to avoid people focusing on skill, one would maybe just say “We are a group of friends that plays this particiular game, anyone want to join us?” Maybe drop a gamertag or two to play online in case you aren’t keen on having new people over.
