You know I wasn’t always trash in 3s, backed when I mained it I was told I was as good as moe powell, jinrai and wes from edmonton. I wish I went out to 1 tourney to prove myself back then.
SFxT felt really sloppy when I played it, feels like the timer isn’t long enough, and just has some moves with really dumb properties. Marvel 3 did not have this many timeouts this early. Gems are just poorly implemented (reiterated in the latest Wake Up SRK).
That dumb properties part is from me, someone who mains MARVEL. They’re dumb relative to the rest of the stuff in the game. For instance, why would you have moves that force stand that can be linked and not whittle hit stun? They gotta be playing bingo when they make some of these decisions.
Also, the fat guys being good (Rufus/Bob) pisses me off. I guess no one would play as them otherwise but seriously, they are art abominations.
Tekken characters look like fun but the game just isn’t that fun for me as is. Shoutouts to Ono. If people find it fun for whatever reason, more power to em…but better not hear ya talking sh!t about Marvel
That said, I was gonna run Xiaoyu/Cammy, so if I do pick it up once an inevitable GOTY or whatever next version is out there (provided it’s cleaned up from a functionality and gameplay perspective), I’m not a tier whore :3
In the meantime, I will continue with the fun game (yo MARRRRRRVEL) and dat SSX (add me on PSN for it if you have it!).
C’mon mike you gotta run that cammy wild on this game, I am now a cammy use so you gotta main this game to show me how it’s done!
I do understand the issues with this game, and between reading the rant thread in the sfxt section and a few Calgary guys complain about this game I do understand where people are coming from but…once again the game is not even a month old. Like let’s take kor13 for example, on the surface it might just look like a bunch of people running around with small jumps all over the place but clearly it’s a game that has some serious depth to it. Sfxt is the same, it might appear shallow to some people on the surface but there is a lot of good things it has going for it.
If people can tollerate the nonsense in sf4,mvc3 and to a lesser extent kor13 then I see no reason why sfxt gets such a hard time.
I think part of it has to do with some of the stuff outside of the actual gameplay like the DLC BS they’re doing with it, online functionality glitches and then even some ingame stuff like Jin’s swag kick, the all around dumbness of Rufus, the one-move infinites, and gems.
That said, when I watch higher level players play it, it does in fact look better. Still don’t like the endgame near the ends of rounds, and some other things bother me about it too like how Rolento plays.I’ll keep my eye on it before I banish it for real, but I’ve got other options I know I like and this game isn’t what I thought it would be from last EVO T_T.
Stealth edit: Also, all the cinematic bullshit from Ono’s new age of jackassery can go. Why does everything take so long, AND not count when time runs out? Asinine.
I agree with that last point very strongly, I can’t tell you how many games I’ve played and seen in which someone landed a long animation super that would have won them the round only to have it time out during the long as fuck animation. IMO should be treated like level 3s in Marvel. I also don’t like how easy it is to backstep your way to time out victories. I think some re balancing that somehow makes constantly retreating more punishable would be nice.
You know I did hate on this game a lot during the first week, but after some more time with it I’m really starting to love this game. Now I will admit there are certain aspects about it that I can’t defend but ultimately I think it’s a great game. At it’s core the game is all about spacing, and due to the high damage output it heavily rewards and punishes bad footsies. The top tiers in this game do have annoying equalities but is it really more annoying then the top tiers in other games…I mean SF2 top tiers are by far some of the most frustrating top tiers of all time and that game was around for 10+ years.
The one thing I keep reading is about how 1 dimensional this game is but I don’t understand why that’s a bad thing. KOF13 is essentially all about rushing down and it’s still a very enjoyable and deep game so why all the hate because sfxt focuses on footsies. Considering that this game has high damage output and is very spacing orientated its probably the closest thing we have to a modern SF2 which is probably why i enjoy it so much. This isn’t to say its perfect and not without its faults, but I think people are just coming down to hard on this game for no reason especially when it’s faults are no different then most fighters currently active.
Ric whats ur xboxlive gt? im always lloking for people to play. Im determinded to keep playing till i het at least decent at them.

If we continue hosting at Dustin’s (for the forseeable future), I’m not comfortable with inviting you because I don’t want to see any bullshit. My memory is a little hazy, but I do believe Allison still lives there. I don’t care if you promise there will be no drama, I don’t want to make her feel uncomfortable in her own home. Go ahead and continue believing these grudges are irrelevant while we game at Dustin’s.
In regards to the gathering, I believe Dustin will be hosting again this Saturday starting around noonish. As per usual, bring your own stuff, whatever it may be. I’ll bring my 360 along with a couple joysticks again so there will be a couple of setups. For any thread lurkers or those unaware of the address, PM me and I will send you the details.
Mitch, if you’re planning to come again, let me know and I can pick you up.
EDIT: Confirmed with Dustin, things are good for Saturday.
You know Ric, you should never try and discuss things you have no clue about. KOF for example. KOF is not one dimensional, it supports multiple styles of play. Grappling, rush down and zoning. In fact zoning is a strong counter to many rush based characters.
Some people hate SFxT because it simply isn’t deep and it never will be. People also like it for that same reason.
My tag is O daigo O
I’m always online these days so feel free to shoot me a invite whenever you want.
Chao: Allison has no one to blame for her"discomfort"other then herself. I personally don’t care about that situation and have nothing to say about it and no reason to incite anymore drama over it. As far as I’m concerned It’s over and in the past so like the man says"I got 99 problems but a bitch ain’t 1".
I have no issues with dustin but since he is close to her I imagine he won’t be inviting me anytime soon which is fine and I understand it. In the future if we can find a public venue I’ll show up but for now I’m cool just keeping it online, so enjoy yourselves and hopefully all goes well with the new events.
squash the beef then. man up and apologize, start over new. no more relationships wit girls that play vids. bad news.
I love SFxT. Shane is just scared of the king of sask and the greasy gimmix going into this game.
lol at this fucking thread
hey shinakuma, i got beef with you because of all the murderings you delivered me and my valorous Dan buddy on xbl. sakura ain’t gonna take that shit no more, i’m coming for you!!
As far as I’m concerned there is no grudge anymore. When I came back from my ban I promised myself that it would be a fresh start with everyone in the community. Trust me I learned that bitches and games don’t mix so I just want to help build the community as originally intended with no distractions this time.
Shane as far as kof13 is concerned rushing is the dominate style and rolls negate the footsie and zoning game. Hops dilute other meaty options as it’s the most effective and safe of all possible meaty options…I know there is diversity but ultimately it comes down to the same style. KOF13 is about mastering the mechanics more then the character, if you can master the mechanics you have a good shot of being good with any character.
So now that I have a better feeling of law and cammy and their BnB meta game, I think my next step is to include the tag system. I haven’t used it much and I think that’s probably what’s holding me back as far as optimizing my full potential in this game. I found out a lot of things I’ve neglected to do while browsing their respective threads so that should hopefully make me more competitive in certain matches I’m getting stomped in currently. I’d like to fight a really great rufus, rolento and vega though to help me overcome those matches.
No they don’t.
What did I just say about you trying to discuss things you don’t understand?
So how did you live in Japan and train under Ruu for a year and never enter any Japanese or NA tourneys for the game or make any sort of name for yourself? Please post pics of this Japan training trip along with pics of the Legendary Christmas Haul of 2010.
Also, to summarize TrollThis’ troll attempt of the last few pages, I will have to grade your efforts slightly below average. It is not logical to spit Ducktales of an underground group of fighting game enthusiasts that play with “greater frequency and greater skill” than anyone here, yet hide behind a notion that they are so casual that they are not community involved or would never enter a competitive tournament. You’ll need to improve your execution before you can actually fool anyone that isn’t Ric. Thanks.
I understand kof so well that im going to write a wiki on it for the uneducated masses!
Alsk i was to casual back then, majors were to far away:p
The DLC content is a joke and honestly…why does everyone make a big deal about alternate costumes. It’s a complete cosmetic change that doesn’t affect the game in any meaningful way. Outside the new characters everything looks shitty IMO…they gotta patch law with a AA. Although speaking on patches the only thing I would patch is the following:
-remove roll
-make throws like sf4
-remove rounds and make it so that you need to KO both members to win the match
I honestly think if they just did all 3 of tbose things it would be a better game then sf4.
I agree with your third point. But throwing should stay the same as it is in sfxt. Throwing was too good in SF4.
I finally beat this rufus, vega and rolento player who was kicking my ass before. I started to take advantage of the tag combos which really made a difference I think.
The more I play this game the more I’m loving it!
Edit: Maybe they could just make throws have a 0 frame start up like in sf2 to compensate for the lack of range. it would make them useful at close range and prevent people from jab counters against throw attempts.
anyone getting skullgirls?
