rico said all the meanest things possible about canada cup, threatened to cause the most insulting ruckus at canada cup’s next event, got banned from canada cup events and now hes just trying to look nice to get re-admitted to their tourneys
on his first day back from his srk ban he made a super rude comment on the women, shows how sincere he is about being a changed person
oh and before the last canada cup, he made a big fuss about the integrity of the 5v5 canada team selection, saying how he deserved to participate, well he got a chance to compete for the 5v5 but dodged all the canadian players there and of course he still has the nerve to say he could ocv entire province teams
SFxT has plenty of diverse playstyles, I don’t really understand where comments to the contrary hold their weight. Even the Tekken guys have vastly different playstyles, including characters with strong projectile games (Raven, Jin, etc). Even among their “get in your face, do high-low mixup” characters, they have vastly different ways to get in, have moves with different startup and frame advantage, which means lots of tricks and ways to play them. Not to mention, a diverse SF cast full of zoners and frame trap characters that all look pretty viable. I agree with Freddyloco on this one.
Damage needs to be high because of the tag-out mechanic. If you get 400 damage for one bar in a combo, usually about 25% of that damage is recoverable (as long as people stop using LMH launcher!), and it’s not 40% of your overall life (practically speaking), it’s more like 20%. Virtually every footsies character in SF4 can get 200 damage off a hit-confirmable poke, often for no bar. To me, the damage actually seems in line with how it should be, and the onus is on the defensive player to ensure he doesn’t get killed before he can use his reserve 1000 health.
As for rolls… eh, I dunno. I originally thought it was a terrible idea, but I’m not so opposed to it anymore, even though I get irritated when they roll. Certainly, good technology will be developed to handle rolls and I have a feeling that in a year, it won’t matter whether you roll on wakeup or not, you will still have to deal with some strong pressure. In the first week, it’s just hard to pressure because we don’t know how the game works, and we’re used to safe jump offense (which, by the way, still works if you choose to do it and pick the way they roll).
Top tiers… every game has a top tier I guess? I don’t see the point in talking about it, and we don’t even know who they are yet (you can have ideas, but they’re often wrong week 1 anyway). Infinites will be patched out, just like they have been for every other Capcom fighter. And there have been barely any characters I’ve looked at that don’t seem to have a fair bit of potential in them.
Aesthetics is up to each person, I guess. Apart from the hit/block sparks and the gem effects, I like the game’s look and music. I definitely don’t agree with all the things Capcom has done as far as DLC goes, and if you want to make a political statement to not support the game because of that, then I guess that’s up to you. But judging it on its merits as a fighting game, I’d say there’s good promise here.
Is it really necessary to keep your events private because of Ric? I mean, Ric would be stupid to try to show up and let’s say he did show up at said place, you wouldn’t let him in. Hell, I doubt the guy will ever show his face again whenever we host at Dustin’s place (refer to his signature,“
Allison and Tara fan club leader!” and his tag is Pill Popper at saskgamers.com). Throughout his multiple “rebirths”, we had given him chances to come back and play, but he never showed (ex. when Charles from Alberta, we invited him and Ric, but Ric didn’t come).
Don’t let Ric spoil our fun. I would love to attend larger gatherings and I’m sure others would as well. If anything, I’m sure it would piss him off more knowing that more and more people are getting together.
Every post you’ve ever posted in the sask thread has a direct condescending tone towards ricardo. The only time you post in the saskthread is to get at ricardo. Who are you actually? You’re just a forum troll. Atleast ric has the balls to come out and show his face. You complain about not wanting to be somewhere, but have done nothing to help, nor have you introduced yourself to any of us. Do the saskatoon people even know who you are? Seriously, I want to know.
If not ricardo you’re coming at me.
I don’t even know who you are so get off my dick.
Keep your little pansy events private, thats what the cool kids do.
You’re still welcome to come to our events, but don’t get crybaby like when we call you out for being such a bitch on the forums all the time.
Regardless. By you holding “private” gaming related events, Ricardo aside there are good people in saskatoon you are purposely ignoring and holding out. nice sense of community coming from a guy who shits all over Ric for killing his scenes.
What about Chao, Dustin, Evan, and the other guys who still play? They were gracious enough to allow the Regina guys to come to their game night and were great hosts to us.
Your posts seem intelligent, yet lack common sense.
Sorry about the negativity in my posts, I’m just sick of this fuckin’ dude coming in here and acting like he’s been around and is the be all and end all of sask when he’s clearly too bitch-made to even show up to any kind of event. He will condescend people and just generally be a dick yet when called out to actually play the game he gets all moral compass as if he actually has to physically fight the person. I thought on SRK we all played fighting games. Do you even play?
NOW.
Docmedical, are we going to have anything going on at the next saskgamers tourney?
I think we should get some discussion going on that rather than bitching about SFxT.
Last time I posted asking for information, nobody answerred cause you all are a buncha dicks.
If we had an event, would you come? YES/NO
**what are you willing to pay to buy into a tourney? (keep in mind this is above the 10$ venue fee they have already installed, which is out of our control.) ** would you want to run brackets or just run casuals and possibly money matches? what games would you play? what systems are we using (docmedical, you could probably answer this one as i can’t recall off the top of my head if matrix had 360’s or ps3. i’m leaning towards 360’s, but i’m not sure.) (also keep in mind that this was a touchy subject for saskatoon folk during SF4 vanilla. Not sure if this has been resolved between them, but i know they had a giant split due to being wack pad players)
If people want something to happen, then I don’t see whats stopping us from hosting something.
Keep in mind that its prolly going to be late april.
Last time I was there, they had both 360 and ps3 setups.
I’m down for AE or SFxT. I would show up if it was casuals or a tourny. Although getting enough entrants for multiple games would probably be unlikely.
Yeah, late april but atleast getting a start on some sort of plan early is crucial to whether or not something actually happens.
I’d probably play AE, SFxT, UMVC3, ST(or HDR), MK.
To be more specific, I’d probably play whatever games were played in brackets that need more players, and run casuals in SFxTK, AE, marvel, or MK.
I’d be willing to pay like 10 tops for a main game tourney, and 5 for a side game tourney. though 5-2$ would be acceptable as well. I’d leave that up to any possible people from saskatoon on what they’d be willing to pay. We won’t have a lot of players so I think it’d probably be best to run a few games as if we’re on our shit brackets won’t take all that long to get through.
I’d probably be interested in showing up. I’m waiting to hear back from an interview I had at Belle Plaine (where I worked last summer), so I may end up living in Regina by that time regardless. I’d play AE, SFxT and UMVC3. I will reserve judgement on fees, depends on the interest in said game.
Nice. we’ll be happy to have you when you move here.
I’m sure we’d atleast have games running for AE, SFxT. I’m not sure if we’d get a marvel tourney going as we don’t seem to have that many players. We do seem to have more than a few of us. I’d say we could probably get ST going as well.
This is more for the saskatoon folk that would consider coming here. (saying you aren’t coming is just as good, because then we atleast have a clue.)
I could talk to the regina guys at the next game night.
I would hate to disrupt the good flow of actual relevant discussion we got going here but I need to address a few things before moving away from all the derailing drama. First off at the CC2011 event I came on the day of the actual event and missed out on the qualifiers the day before due to work. I’ve already spoken on length over that issue, and I’ve stated numerous times that I didn’t fight a single canadian player that entire event and barely got any matches in outside my tournament matches and casuals with some international guys. I understand the lies about me in that event are in a effort to troll me, so this will probably be the last time I bother to clear up anything regarding anymore accusations against me.
Secondly, I’ve insisted for quite awhile now that trollthissrk is a sock account. He has been on this site for nearly a year+ and has only bothered to post or participate in discussion as it relates to me., and usually with the same things to say about me. Assuming he is a real person and not just some member hiding in proxy, we still have yet to get a online 360/PS3 tag or name from him or any other physical evidence that he even exist or lives in the city. Not to mention that during the times I have been banned for great stretches of time, he has never gone out of this way to organize events or continue the flow of discussion on this thread that wasn’t in some shape or form about me during those times, Let’s also note that in recent months we had between 2-3 new community members all of whom have already posted their online tag info and attended physical gatherings…its been about a year+ from trollthissrk and no one in the city has ever heard or spoken with him(this is of course assuming he is real and not a fake account). He has talked about the community and how my absence would be a benefit to it, but what has he ever done or said to actually improve or help out the community. I haven’t been to a local gathering since early 2010 so if he wanted to show with his"10 friends"he would have had more then enough chances to have done so already. For as much as he talks about the community his only real concern seems to be in regards to me, and this has been the case with him since the start. If at this point in time he wants or organize events nothing would stop him, and considering the fact that he has been invited out to multiple local events for nearly a full year already and hasn’t shown…well I just don’t see why anyone would bother anymore. Regardless if im banned or not banned, he still refuses to show at events, post his online tag or talk about anything that isn’t somehow related to me so until those things change I see no reason to acknowledge him anymore.
Speaking on the matter of local gatherings, I’ve already stated that I’m not interested in the past and that I hold no grudge against anyone in the local community. I don’t have a issue against dustin because my problem was never with him so out of respect for him and the other players here I decided to not attend gatherings he has hosted in the past. However times have changed and Im not against the idea of local gatherings anymore, and if anything I would like to see more local events happening and more expansion in terms of the player base. I think at this point in time my participation wouldn’t be a issue anymore since allison is no longer involved with the community and since my feelings towards her have nothing to do with anyone else in the community. Like I said multiple times already, im not going to indulge the drama anymore and I think it’s time that we all collectively as a community move on. We have already derailed this thread enough as it is so this will be my last address to this manner before moving forward.
Anyways I think that tournament sounds like a good idea and I will try my best to make it up there.
Hey doc do you know how we we could potentially advertise this community?
I tried saskgamers and in spite of a few views in the threads no one has come forward yet, I think maybe giving specific info on hosting would incite some more involvement from people but I would hate to offer up someone’s home without them knowing lol. Do you know any place we could potentially host that is public?
Infil; I do agree that this game needs more time to develop. Thus far I do have my issues with it but we won’t know how things turn out until more majors come around.
I think ‘show up to any kind of event’ is hilarious, because we’re having 'event’s with more people than you, and I wouldn’t consider anything thrown together in sask FG wise PRETTY MUCH EVER to be an event, really.
I’ve only addressed you like twice, ever before this, and you jump right to ‘dickriding’. Ok. How old are you man? I get more maturity out of students. My last post clearly offended you despite being an obvious joke. I’m starting to think you have no sense of humor at all This kind of thing makes me want to not invite the small, small minded, immature SRK crowd to our ‘events’.
If my posts seem intelligent but don’t make sense to you, the problem is probably you, being unable to make sense of them. I don’t comment on your ‘events’ because they don’t interest me at all. I comment on ‘ricardo’ because I have this condition where I can’t let people keep saying stupid things without letting them know how stupid they are.
lololol its funny to see rico trying to play the victim card while spewing more lies at the same time
facts:
rico made a big fuss about the integrity of the 5v5 canada team selection, saying how he deserved to participate, well he got a chance to compete for the 5v5 but dodged all the canadian players there and of course he still has the nerve to say he could ocv entire province teams
when rico claims that he couldn’t make the qualifier day due to work, rico is lying through his teeth. rico’s alt account rhiaggo clearly said that he could have entered the friday qualifier for the 5v5 canada team but chose not to because he felt he wasn’t a good enough player. on this i can agree, rico is just an average player and would have ruined canada’s chance for the 5v5.
sock account? u mean like excelancer, rhiaggo and blunt_object?
the first 2 pretended to be “friends” of rico during rico’s ban, until rico flat out admitted that excelancer and rhiaggo were rico himself.
also, blunt_object claimed NOT to be rico cuz he had a different ip address, yet he kept saying exactly the same things rico does. until an srk member found on rico’s facebook that rico posted a link to blunt_object’s post using hidemyass proxy.
so rico himself used THREE sock accounts and has used proxy to circumvent his ban and LIE about not being rico
so if someone is guilty of using sock accounts, its rico
I’m having better luck against vega and rufus but I still think the match will probably be 6-4 against law or possibly even 7-3.
GG’s Chao and Merlin: I’m glad our connection was fairly smooth today, I upgraded my internet so hopefully the lag issues we had before are now fixed a bit. You guys have different styles for guile, but both are pretty solid. I improved a bit since we last played but I still need some work in overcoming frame traps and pressure so it’s a work in progress.
Getting in my two cents as far as events go, as a new Stoon player. A tourney in Regina would interest me, but not sure if it would work with my schedule, especially if its in late April(I have finals and a vacation planned). At other times I’d definitely be interested, and if this does happen to work with my schedule(again, unlikely, exams periodically up till 23rd, leaving for 10 days on the 24th, and then probably not living in stoon over the summer) I’d be interested in attending. Don’t count me as attending though, just know that there is another interested player. Games I’d be interested in playing would be SFxT, UMvC3, and SCV even if it was just as casuals.
I like the idea of weekly events that has been thrown around a bit, even if people can’t make it EVERY week. Would help build the community for sure. As far as saskatoon based venues goes, I don’t have much input either. For advertising however, if we did end up with a venue that worked, perhaps we could get posters put up places like the Campus Cove or High Tech Game Traders.
Now, as far as actually playing goes, anybody who plays SFxT(EDIT: On PSN) want to get some matches in? PSN ID is my forum tag, shoot me a friend request and mention that your from SRK if your interested.
I remember people renting out a game room at the university a few years back, it might help so that we can get a weekly thing going as I’m sure it will be difficult for players to host consistently at their place.
On the topic of SFXT, I gotta say the more I play the game I more I enjoy it. This probably the first time I’ve liked a game even though I lose a good 80% in it, but I just appreciate the footsie and huge punishment dynamic. I think had this game gone through just a bit more development time it would have been something special, but as it stands its really fun.
I think I realized I have more fun using low tiers. Law will probably make me lose all my fights against good opponents but unlike SF4 I’m actually enjoying myself during mt matches.
please raise hand if joke was obvious. guess i have no sense of humor.
funny how i’ve met allison, ricardo, evan, dustin, chao(i’m pretty sure, its been a while.), and a few others and actually came out to one of the TTF events when they were happening. get real man, with the way you carry yourself online, i’d rather have ricardo at his worst. atleast he came to play, you just come on SRK to talk shit, get a life.
