lol. How stupid does Ric think we are? Does he not remember when ‘excelancer’ became his main posting account for awhile and he eventually admitted to being himself and didn’t even bother with the ‘hey just leaving message for a friend, because I totally have friends’ bologna? No one wants to play games with you dude, figure it out.
Its not even fun trolling Ric anymore…Its like poking fun at the disabled.
This thread is so funny. Took him all of what, 2 weeks for things to go back to normal? Hiiiiilarious. No infractions this time please, just permabans. We’ve had enough.
we don’t victimize anyone.
infact, we gave ric (you) many chances to be respectful after acting a fool.
(for example) we made you basically sign a waver that you wouldn’t be a jackass at canada cup 2011 before attending.
this time a facebook post you recently made was brought to our attention, voicing that you would be disrespectful and causing trouble as much as possible.
no waver signing this time. have fun trolling the stream from the bridge you live under.
First of all I’m not ric… IP check me and see for yourself…
I’m just a objective spectator, and from what I have seen it seems more like several calgary guys went out of their way to insult ric which was what prompted his behavior. I dont see those people put Into question, but then again I guess having friends as tournament organizers has it’s benefits. I’m just calling it like i see it and ric was defending himself. Have fun win the power trip though and blaming the victim for your friends own instigated hostility.
i apologize if you are not ric - it’s never easy to know in this neck of the woods (Saskatchewan thread).
in the case you are not aware of the on-going shenanigans … the 2012 thread is only the tip of the metaphorical iceberg (better said as ‘shitberg’) ric has brought upon himself.
he constantly offends anyone he’s talked to from calgary online - even if he is a good guy in real life it does not make up for the consistent abuse and negativity put forth online.
Canada Cup Gaming is an internationally recognized organization that will only promote a safe, healthy and friendly tournament atmosphere that is fun for anyone to attend.
evo/ric/exelancor, etc, puts out a disposition of hatred and disrespect in the fighting game community (who has been given numerous warnings/bans, etc. due to his actions) - therefore we had no choice but to remove the possibility of him attending this time around.
this is for the better of those who want to attend to have fun and enjoy the scene!
Unless you’re also spectating the conversations that happened in PM you aren’t seeing any part of the picture that is pertinent to our decision.
Shit talking on SRK =/= Talking about being a prick at one of our events.
Here’s the long and the short of it.
Prior to Canada Cup 2011 Ric said the same thing. We told him that it was his last chance and his bullshit had to stop. That confusing all of Calgary for Canada Cup Gaming was a mistake. I also told him that if I see the same kind of shit in three months I’m not going to be very forgiving.
I’ve watched him stream monster and shit talk semi-regularly since then. I’ve let it all slide even if it did piss me off. When I wake up to see this on his facebook

I was done. We all agreed that it’s in the best interests of our events to ban him. This is his bed, he made it, he can lie in it. Sympathize with him all you want but please don’t make the mistake of thinking he’s at all a victim in this.
I’m not trying to justify rics antics by any means, but I have gone with him to tournaments and I’ve seen how he interacts with the community in person. He is far from hostile, mean spirited and dangerous in person and if anything is actually a very nice and welcoming guy. My main point is that ric reacted as opposed to acting from some inherent hate towards Calgary.
Also if I’m not mistaken Calgary has a online troll who almost got beat up during marvel madness. I don’t see why nothing was done over that player and incident yet ric gets a full ban for harmless venting on his fb. Ric has been supportive to Canada cup since it’s inception and has come out to every event you guys have had this thus far.
I mean banning a guy over some online shit talk seems kind of overkill IMO. Especially when we take into account that you guys have a guy who almost started a fist fight at one of your events. It just feels unfortunate that Canada cup will only be a tolerant and welcoming event but only if you agree with Calgary. Either way it’s your choice but i personally find the banning of ric a very ugly aspect to Canada cup. At this rate will you guys censor every dissenting opinion towards your community, i mean this is the first time that I can recall of a internationally recognized tournament banning a player all because of some online shit talk and harmless venting. Do what you guys will but I think this bias is very alarming to other potential players whom might have different opinions then your community.
In the end of the day, it seems like you guys will happily accept harassment as long as it’s from people who are your friends or from your community.
I wouldn’t call those Facebook posts venting. They seem to be full of threats and hatred towards other people. Quit being an apologist for a terrible human being.
There is a small group of people in Saskatoon that still get together weekly for UMVC3 and KOFXIII.
If I’m not mistaken Dark Prince is still banned from EVO because of some stupid stuff he said he was going to do. If someone threatens to ruin another persons time at a CCG event, why take the risk of it not being a threat? Talking crap online is one thing, but don’t post threats if you’re not prepared for the consequences.
I would also like to point out that you are making very off base assumptions about how we have handled past incidents. Marvel Madness was dealt with offline and the discussions that were had with both parties are frankly none of anyone’s business, but both are still welcome at Canada Cup events and there’s been no further problems.
The point you are missing, or misconstruing and I will state this one more time and I’m done.
What goes on between two people on srk is not my business, I a NOT a mod. I am not a babysitter, and I am not the “be nice to everyone” police.
I AM responsible for Canada Cup events, and like the rest of my team I want them to be the most enjoyable events possible. When it stops being personal and there’s talk of real world actions, the I have to address that.
The only reason Ric is in this situation is because this is the second time in two events that he has threatened this kind of behavior.
It’s not favoritism, Ric is just the only one who’s taken it this far and this frequently.
I don’t see how this was “instigated” by anyone but evo.
Fact: this current bullshit was caused by evo asking if he could 1v5 a team. Derryk asked him the logistics of this because that’s a bold move, but said if someone accepted it would be ok. Evo says as long as the team is wc then that shouldn’t be a problem
^^
Trolls #1&2
Derryk then posts the above in our forum for lulz, because everyone(including evo himself) knows he’s never beaten jozhear so the idea he would 5-0 a team with him on it is comedy. He comes into the thread guns blazing, and I tell him to gtfo because nobody wants to read his bullshit. He tries to make the argument: I beat you a year ago in a tournament in a game you don’t play so you can’t say anything to me, when nobody brought up any technical ability. Nobody cares that you won a team tournament a year ago buddy, the fact is you can’t stop feeding off of negative attention to an unhealthy degree. You ruin the enjoyment of others at every juncture. And while it’s funny to you that you’re constantly getting banned from srk, you cry foul when it’s all your own doing. You register all kinds of false accounts so you can continue to post after you’ve been banned. Not only that, but you pretend to be other people to back you up. That’s some next level crazy shit
As for ccg “silencing dissidents”, you obviously have no idea what the calgary group is like. Evo is one of two people that have ever had enough of a problem with the calgary scene to not be welcome anymore, we have a base of like 30 people of unbelievably diverse backgrounds whom all consider each other good friends. Ccg is protecting its best interests keeping someone like evo away from its events. First it’s posting publicly that he’s going to disrupt the event, what next? Someone who creates multiple personalities on a video gaming forum that he’s not welcome on to try and give his argument weight is actually crazy, who knows what he might do in person?
Is the answer nothing? Possibly, but can you really take that risk when you’re an international tournament organizer? Not likely, how would you feel about going overseas to an event if you knew someone was going to be going there explicitly to “create the biggest shit storm in tournament history”
