I’m still here, just been busy with real life. I’m interested in meet ups, but pretty busy these days since I’m done school this year and currently on the job hunt. Hoping to find myself a job out in Fort Saskatchewan at one of those process plants. I play online with Dustin every once in a while, so he’s still alive as well. I’m looking at going to CC as well, but have yet to register. Dustin is going to CC from what I can recall.

I think our events being on a Friday is probably the best time for most of us. I think a weekend thing cuts into a lot of schedules so hopefully this works out well for everyone. I recommend registering as soon as you can chao, I think most of the brackets have been decided already.
So we need to know who is coming this friday so jay can prepare, if your coming plz let us know and plz reply here. Think of this thread as the new toon town fight site…except its just a thread now lol.
Anyhow the regina guys are grinding hard for MK9 and I think they will be able to do some serious damage in the MK9 tourny. Im glad you guys are putting a real effort and making it a goal to beat the top guys, hope all goes well and I personally think you guys can do it.
As for myself, I had a bit of a revelation over SF4 these last few days and im going into CC2 very relaxed. Last year my goal at CC2 was to have a impressive tournament showing but I got a bit caught up with the hype and ended up failing to do anything note worthy outside mms. I think my issue was that I wanted to beat the top players and in turn be reconized as a top player myself, however what I didnt realize is that I can never be as good as those top guys for the simple reason that I dont have the player base they do to improve.
Basically a top player needs 3 things, talent,desire and a strong community. I have the talent and the desire but unfortunately never had the strong community. Now dont get me wrong im glad toon town fights rebooted and that we are building a community again, but the tournament community I need to improve my game just isnt a possibility at this time and probably wont be for quite awhile. Therefore my goal this time isnt to make a splash or beat the top guys but rather just to absorb the experience and learn what I can when fighting them.
That is why this year at CC2 im feeling very relaxed and almost"zen"about the whole thing. I cant expect great results when I dont have the means to produce due to circumstance(that being my location)so instead of being stressed over winning and losing im just gonna have fun and try my best.I also do take some pride in knowing that Im not even close to maxing out my true potential and that everything ive done in SF4 is based soley off my experience in 3s and HDR. I dont train in the game, play it offline and rarely play strong opponents and thus far just by the merit of pure raw skill im peers with west coast SF4 top players such as mar,jj,air,jozhear,zen,bee and other top WC guys who I know for a fact do work hard to be as good as they are in the game.
Its a good group to be in for sure but I know I could easily reach the next level If I just had a tournamnt community to nurture my raw skill. I dont know what my peak would be but I have a feeling it would be very impressive to the point that I could easily be placing top 8 at major events. If im able to win/place high in tournaments,beat/compete agaisnt top players and beat/break even with the top guys regionally without any training or practice time against solid opponents(or even just opponents in general) I think Id be scary with the support from a tournament community. However untill or if that day comes im happy with where I stand currently in the game and community so when CC2 comes around ill try my best to learn as much as possible from my loses and hopefully become a better player because of it.

THIS friday? I’ll be in Wadena tomorrow and won’t get back till 6:30 then I’m going out for supper with my family for my Dad’s birthday (seeing how it’s at 5 pm, I’ll probably be too late).
Worse comes to worse, maybe if there’s interest in getting some games in during the weekend/next week I could have a few people over.
I think jay usually goes into 12-1am, at least from my time there. I think it’s probably gonna be a 5-10 thing most Fridays though, I’ll probably show around 6.

Losha: Yeah man its understandable, Ill probably be late this time since ill be with a lady friend but hopefully enough people still decide to show up.
Dustin is a really good player but what holds him back is inconsistency in a main. Had he just stayed with viper untill now I think he would be a very solid contender at tournaments. It is impressive he can build such high BP with multiple charcters though but to be a true SF master you can only master 1!
Me and him use to run a lot of sets back in the day and it really helped me with my timing and spacing. I dont know if he is still in town or not but if he is I hope he comes out to these new events. He doesnt drink though so I think you might be better off with bringing him some cinnamon buns from cinnzeo…if you bring some make sure to get a dozen for the whole sask crew!
Yeah, KaboomKaboom = turndesire2fire = InThisTwilight. Those were some pretty good games. I don’t play against much Sakura (any?) so we should do it again sometime. Maybe not at 7am or w/e time that was though.
I’ve played a few characters but never Ken. Viper, Ibuki, Chun-Li, Akuma, Juri, Cammy… and I think that is about it.
I should have plently of time to find you at CC! I don’t plan on staying in any of the tournaments very long with the way things are looking. I’m something like 3-162 in my last 165 games :rock:
What do you think about heading out to these new gatherings dustin, Im guessing its probably been awhile since you have had any matches with people in person and I think we should all get games in again.
i could tell you lacked matchup experience when we were playing those first 6-7 ranked matches or however many, because i only lost once. when we ran like 40 matches or whatever godawful number at that godawful time you were putting the pieces together, and last night the couple times i ran into you i felt like you had things much more under control and the cammy pressure was back on.
i really enjoy playing with people who are stronger players than me, so yeah, ya got a Sakura practice partner on call anytime :tup:
