Saskatchewan Thread 2011

lol

I’m not the type to look for handouts.

I really like Kano’s style. Very street fighter type zoning.

Our society is build for handouts, take advantage of the system!

I would if i could, so maybe if I prove myself enough at cc I can be considered.

It’s a Shane you won’t be coming down though Shane or the other Winnipeg guys. Do you think you would have done well?

if shanes kano could be anywhere near his akuma, he would be a fucking annoying mk9 player. shane, any chance you could find out who is coming from peg to CC, so i can figure out who else to add to my mk list for the 5v5?

mk9 5v5 list so far:

burzy306
merlando
levaranoia
jimmypotato
altaire_0
scrub saibot
neorussell
winnipeg???

if there is anyone else interested… (ricardo?) please get a hold of me somehow, and I will get you on the list for our friday night qualifier.

Im probably gonna be on a decent bit on fri sun and mon if anyone wants some sets.

Game night sunday at 5pm.

Probably try to run another bracket, if we have 5 or less for mk we’ll do a round robin. Get serious fgts.

LETS GET TRAINING. Canada won’t know what hit them once regina steps on the scene.

I think srf3po is the only good MK player from the Peg going to cc. He is the Jax player.

Id help for the MK9 thing but im just average in that game, Id serve sask best in SF4 by trying make a mark there. I was thinking about my chances of breaking top 8 in SF4 and basically this is how it looks like:

Since CC is hosted in calgary the highest number of players will be alberta guys. Ill have no issue moving past them in brackets as long as im sure not to underestimate anyone. I then will have to deal with the few BC players who are coming that from what ive been told are the best guys BC has to offer. Im pretty confident agaisnt them mainly because in my games with air we have broke pretty even, but im not familar enough these other BC guys and anything can happen in a best of 3 set. The EC guys are completely new ground for me and outside a single match with JS last year I have no idea what to expect from these top EC guys. I could probably adapt over time but I doubt ill be able to make the proper adjustments on such short notice. The top players dont require any explanation and it will essentially come down to luck and catching them on a bad day.

In short, Its all gonna come down to who is my brackets and if im somehow lucky enough to avoid top players and EC guys. If not then im pretty much fucked lol.

“Anyways from what I understand MTL is sending their top 3 players and toronto is having top 2 players go down as well i think 3 or 4”

This is the word on who ec is sending for cc. I don’t know what lapchi wants to do as far as the 5 v 5 thing is concerned bu who do you guys think should represent wc in a 5 man team for sf4. I suggested in the Montreal thread that a ideal west coast 5 man team would be air, jozhear, zenside,jj and myself . What do you guys think?

No offence ric, but you shouldn’t be on the 5v5 unless you’ve earned the right to be there. You haven’t placed in a tournament in over a year… However, if you did show up and body the qualifiers then i’d change my mind. There are good players on the WC that you don’t give enough respect to, the only way I could see you representing canada with how little you’ve been practicing, is if you went there, and won a qualifier.

I agree qualifiers are the best way to determine who should represent Canada and im not saying anything agaisnt that. Im just stating who I personally think should be on the 5 man team. I also did place top 8 at marvel madness and win teams at alberta beatdown so I did place this year for all the tournaments I went too. My issue is that I dont come out often enough for tournies but I do my best to make it out when I can inbetween work and school. I also do give credit where credit is earned and I cant put over players who I personally think dont deserve the spot. With that said the reason I included myself in that list is because im basing my spot off my performances agaisnt the"top"players ive faced in the WC region(note im not talking about online sets but actual"IRL"matches during tournaments). When you judge my win/lose ratio agaisnt the WC players this is what it looks like:

-I have a dominate winning record agaisnt all the top AB players excluding jamie
-Im one of the few players with the possible exception of the top 3 in BC who has a winning record agaisnt Air

Im not saying I should get a auto spot as a result or that im the best WC player since I have yet to face the top 10 from BC. However I think Ive showed enough in my fights with the top players in WC to earn the right to be called one of the top WC players that should at least be under consideration to represent the region especially considering the fact that I have a winning record agaisnt nearly all the players I mentioned in that 5 man team list.

Fucking SRK kept logging me out before I could send a message. Anyways this is late notice but jay has agreed to host for a bit, max is probably 5 ish or so. If you guys want games get in touch with him now and let him know. He is free tonight so if anyone wants any games IRL it would be a good idea to get in touch with him. Sorry it was short notice but I guess this can be like a trial to see how the TTF reboot will work. In the future ill be sure to announce events a full week in advance to let you guys know whats up, thanks and ciao for now.

dude at Alberta beatdown I stomped your shit with Rufus(my alt) game 1, game 2 you ran it back, game 3 went to the final round and it was close but you pulled it off, so congrats to you. But I’m only mediocre in calgary and we have close games, you haven’t played Brian, sam, Nav, or any of the other killers in a while. And you even say you’re out of practice, which makes your argument of you deserving to be on the team based on past accomplishments laughable

wheras you can take advantage of unsafe tactics vs people who don’t know how to punish it, you’ve been exposed by good players who do (except for air, which is such a bad matchup that daigo even counter-picked in super)

You are a skilled player, don’t get me wrong, but you will get 100% destroyed by anyone who knows the matchups and doesn’t fall for your reckless dps over and over like a lot of us do. The idea of how good a player you are in your head is a farcry from how good you actually are. The only thing you have accomplished is winning a single elim team tournament, and plowing through brackets full of free ab/BC players, in your own words

I know that I’ve just been trolled but I had to say something about the nonstop bragging about your perceived accomplishments, which are pretty much nothing

To use an analogy, you’re the guy in Starcraft who says: I’m a gold league player, but I’m more like a master league player

Get off your high horse and prove you deserve to be on the team

Edit 2: Damn typing out on a iphone is really brutal. Ill make a more condensed point here since im too lazy to fix all the mistakes and rephrase. The bottom line is that im not saying im the best player WC has to offer but im one of the top guys in the WC region for sure. I think this is a perfectly valid claim and if you think im speaking from ego or have no case to make than lets just look at the facts objectively without bias and spell them out:

  1. I won my 1st SF4 tournament in winnipeg a year ago without being sent to losers in either singles or doubles. Winnipeg’s player base has players such as shinakuma, bmike and jericho whom I doubt anyone would consider random srubs. If you think winnipegs top players arent anything worth mentioning or "free"then I welcome you or anyone else thinking that to come out to TST7 next year and replicate my feat. A good case can be made that winnipegs top players are at the very least as good as what AB or BC has to offer, and again if you wanna underestimate their community your more then welcome to test out their players for yourself.

Fact #1-Im a tournament winner in a tournament that had good players.

  1. In all the times since I started taking tournament play more seriously Ive spent most of my tournament life in AB tournaments starting with CC last year. Consistently from that tournament untill AB2 which was my last AB tourny, Ive only lost consistently to one player which has been jamie. Excluding him I was able to make my way through the brackets agaisnt all the other AB players in tournament play and sustain long win streaks without dropping a set agaisnt them during casual games. Im not saying I didnt ever lose a match, but the win/lose ratio was heavily in my favor agaisnt the entire player base I was able to fight with the exception of one. This was showcased heavily when I was able to win teams at AB2 agaisnt the 1st and 2nd of the single tournament in straight games.

Fact #2-Outside just a single player and the top players present,no one else from the AB/CC community has beaten me consistently from tournament to tournament either in casual or tournament play. If anything the exact opposite has shown to be the case and if you dont believe me then feel free to name the time and place where a AB player outside jamie has been able to beat me consistently

  1. I have clean sweep victories in mms and a majority lead in casuals agaisnt a player whom is considered to be the #1 ranked player in WC which is a feat no player in AB or even players within his own community can claim. Its one thing to just beat someone in a mm but to do it without dropping a match is quite another, especially when you can continue this lead into casual play.

Fact #3- I can say I not only beat air but I can say I did it during mms without dropping a game which I know for a fact no one else in WC especially AB can claim. If im wrong then I welcome any other AB/BC player to do it too.

  1. Ive been able to beat top players outside my community/province. Its no lie saskatoon has a underdeveloped community so as a result Ive had to make my way outside my province for a fight. In doing so I was able to beat the winnipeg community and the super majority of the AB community excluding one. Ive shown the ability to adapt to top players from different regions/provinces during tournaments and prove im not just good in my own region which I think some of these so called killers are.

Fact #4- I have beaten the top players from different provinces and have shown to be a good player outside my community. There is currently no AB player who has a tournament win outside their own province or a impressive winning record agaisnt the top players from different communities like I do.

When its all said and done In spite of not having a community, not having any training partners, not studying the characters or matches, not grinding in training mode, not watching match videos or even playing online all that much, Ive managed to beat top players and dominate entire communties and place and win tournaments. Im literally putting forth a 5% effort into SF4 and in that tiny percentage of effort im doing what players who grind at this game like its a part time job like you and 90% of your community do wish they can do in this game. You can say what you want about fei being a top tier or about how I play, but you or no one else who has said this shit can pick up fei and play him the way I do and win as often as I do. If you could you would have done it quite sometime ago but the very fact that you and your community continue to lose the same way you guys have since first fighting me is very telling. You and your community are at about the same level of skill since the time you guys 1st picked up SF4 2 years ago while Ive gone from losing 32-2 to majorcrimson to beating ross 2-0 in just under a year. How is it that im breaking top 8 at your guys events and beating your top guys if all these so called killers are in the way to stop me,…shouldnt the guy who’s only training time is during tournaments be barely making it out of his 1st match during brackets in a community that is suppose ot be filled with so many good players. Maybe its just time to accept that no matter the duration of time or whatever excuses are concieved a bad player is just a bad player. How many times does someone have to lose before they just say"you know what im just not that good"instead of trying to rationalize their loss as some fault with the opponent…like how does that even make any sense. Im winning as much as I am because im a good player and you and your group loses the way they do because you guys arent good and if this wasnt the case then you dudes would have shut me up a long time ago. Your lack of progression in spite of so much effort and my rate of expansion in spite of barely any effort shows that for all your bitching and excuses that in the end of the day what really seperates us is the very simple fact that im actually a good player and clearly your not. I called your community free not too long ago and since that time nothing has really changed, and really trying to hide behind this"well you its been awhie since you faced these killers again"is pretty weak and lame as I can easily make the same claim towards myself. In short bro, know your role and just accept being free…just my 2 cents. Also for the recod, you didnt shut my shit down at AB2 and in the 3rd match you lost both 2 rounds straight and I had more then 50% each round:)

Edit 3: In my humble opinion, as far the 5 v 5 is concerned I dont think anyone from AB should represent for the team and it should it just be mainly BC guys as I think they are probably a lot better. As for myself, well I have no issue with the qualfiers as I think everyone who wants to represent needs to take it but out of the list of the 10 best guys for the job im certainly on that list. I wont really bother to respond to that other stuff you said mainly for this simple point, when you can finally beat me in a set consistently and beat the guys I beat and win the way I win then we can talk. Untill then stay free bro.

Anyways thanks to jay last night for hosting and dar and jeremie for coming over. I think this was a good trial run to see how things would turn out and it was good to get games in again after all this time. As a reminder to everyone else and in particular jared, josh, losha and anyone else who wants to come, jay will be letting us know every week at around wed if he can host or not and what time he wants us over. When he does host it would be on a friday so he’ll be giving us a 2 day notice so we can plan that day out.

Our goal right now is to get at least 5+ people consistently at these events. We also have to organize how the gatherings will work and what kind of round robin system we want to implement and what method we should use to help us improve and work on things. From my count we have at least 7 players interested in the rebooted toon town fights so we whould at least be ablt to get 5 people consistently at the very least, hopefully this all works out so cya next time dudes.

you’re so precious

ft5 for 50$ at cc2?

lmao sure why not, lets make it 100$.

Edit: You know when I beat you at AB2 I said “ggs’, shaked your hand and left for my next match. I really thought you were being sincere with all your advice and I dropped the whole"AB is free” thing because I thought I was getting out of hand and that I was being rude. However with your most recent post I realize my issue was never with the AB player base but rather it was with players like you. The kind of 2 faced salty guys who cant get over losing in a video game and externalize their anger to whoever kicks their ass at the game. If you really wanna know why your not able to win or beat the players you want its because of your poor attitude and a delusional perspective on your skill. If you took the time to be humble and realize your not as good as you think you are you might actually be able to learn from your losses and apply that knowledge for next time. However due to this undeserved ego and inability to accept your flaws you’ll never grow which is why your about as good now as you were when SF4 first came out.

You also come on my thread with rude and disrespectful comments that are completely unprovoked and uncalled for especially since I in no way shape or form even made the slightest mention of you.I gave my opinion on who should be on the 5 man team and for as much as you wanna charge me with being arrogant you cant pretend the facts behind my reasons dont exist. If you wanna make it seem like the tournaments or the players I beat dont mean anything you can go ahead and think that, but dont come on my thread and tell me I have to prove myself and that Ive done essentially nothing in SF4 and that all my so called accomplishments are only in my head. Your no one to be telling me anything as you have never won a SF4 tournament, beaten any SF4 top players or even hold a impressive winning record agaisnt your own community. Mosty importantly you have never beaten me and asking for a mm agaisnt me like I have to prove something to you is laughable. Like I mentioned before untill your able to replicate my feats at this game your argument and accusations are worthless, and before we can start talking about mms you have to prove to me that your worthy of that kind fo attention from me to begin with. Fight me in a online set FT10, Ill pick dan and if you beat me Ill gladly accept your offer. Ciao and plz dont troll this thread.

Fuck. Dans not even a bad character anymore.

Dan vs anyone without a fireball is pretty much usually even imo.
He probably has better offense than Guy XD
