i’m into saskatoon getting an offline thing going provided this does not become an ego stroke. ricardo wants competition, if you aren’t into levelling up your game, stay the fuck home. this opens up the door to a regina/saskatoon hosted tournament, and a whole bunch of fun things.
and for real. I would love for an MK9 exhibition, even if its EC canada, vs WC canada. me, merlin, levar, winnipeg dudes vs team neorussel. IM DOWN. or me, merlin, levar, winnipeg dudes, neorussel vs whoever thinks they can stand up to canadas best, in canadas true game. MK.
The remaining players in town are the dedicated ones from the toon town fight group so I think the potential for improvement is tremendous. Also like you said this isnt to stroke my ego or for my benefit, I just want for sask to have a thriving gaming community of good players. Once the guys here can break even with me and start to lead me in sets I think sask tournies between regina and sask can get really interesting. Alos once the guys here start to level up to my status of skill, sask and regina will be able to dominate regionally agasint AB and winnipeg…prepare for west coast civil war!
Yeah… Well… I’m… Probably… The best T Hawk… So… Nyah!
Ahahahahahah.
Well, ultimately talk is cheap and so it’s probably better to move this forward pretty quick… Before it all falls into such a state of abandon that this all becomes a foggy pipedream.
Hawk is good in 2012 from what I read, people are sleeping on him imo.
Your right too, so what do you guys think about a venue. We still need confirmation on the other people but from what dar has told me,evan, jeremie and himself are down. I guess that makes you, losha, dar, evan, jeremie and myself in, we stll need word from josh and jay(although from my conversation with jay im 100% certain he’s in)and anyone else who might still be lurking around.
Well, I like Hawk as he is. The ONLY thing I wanted changed, and is apparently happening, is that Raging Slash is being changed from that goddamned stupid half circle back x2 motion. ALSO, Neutral Jump body splash.
Got a feeling Hawk is going slide even further down the Tier lists in 2012. Mark my words, he’ll be under Dan.
I think hawk might be better then gief in some situations, trust me he has some good normals and I think once the right person uses him at high level its gonna really open peoples eyes. Maybe that could be you man!
Hmm well we got jayson who said he could potentially host next month, evan is currently hosting for jeremie, dar and himself. However I think both places have a limit on how many people can be present and I want to avoid a situation of relying on housing again just because we need open room for all of us to gather. I could host but my apartment could never house more then 5 people, so i think our best bet is the education building at the university. What do you think?
It’s a great place. Lots of space. Need to bring set ups; might be a big problem.
Also it’s a rather central location… I could generally always find a way to get there, and all the buses stop there if worse comes to worse and people need to Public Transit it. Also, could attract new players. Could be some closet FG players who don’t know there’s a community (or, rather, will be, I suppose) and it would be an avenue to find some new blood.
I graduated from University, so I don’t know if that matters… Push around my weight as a alum, maybe. Either way, it’s a very nice place if the alternatives are cramped apartments.
My basement is hardly ideal, either… Don’t know how it’d work with lots of people.
I think we could probably alternate every week for set ups, also if transportation is a problem I suppose I could always be willing to give people rides every now and then. That would up to the discretion for those of us who drive and have cars.
We have so many fighters coming out, UMVC3,KOF13 and 2012, not to mention MK9,3s,BB and a few others ive forgetting too mention. I think if this community happens we all have to be organized on how these events will be spent and what we work towards each time. My goal right now is for us to be at a point where we could travel to other provinces and win provincial battles, I dont think its that far off cause we have some guys here with great potential.
Edit: Thats awesome man congrats. Well I think if we sent flyers of toon town fights around the university were bound to find some new people. This city has a population of 200K+ so im sure we have more then just 7 guys to offer. I remember awhile ago some guys set up a gaming room or club through the university, maybe you could try that out and see if thats a possibility?
Also yeah the only alternative is crammed apartments and small spaces and from experience it doesnt work out that well in the long run.
I remember seeing something about a club or something… Then it kind of went quiet.
Regardless, it’s probably better to keep it at 7 while testing venues and what not. Nothing worse than getting a throng of people and then having venue issues and everyone becomes extremely soured on the whole idea.
In the end, actions will win out over words. Better to just do it rather than fill up time with idle planning.
I agree too, i think realistically we will probably get maybe 5-7 of us anyways for the meets. Time will tell how its going to turn out but I think if we establish a strong base for the community this time we can see good results. Regina only has maybe 7-9 people but their players are strong for the most part. I think its very possible for sask to have a commnity of very strong players in the 5-7 range. Ill help and contribute my experience and do what I can to make people get to where they need to be.
Edit: In terms of SF games, I think I can get everyone to where Im standing at. Just through enough games and repetition, working on things and dicussion I can see a lot of improvment in the neat future.
Speaking of fighting games, I dont see the appeal behind UMVC3. I hate to sound like a elitist but the marvel series looks so scrubby. I might be set in my ways in terms of the traditional fighting game experience but watching that game makes me think that MVC3 is the mcdonalds of fighting games. Im not saying people who enjoy it are scrubby since it can be fun to watch at high level, but I dunno Id just feel like im compromising my fighting game skills by taking it too seriously. Id rather have 3s as my mistress instead.
Speaking of 3s, dar says he is confident in being the best 3s player in town but so am I. I dont think a lot of people could beat me in 3s,…well except shane cause of his dirty akuma!
However agaisnt most people regionally or even just in west coast canada, I cant see too many people beating me consistently with the exception of maybe the BC guys since they have moe powell and C. Im not as good as I was back in the day at 3s though, but im still decent enough and fortunately lots of people are new to 3s and cant even parry multi-hits yet heh.
Are you coming to cc Shane, Winnipeg has to do their 5 v 5 against ab. I want Sask to do one too against ab in sf4, hopefully Ed have enough sf4 players that are interested. If not I’ll solo the team nachos hehe;)
