just throwing this out there, but the little rooms you can rent at Travelodge are sick. Probably expensive as hell though.
so whos going to CC?
Im glad I got housing this time for CC,hotels just suck so much extra $ that I could spend on other stuff lol.
I wonder which bracket ill be in and hopefully it isnt filled with too many top players. If its mainly just regional guys from like AB and BC I shouldnt have a issue making it out so hopefully I get lucky and fight only canadian talent untill the top 8 lol.
Since it’s my birthday I’m in a super good mood so I just wanted to tell you guys that I love you all!!!
go and look at the amount of players. last year there were 4 brackets? GL. aint gonna be no easy brackets, and your training should emphasize this. you should be training to beat the top players, not training to beat the other canadians. regina is focused on MK9, and we are all training to WIN mk9, we sure as hell aren’t training to lose to jwong or perfect legend, thats for damn sure.
I don’t got any training lol, I got no training partners who can simulate top players. Don’t get me wrong I’d like to beat these top players but my best bet is just to beat the Canadian dudes and try my best against the top players. I should probably start playing sf again though, gonna try to grind from now till cc.
So Sask Gang, how many of you folks are flying over driving to Calgary next month (SHIT CC IS NEXT MONTH!! X_X )
We have Air Canada discount codes but I know a lot of you will be hitting the highway instead. If you pre-register and still need the code, PM me or send me an e-mail: troy(at)canada-cup.ca
I think most of us will be driving or taking the bus since I remember it being damn expensive to fly when i went there last year. Thanks though troy, and damn CC is getting close.
I think sask will also have a good representation this year, we got probably 5+ people coming down and I think the regina guys will do great at MK9. We should do a province vs province battle though if enough people show from each province, I think that would be pretty hype to watch and see how the provinces rank agaisnt each other.
So is there any actual saskatoon players here that want to play or running casuals? I’ve moved here from Toronto like a month ago and I don’t want my skills to go to crap. I may head down to Canada cup, though BB and Marvel are my main two games.
Sup man welcome to Sask.
Unfortunately the community here disbanded around the summer and the remanding players are scattered and don’t meet up for games anymore. I also don’t even know who’s left in Sask that still plays, but my guess would be that me and losha are the last sf dudes in town.
Anyhow I’m the top sf guy in the province and I’m always down for games . Indont play marvel or bb but I’m willing to learn, so if you want to get together for games let me know.
CONDOR DIVE!
Andddd I’m back. What’d I miss?
EDIT: By the way, anyone in Sask have a really good Blanka? I need to work on that match up.
Blanka is easy mode once you figured out 1 simple trick agaisnt him,…just block and wait him out. I used to have issues with blanka too untill I just started to turtle in the match and wait till the blanka player got restless and would rush in. This is basically true agaisnt most charge characters like rog, vega or bison so as long as you just wait and not act too agressive in the match you shouldnt have a issue.
I wrote a long ass essay about starting a new toon town fights and it all got deleted,…FUCK!
Anyways guys ill make this short and sweet. I want to"reboot the scene"and start toon town fights again but this time under different management. Its been months since a large gathering of players and I think its time sask gets a community rolling again. This time its going to be about the games, having fun and improving as it was always intended to be. With that said I want to know who would be interested in attending these gatherings for the new toon town fights commnunity.
From my count the people in the city who still play are:
Evan
Jeremie
Darcius
Josh
Jared
Ricardo
Jayson
Losha
Nothing is set in terms of a venue or even how this community is going be organized. This wont be decided untill we get confirmation on who is going to show up. Once we get the numbers down then we can move on into discussion regarding hosting and so on and so forth. If your down for a rebooted toon town fights and new gatherings plz let us know, thanks dudes and hopefully this works this time lol.
the fuck
lol fixed:)
REBOOT THE SCENE!!111!!!1!!!
But anyways, I’d be up for it. High odds I’ll purchase a car next summer 'cause I’m saving up all winter pretty much, so yeah…
Probably slim chance I could get anything done during winter. Summer I’ll be all over it. Also, i’m still a firm believer that we really need some kind of 10-20 person venue. But I guess the question is the hell we get money for that…
EDIT: I also for some reason have a feeling my school is FULL of MvC3 players… but I cant really tell, cause no one ever points anything out from my MvC2 shirt XD. It always seems like I overhear people saying MvC3 though…
Lap Chi isn’t interested in doing an exhibition for MK9, thats my understanding, not enough demand, and not enough people signing up for it.
However, if somebody wanted to setup an exhibition, we have enough strong members to put a 5man team together just from regina, provided t-smoke makes it, otherwise we would have to recruit someone.
Me and merlin discussed an MK exhibition, and I think the best bet would probably be, me, merlin, levar, winnipeg player, and neorussell vs international team. however, once again being stated, that there is not enough MK9 interest, or player demand. However, if it was going to be done up for afterhours, I would be very interested, I understand that the CCG crew has a lot of planning, and a ridiculously strict schedule, and time would not allow another exhibition going on, though I think an MK9 exhibition would do well to show the game to people, and maybe (hopefully?) get more players involved. So if you want to ask lap chi, go ahead. Regina is interested, but more importantly, are the tournament directors interested? are the spectators interested? is there even enough international MK players to make it happen? is there time to make it happen? I’m just not sure. I think our best bet at real MK games would be to play them in the tournament, however, we are just tournament players and spectators at the end of the day, and the decision is not ours to make. It would definitely be fun though.
Your best approach is to handle it like Burzy does.
Upon overhearing anyone merely mention anything about a fighting game, sprint over to that crowd of people yelling MONEY MATCH repeatedly directly in their face until they become slightly intimidated. That’s how you’ll know,
Losha: if everyone shows interest I imagine we’ll probably meet up somewhere like the education building until we find a venue suitable for 5+ people. If you need a ride I’ll drive you, and I’ll look around again for a venue. Try to see if you know anyone else who is interested and this goes for everyone else as well. Dalton let’s hope lapchi does something like that for mk9, but my guess is that he is banking on sf4 beyond anything else.
Well I’m interested.
Though I only play AE and 3S, I’d be willing to get into other games if need be.
Yeah that’s another thing I wanted to mention, I don’t want this just to be a sf thing but a fighting game thing. I think the more games we get exposed to the better our core fundalmentals will improve. Even if we only have 5 or so people if we make a concentrated effort to improve and grind hard during our gatherings I don’t see why we can’t all get better.
