Are we playing the same game? 3s is fun, but… this is just factually incorrect, lol.
Also, I think SF4 is a very heavily footsies-oriented game. There are only a few characters that break the mold a bit, everyone else does a lot of footsies. Like… a lot.
Are you playing the same 3s I have been playing? Most characters have either very good dashes and at the least overall useful dashes. Every character has at least a couple of normals with great active frames, big hitboxes and great frame advantage. Sure SF4 has some characters with awesome normals, Fei, Rog and pre nerf Ryu come to mind, but overall a larger percentage of the 3s cast has better normals. Obviously the design philosophy between the games has something to do with it.
The first thing I noticed transitioning from 3s to SF4 was how shit the dashes and normals were in comparison.

And consider this - Urien is only mid-tier in 3s. Put him as is in SF4 and he runs over people. (actually that’s kinda what they did with yun)

When we played 3s again the normals felt so fast and in addition to the increased walk speed and dashes from everyone, the footsie game was such a radical departure from sf4 in that everyone literally had a good footsie game including even the bottom tiers. It seems like at least 2-3 normals per character were chun like, while in direct comparison sf4 only has maybe 2-6 characters in the entire roster with exceptionally good normals(fei,rog,bison,rose,chun,yun,yang) but even then it only seemed like 1-2 or 2 normals were great.
I didn’t realized how bad my footsie game has got until I played 3s again. In sf4 I rarely get out footsie but in 3s Shane showed me how scrubby I got lol.
Regina player “skulltr0n” aka “Burzy306” has reportedly ducked a money match/King of Sask multi game challenge vs Mike aka “BoyWonder”
The two were set to face head to head in a first to five in both SSF4AE and MVC3 where the total wins between the two would determine the victory.
Burzy was declared a no show late Monday night where he was set to debut his brand new MVC3 team.
This match, along with his MK9 money match vs Merlando will be postponed until this upcoming Sunday.

Urien is really good but like Shane said mid tier in 3s. Poor wakeup options besides wasting a bar for EX aegis. Jab dangerous headbutt is still only 7 frame startup, slow as hell. St. RH -5 on hit?! lol fool gets supered but some for pressing that button. Moves being negative on hit is lols, I play Urien tho. Still 3s is my favourite game next to ST.

Rik, I haven’t dropped SSF4 but I only play once and awhile on xbl or PC:AE. I would play more if there was interest here to play AE. Dalton and I played a set couple weeks ago at Merlins, and Merlin has been getting back into it a bit. I’ve been spending most of my time playing ST on GGPO oddly enough. :sad:

Yeah norman ive been playing a lot of deus ex lately and I havnt found much people to play SF4 with anymore. The game feels like its passing its popularity or something.

Akuma in AE feels like a castrated 3s akuma lol. Man 3s akuma is intense, his hurricane kick is SOOO good but outside that he’s just so fast and aggressive. Its like a fighting agaisnt a really pissed off shoto who just wants to hit you all the time,…and in this case he does:(
Edit: Its funny that in SF4 I relied too much on fei’s reversal options and in 3s I rely too much on parries. Like even when I was parrying a lot of your offense shane, all that work went for nothing cause the second I guessed wong Id eat a mix up then all the suddent Id be stunned lol.
To play 3s the way i used to play it id have to unlearn everything SF4 taught me and go back to the basics.If only SF4 played like 3s without parries that way my skill in older fighting games wouldnt turn to shit.
I think 3s has it’s share of issues but at least it rewards aggression and creativity much more than SSF4. Allowing for creativity equals more fun.
Well I noticed our styles changed a lot when we play in 3s or in SF4. Like lets face it in SF4 we can get away with a lot of shit we wouldnt be able to in other games. SF4 isnt a template for fighting games so if your good at SF4 your only good at that game and not any others. Like in playing SF4 for the last 2 years ive noticed my skill in past titles or even other fighting games drop dramatically. In direct comaprison to the time I was maining HDR, I found my template of skills in that game transfered rather nicely to other titles.
In sf4 when I play fei I feel like I can only play him a certain way and it gets quite boring since his style is so linear and repetitive. SF2 fei was very different and had some diversity and flexibility with his matches, it wasnt just the same basic game plan in every fight. It also felt so much more rewarding winning with fei back in the day, like I won as much as I did back then with fei as I do now(well probably more back then)but it doesnt feel the same,…hollow victory.
