Saskatchewan Thread 2011

What tournament results…you mean the ones at tuby dogs lol, c’mon man that scene is free and shouldn’t count for anything. If your results were so good you would have at least broke top 8 for CC and MM but you didnt and to be honest anytime I see you fight a good opponent you always get your ass kicked.I dont care about a laggy set with Jozhear from 5 months ago, I would take my set with him in person more seriously.

As for being known outside the province, you are actually known…known as the guy who trolls online and hides from good players in person lol. If you think Fei is easy to win with then by all means play as him, although I could just easily play you with dan and still win. No amount of justification will excuse you for being a terrible player dude, and unlike you I dont have a scene or brother who I can play with so you have no excuses.

Jamie: I started playing SF4 seriously with SSF4, so to be more accurate you and most of AB have had at least a good year head start on me.

Necro: Thats not what happened, the AB guy tried booking in advance with me but we couldnt find a place. We both decided to just do casuals untill glow offered her place. I said I would come but couldnt make it (because of a little thing called “life”) and thats all that happen.

As for people not willing to pay for games, if its cheap enough in a good venue with enough exposure they will. PC SF4:AE running on the cove set ups could easily work so anybody who is thinking it wont should kindly STFU untill they have had a chance to test it.

Good to see SK’s community banding to together even if it is out of all this drama, don’t let one person taint it for everyone.

and rik stop pming me about there being insults, they are trash talking which is allowed, ill get involved if they start putting up personal details or things of that nature.

Don’t let you ego ruin the scene in your city, nurture it to find the competition you want.

my 2 cents

do you ever plan on coming to Alberta again? You absolutely must be developmentally challenged. I know some 11 year olds who are more mature than you are, and some kindergarteners who are smarter.

Dan-Abel is a 6-4 matchup for Dan.

Pick different words next time. “Justification” and “excuse” do not go together. This is straight up insane troll logic. You would have a scene if you were not one of the most reprehensible people I have ever known in my life… you simultaneously damaged your scene and alienated yourself from whatever was left with your behavior. Can you not recognize that?

FYI That is a rhetorical question. I know you can’t because you have admitted as much yourself.

You are a phony and a liar. Your word is worthless, as are you as a person. No one will ever believe you about anything.

I was actually complaning about the obvious troll accounts but whatever.

Anyhow this community wont go anywhere unless it has good direction, and thats what im trying to do. Im trying to get people here in line so that we can all gather together and build a strong community base. On that note I want to explain something to you Kman.

The whole point of video games is to enjoy yourself and if all you want is a good time then more power to you. However if your competitive and want to improve your game then no one in this scene can help you except me. You see it doesnt matter if you spend 8 hours every weekend doing casuals or grinding endless hours in training mode because it isnt about how much time you put in but about how you spend that time. I play maybe around 2-3 hours a week and the reason im beyond anyone here is because of how I spend my time in those few hours.

This isnt to say everyone in the scene is trash but considering the amount of time they put into it there is no real reason why I should be able to troll with dan and still win handily. You cant improve in this game unless you fight someone better then you, otherwise who else can show you your mistakes and teach you how to play. Sadly no one here knows how to properly play SF so all the time they spend with the game amounts to nothing. It all comes down to the mindset you have when you play, granted its sweet to have great resources but it wont matter if your approach to the game is all wrong…this is why EC dominates WC.

With all that said you can go ahead and try to build something on your own, but if your going to organize it in the same manner as the current one then you wont get good and just be another training dummy for me. On top of that you wont lure in many players and only attract a small number of dedicated players…so basically its toon town fights all over again.

Just my 2 cents but anyways im out so have fun dudes.

Cody Im not going to take advice from someone who sucks at the game and who spend his whole trip at evo hiding away from players out of fear of getting his ass kicked because he trolled them. Besides this conversation isnt even about you so kindly go back to freeberta and stay out of my thread plz. I wont respond to you unless its in regards to a set, and ill even pick a character who abel has a advantage against so you can have a fighting chance. Thank you and ciao.

just quoting for posterity

lol good idea mike

admittedly I did duck on Rico Suave because I was straight up intimidated but you are probably talking about Shane, in which case I don’t particularly care. I was easy to find two nights but never saw him, and the rest of the time I had better shit to do. SPEARMINT RHINO > some angry geek from manitoba

you know how to play Gouken, right? we can try that matchup sometime if you want

evo ive always tried to be real and fair with you, but you have to realize the reason sask doesnt have a scene is because of you. you turn everyone away with your constant personal attacks on anyone who criticizes you for anything, and your nonstop chest beating like a street fighter champion gorilla

realize that without being a major winner, with real tournament winnings and results(not your imaginary rating scale based on casual or online matches, but tournament settings) nobody is going to take you seriously. have you never wondered why nobody takes your side? the most sympathy you get is from me probably who praises your skill at the game, but lambasts your complete lack of social awareness

you alienate everyone around you and just need to chill the fuck out. you know how a scene starts? its by a number of people who enjoy the game trying to take it to the next level. a to b, b to c. you’re going -z to c. you want to create this super competitive community in saskatchewan, when there isn’t even casual players to develop. you’re trying to put decorations on the christmas tree when its still rooted in the forest

NOBODY LIKES THE IDEAS YOU SUGGEST. have you ever wondered why this is? its because THEY ARE ALL FOR YOUR BENEFIT ONLY. before your eventual rebuttal which i know is going to be: WELL GEE FOGER THEY ARE GOING TO BENEFIT FROM PLAYING ME AND GETTING BETTER! NYAAA NYAAAA. think about the fact that nobody wants to be in the same room as you, let alone play you, let alone train with you all the time

just some food for thought. the best thing you can do for the sk community is to stay out of it, and just try to be a good player. you’re obviously not a community leader, and the proof is in the pudding - nobody is following your lead. nobody.

You have been spewing this 2-3 hour a week thing for a long time. I can’t comment on the last little while, but in the past it’s been awhile.
Also, all anyone is gonna get from playing with you is a bigger hate on, and how to get bored.

No one in the scene is trash, but you. Everyone has fun, but you. This Dan thing is another thing you constantly go on about, and he’s not even that bad. In some match-ups he’s even good. Beating people with Dan isn’t much of an accomplishment.
That, and you’ve never done it.

There are no players to lure. Have fun playing with the people you’ve “lured” in with HTA. “oh hai i played a game once.” Now, our current system would welcome any skill level, but you are only interested in playing with certain people and that way you push everyone away. What are you looking for? To lure in new players so you can crush them and they never come back?
I’m reminded of the first time my sister EVER played HDR – with you – and you didn’t even let her figure out the controls before you KO’d her, over and over. WOW. WHAT FUN.

If I recall my time at Evo2k10, Cody made it apparent where he would be at Evo for the MM against Shane so he wasn’t ducking at all.

Also, real talk Spearmint Rhino is godlk. Shout outs to the Calgary thread and FG lingo lol Spearmint Rhino has ruined every strip joint for me. :frowning:

EDIT: OMG there were like 5 posts while I was typing this, so I will just post it anyways, sorry if I repeat other people.

While its a honourable idea to lead a community to put it in the right (or any) direction, it just seems to me (and others, from what I can see) that you are just going about it wrong. You may be better than me (scratch that, I know you are) and for all I know you are the best in SK… but you shouldn’t hold that over our heads. The point of “leading” a community is to “lead” it, not proclaim yourself the best and make people learn from “the best.” To foster community growth is to take all the ups and downs, ideas and critiques, and mold them into an achievable goal for everyone.

For instance; I am a complete scrub at all fighting games. I have zero skill right now, and online play is difficult for me, because I get rocked constantly. You mentioned that the only way to get better competitively is to consistantly fight someone better than you until you win. That is not how it should be done. You fight players at your skill level. And by having a group of people that actually want to help each other out and AS A GROUP want to better themselves at the game, they will play each other AND help each other out. By telling me to constantly fight someone like you is only going to turn me off the game. By fighting someone at your skill level the idea that you can actually stand a chance against them is enough to keep them wanting more, and sticking around.

Virtually everyone in this community is better than me. But it seems to me that if you want to make the community grow, you need to have the competitive players teach and help the scrubs (me) how to properly play the game. It seems to me that you don’t help out “with their mistakes” - you just tell them what it is they are doing wrong, and leave it at that. I can’t speak for everyone, because I haven’t met everyone, but I think offering assistance and providing solutions or acheiveable goals will help them get better.

If everyone “doesn’t know how to spend their time in the game” or however you like to put it, then TEACH US. If you are the BEST, show us how you got there. Help us LEARN.

Obviously, we won’t become good overnight. This kind of thing requires time, effort, and on most occassions, the ability to be groovy enough to teach the new kids. If you don’t want to provide any of those, then you might as well find a new group of people to chill with.

igfy; you guys sound like lots of fun to chill out with. You guys live in town, hey? I’ve been to HiTech and I do like it there, but it just doesn’t seem like an outsider-friendly place. Have you guys thought about community halls or churches? Most of the time you pay like a monthly fee for like a basement or something. Maybe we could build on that. As well, I live near the Ex, so maybe I can find a room or something there.

EDIT X2: Looks like I kinda repeated what foger said. Sorry dude!

Hey Ricky. Take a pic of your total playtime on both your vanilla SF4 and your SSF4 copies for 360 and we’ll actually do the math. You might only play 2-3 hours a week NOW, but I can guaranteed you were online that much a day during most of 2010.

This is one of the sickest posts I’ve read in this thread. What kind of a scumbag “friend” are you. You made plans with these guys from out of province. They offered to pony up a lot of cash to have a good time. Then it was decided that you would just play casuals. But, in the end you didn’t show because you had better things to do. Do you not realise how scummy that is? What happens if Glow didn’t offer her place? Would you have just left these guys stranded? I’m pretty sure you would. You are scum.

By the way you’re free in SFIV.

Guy vs Fei is pretty bs. And Guy Dan is even. Just sayin’
Also, I was much more intrigued than by any of your things. Also, just sayin’.

Edit: Also, if anyone wants some games, hit me if im on Losha. Havent played any of you in a while, im alot better.
Also, Rusty Macdonald library (the one by lawson mall) has rooms you can rent for freebies (I think) that fit 15 or so. It might not be free though, I know that rooms for 40-80 cost, and I’ve never looked into the smaller rooms. I’m just assuming theyre either free or fairly cheap.

Honestly, no I haven’t looked into it. My roommate likes to play but doesn’t really like to do the planning. When we moved in here in 09 we started hosting here and I did some minor organising to help out. I used to play SFIV and SSFIV quite a bit when I had nothing to do, but I haven’t played much in quite awhile. Community halls/churches are a good idea. I mostly haven’t looked into it because personally I like being at my place so I can come and go and it’s easy for me. There isn’t a guaranteed turnout, so I haven’t put in the effort. I believe Thoughtbird was looking at a hall near his place for awhile but I think it didn’t work out. If you want to do that though and you have some ideas I’d be happy to help, I just didn’t really wanna do it all by myself. Hah.

Yawn im getting quite bored so I dont know how else I can say this so Ill just be direct and hopefully that will solve everything…I DONT CARE lol. Like seriously dudes I just dont care and I have no interest in this or any community outside just the competitive aspect. I got bigger fish to fry in real life and so I dont give a flying fuck over the social aspect of a video game community that will not benefit me in any meaniful way 5-10 years from now. You see with busniess owners, fitness jocks, sluts at the bar or with people who can benefit my life I’m very “social aware”, but with gamers…who gives a fuck lol. I am who I am and im just here to play games, if people dont like my attitude they can go and fuck themselves. Take it or leave it but that just how I do business:)

Allie: You never have anything intelligent to say but I do wanna correct you on 2 things. For the dan thing, I’ve beaten dustin and a lot of TTF people with dan already and im more then happy to do a repeat performance. As for the HTA thing, they were all ready for it but you guys bitched about pricing so we have no one to blame for its failure but you guys.

With the whole HDR thing with lori, yeah true I didnt give her a chance but I guess thats just because I dont play casually.

Merlin: I played SSF4 more in 201o and averaged around a hour and a half a day excluding weekends.

Kman: Lets break it down like this, Im more then happy to lead and work together with the people here to build a strong community. If they want my help then Ill help, however that choice isnt up to me but the people in this group so untill they decide they want my help my hands are unfortunately tied. Also with my time being incredibly crunched I cant build this community on my own, it needs to be a group effort because most of us have very busy lives. Ill help out with the few hours of spare time I can afford, and personally id like for all of us to work together on this. PM for contact info and ttyl:)

nobody that types that much doesn’t care. if all you do care about is seeing how you can use people to your benefit, your title as a psycho really does fit.

it’s like you’re trying to cultivate this image of being above the rabble, and YOU ALONE are pulling the strings. but we’ve already seen behind the curtain and the emperor is wearing no clothes.

if thats really how you feel then you should stop coming here and go back to paying jwong to play you online to level up

what you are describing is not a community or a scene

So… again. People here aren’t interested in paying money for casuals.

You are never “social aware”, you are fake. There is a difference. That’s why maybe you CAN talk to sluts at the bar or fitness jocks who don’t know you, for a few minutes… and then nothing comes of it. You can’t keep that fake persona forever. Too bad, really.

Also, see quote for reference to why no one likes you. If people don’t like you, they can just not play with you. And it’s what happened.

If you don’t care about the social aspect, then why did you begin primarily adding dozens upon dozens of people from the sf community onto your facebook (a website for personal social networking).

THANKS FOR THE ADD CHICA.

I think deep down, Ricardo just wants to have friends and to be accepted for the quirky but charming guy that he is.

Everyone, let’s just show him some love. Let us allow Ricky to lead us, forgive us for our sins, and take us on the path to eternal street fighter glory. A place filled with chickenwings, faulty controllers, and legions of females willing to throw their vulvas your way.

LET’S GET SOME GAMES IN MATE.
