For the record too, I’ve been active in my scene for the past 5 years plus. I’ve made life long friends with these guys, who I remain friends with long after the systems get turned off. Through laughter, compassion, and comradery they have greatly benefited my life and I hope I’ve done the same for them. The fighting game community has a lot more to offer besides the competitive aspect of it. One day when you grow up I hope you realize this.
If you ever grow some balls and come to the East coast you realize that while games can get heated and there are intense rivalries were all still a bunch of friends who get together to have a good time playing video games. If we didn’t have a good time playing, we’d all stop.
I’m new to the matchmaking thread and I don’t like Ric so I must be a troll account.
You expect people to believe you play 2 hours a week when you’re obsessed enough to post like 20 times a day? You talk about spending time wisely when you post hourly on SRK forums in a thread in which everyone justifiably loathes you? lol.
I havent been in this thread in a while, and it delivers.
One thing that comes to mind in this thread, was back a few pages when ricky is saying that jozhear didnt beat him in a set. I bodied you two days in a row, and then you come on here preaching how I lost to you, and I just kept my mouth shut, but the fact that you facebook message me saying “youll never play me online again because you have bigger fish to fry.” just shows you’re scared buddy. your free in mk. anytime i’d walk into jump spacing, you’d jump on an uppercut. ENDLESSLY. you shadow kick on wakeup, EVERYTIME. but enough about that. If I don’t end up going on strike and attend evo. I will play you 2/3 for 150$, in mk9. all i have to say is, i’ve beaten you for money once, and i will do it again.
accept?
2-1, 3-1, 5-3. thats how our online set went, and I was on the winning side everytime. YOU ARE FREE LIKE SOULS HARBOUR AND THE FOODBANK.
ps, loved your facebook status re: being a depressed person with no friends. classic. i don’t even post dumb stuff like that when i’m 3/4 the way through a 40 pounder. SUP NOW?
“If they want my help then I will help - but if they don’t then I’m gone until they do”
“I’m bored and don’t care - but I would like everyone to help out”
It looks to me like you want to be a part of a community, but contribute nothing to it. Sorry bro, that just does not fly. If you do want to help, make it clear that you are willing, and then actually help. Don’t be a hypocrite
To clearify, I want a competitive community and not a casual community. This may be a difference of opinion between us, but ill happily help if its towards a legitimate competitive scene. I’ve already done enough for the TTFs community in the way of initially brining everyone together, starting this thread and the TTF site so Ive already done my fair share of work.
I have a lot of ideas of how to start things, but like I said no community can be a 1 man show so without any help my hands are tied.
You can’t have a competitive community without a casual community in the same way you can’t wish an apple tree into your backyard without planting a single seed. Do you think the MTL and TO started as good as they are? Do you think everyone who goes to MTLSF is a killer?? Your desire for a competitive community out of the gates is naive. You shit on Alberta but we have two very strong communities with numerous players who are developing more and more every week. You know why? Because we network, we enjoy each other’s company and we settle any beefs like adults.
And honestly Ric . . . when you say “I’ve already done enough for the TTFs community in the way of initially brining everyone together, starting this thread and the TTF site so Ive already done my fair share of work.”
Take it from experience . . . if you want to be a leader in a community you’re never done working. You say you play 2 -3 hours a week, that’s all well and good. If you want to lead a community maybe you should be putting that time if it’s all you have into repairing a lot of these relationships you’ve shit on (from what I can gather from this thread) and fostering a sense of community instead of animosity.
I used this word a lot so just so just to clear up any confusion: Community: A feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals
I agree Troy, its just been difficult to try and organize something in Sask because we lack a venue and that’s the part thats really hurting our progress. You guys got tuby dogs, TO has HQ and every other province seems to have somewhere to gather…but we still dont even after a year of toon town fights starting. Our only hope is the PC set-ups at a arcade inside a university, however its a gamble and if it doesnt work out I dont know where else to turn.
I know a competitive scene wont happen instantly and lts something that will always be a work in progress. However if we can start off with a good foundation and build this community with a sense of purpose and direction then I feel we will already be on the right track. As for the community itself, well its small now but I know we have hidden players in town so hopefully if we can secure a good public venue then it wont be long before we see the player base expand. We might not be like AB or the other provinces in terms of numbers, but I know we can do better then our current roster.
This part I especially agree with and honestly, as someone who wants to lead and build this communtiy I’ve been lacking in this role. I guess somewhere along the way I lost sight of this goal, and in the mist of losing sight I was partially responsible for this community division. Its silly and a waste of everyones time, this effort and time could have gone to something far more productive but instead it made this communtiy a joke. Well the year is still young and I dont want this to be a repeat of last year so from here on out im going to put a honest effort to finally getting the scene off the ground.
Kman if your serious about wanting to build a community Ill help in anyway I can.I cant make up for all the wasted time on past nonsense but I can at least help in moving forward to a true community.
True story: I was at EVO with Jamie last year and I asked him to text something to another Calgary player so we could meet up for dinner. He texted so damn fast I couldn’t believe it. I was like “whaaaat?” and he just looked at me, like “yeah that’s how I roll”. Jamie probably doesn’t even remember this, but he has bigger fish to fry than me.
It counts for this: we look forward to going to Tubby’s every week, and we have fun playing the game together.
Isn’t that the point of playing better players, to get your ass kicked so you can level up? I don’t see the point here. You’re trying to insult him but you’re actually surreptitiously complimenting him.
Which sets would those be? The ones where he beat you at Marvel Madness?
It may take 2-3 hours a week, but man, you’ve got that chicken wing input down pat by now.
Dan isn’t that bad in SSF4.
And then, 4 minutes later…
I guess it is your thread, and not Saskatchewan’s thread. Look at all the discussion going on!
I’d like to see you beat Cody’s Abel with Vega. Or maybe Dhalsim.
Just wanted to highlight some points out of this excellent post. Getting your face beaten in repeatedly is not fun, and it’s not conducive to learning.
Same post, ladies and gentlemen.
Also, a page or two back, didn’t someone offer to help build a Saskatchewan scene with people who want to be a part of it, and you told him “Good luck”, essentially saying he’s on his own?
… you’re cutthroat enough to beast on someone’s sister, who has never played SF before?
This is an A+ post.
I just wanted to quote Troy, because Troy is the man.
Just some comments from an outsider.
By the way, don’t try to solve this by challenging me to SSF4. I played Jamie tonight in a super sick Dudley mirror, then an even sicker Guy mirror. What resulted was some of the highest level SSF4 seen in… I dunno how long, but at least a few hours. I’m somebody you don’t want to mess with. I will pick random, and then I will win.
… you’re cutthroat enough to beast on someone’s sister, who has never played SF before?*
I am too! I got old man hands! I’ll take any win I can get. I’ll complete destroy ALL OF YOUR GUYS SISTERs at street fighter. I challenge you to solve this over a SSF4 match, winner is right. I’ll pick Akuma, I haven’t played street fighter in months. You will win.
Correction, one that I lost and the next one I won.
Yeah for sure, now if only people could learn how to hold back or down back during it:)
Easily, although I dont know what beasting someone with my non main would prove…
To be fair that post was from Allie and I think its already been established that we cant take her seriously.
Of course, like in typical "online tough guy"fashion someone talks a big game then doesnt want to prove it. Its cool though it isnt like beating you would prove anything to anyone or myself.
Yeah but most if not all of these peole are a nobody so who cares. It a collection of rage quits, saulty bad players, trolls or Allie so I dont sweat it.
you still fuck up chicken wings with hilarious frequency
you aren’t capable of it
of course, in typical Rik fashion you phase randomly between varying incompatible mindsets. you need clinical help.
we don’t care what you think. and you do sweat it. don’t pretend otherwise.
never forget that you too are a nobody. a Fei Long of your caliber is not good enough to warrant
widespread respect in the scene. you are more known for your unique personality and behavior on this forum… like me! we are not the same, though.
Now as for people like Infill, foger or anyone outside the province I wanna tell you this. I dont know what your ultimate intention is with some of these post but save it. Im not saying that to be rude or anything but like I I’ve said before…I simply dont care. Not because you guys dont have any insight or even some good suggestions but because you guys dont know the community in Sask the way I do. As a result you dont understand why I act the way I do towards them or even just my general attitude towards Sask. Online post tell only half the story so im sure any objective person can realize there is a lot more going on then what these boards show.
Regardless its a worthless topic because it could literally continue into infinity and nothing would ever get resolved. Thats why my only intention from this point on is to focus on the community and try to be productive for a change. So hopefully all the "other stuff"can just be reserved for some other venue because Id really hate to see this thread derailed anymore. Thanks)
I said $50 MM, you said $100. I said you weren’t worth it and the offer for $50 stood. it was for our egos anyways, what does money count for in that situation…?
three days went by where we in the same hotel, doing the same things, and I never saw you once. you are pretty big on preaching down to people from the “top”… the Salty Suite was a good place to prove you were worth somethin. that is where Jamie made a name for himself, and you were never there. it wasn’t until we were all home that you posted saying you thought the match was off, even though literally the last word on the entire situation before I got on the plane to Vegas was that we could have played $50 any time
just wondering, how bad did it hurt when you found out we got the same results at Evo?
this will indeed continue on for infinity. I see it as a public service to out you as psychotic every couple pages just so that anyone in Saskatchewan who wants to play Street Fighter knows exactly what you are and what they will have to contend with.
