Didn’t say it was perfect, just that MK9 is being built around that style of gameplay. After watching some more developer interviews my confidence in this game has risen considerably. Dash cancels, small reversal windows and instant recovery upon knock down will make this game more on the offense then I initially expected. Although it still looks like traditional zoning and spacing will play a important role, just not as important as in SF.
Didnt Darc already destroy all your points ric. He gave reasons on how MVC3 has more depth then sf4 and how HDR is more of a party game and you just kind of scuttered away. We should really give Darc more credit since he gives reasons you give nothing.
So, you lose.
Plus ya you complain about MVC3 but you think the MK series is fine. Cool story bro, am pretty sure you’ve just turned into a troll now.
Then again this could be just like SF4, you bitched non stop about it for a month. This just reminds me so much of SC2 beta, everyone complained the mechanics were made easyier, yet the top players from SC1 are still the best players. Go figure.
Just because the same players remain at the top doesn’t mean the game hasn’t been dumbed down or replaced with a simpler version that demands less of the players.
few cyclists could beat Lance Armstrong at a little girl’s tricycle race
few basketball players could beat Shaquile O’Neal at 1-on-1 slamball
few sprinters could beat Usain Bolt at a 50-meter run event
few guiltygear players could beat Kaqn at blazblue
just because you’ve dumbed the game down and made it simpler doesn’t mean you’ll see new winners, or that different criteria determine the winners
ofcourse the old sc players will win at sc2, they’ll still the best at what they do even if sc2 is a simpler version of it and demands less of them
I still don’t buy this “simpler” stuff… we are comparing games that are in some cases 10 years old and have a well researched and explored metagame to games that are brand new. Most of the time when people are referring to “simpler” its because we are only at the surface level of the new game. Two years down the road I don’t think you can really call SF4 simple anymore…
if any line of strategy terminates in a dead end, then that shows an increase in simplicity and therefore a reduction in depth
in bbct, aslong as you were buffering throw input into the startups of your attacks and barrier guarded every time you got a chance to, you could literally remove pressure strings and the danger of being thrown from the game
there was no counterstrategy, the option select was just too strong. in the end, top level play just ended up being about who could lame the other person out with the same imba OS better. if you were option selecting your throw into your startups better and your strategy didn’t revolve around rushing anybody down, then there was nowhere higher to go.
I could take any number of sermons from the Badgame Bible to depict this, it happens all the time
I can say with a straight face that bbct is a simple game. simpler than ggac, simpler than bbcs, and worse than both naturally
ahh I never got into BB because the one thing I thought was best about Guilty Gear (so many awesome chars!) is completely missing from CT and CS… didn’t know that things got that bad in the end although I do remember reading that it was pretty imbalanced. I just naturally assume people are always talking about the new Capcom games
who cares about capcom
badgames
everyone except for anime game fans?
oh, you mean capcom fanboys?
I guess
badplayers
oh shit im getting trolled
I don’t agree but couldn’t that be turned around saying, Only anime game fan boys say capcom is nothing but bad fighting games?
capcom fanboys play capcom games no matter how bad the games are
if there are a few things I don’t like about a game, I won’t play it regardless of who made it or what series it’s from
if Under Night/In Birth ends up as bad of an HD adaptation to meltyblood as blazblue was to guiltygear, I won’t play it
I’ll be heartbroken
I will play good games no matter who makes them, and even if every person on earth is playing a bad game because of it’s series’ or company’s popularity and public exposure, I will be there not playing it.
I already defended my points, because claiming HDR is more like a party game is just not even worth trying to discuss. You can’t mash fancy combo’s in HDR or flashy over the top supers, at best you will just spam a bunch of normals with a lot of random jumping and maybe the occasional special here and there.
Anyhow I wanna put the mvc3 talk on hold for a bit because I want to talk about the state of our scene. Its no secret that it went up in smoke quite sometime ago but Im not convinced that its a helpless situation. From what I know about how other communities developed its all a process that takes its sweet ass time. The outcome depends on the amount of effort and time the players put forth, and sure we might never become like other cities in terms of being a massive competitive community but I know for a fact that we are capable of far more then what we have been treated to thus far.
I tried my best with HTA but I unfortunately couldnt help the steep price point, and the U of S doesnt have the room for console gaming. If AE comes to PC that would instantly open the cove as our new venue and get the ball rolling on bringing in numbers, however untill that happens we are stuck with what we have. Therefore I strongly recommend that we meet up at the education building or some type of free public venue. We have people willing to meet up for games so now we just need somewhere to gather, and even if the numbers are small at first we can at least establish a strong core player base. Most importantly we can organize events with structure and a sense of purpose and maybe make it a environment that could help players improve and learn more about the game in a competitive capacity.
We already have this sask thread to keep in touch so if anyone wants to help feel free to join in, I’m down for rebooting the scene and starting over and getting it down right this time.
I hope nobody actually gets misled by you
Im not misleading anyone, just trying to get something started and reboot the small scene we have here because from what I hear we do have a lot of closet gamers who have no idea that there is a small community here. Regardless if nothing ever gets off the ground, we can at least do better then what have now which is literally nothing.
there are meets nearly every week in a venue that can support more players than exist in saskatoon
just because you are not a part of the community does not mean there is no community
stop trying to mislead people
That’s not a scene and I’ve already gone over in detail why its a terrible venue and why its not even close to being appropriate for the community, if anything its misleading to portray it as such. However if it’s in your or anyone else’s interest to still attend that so called community then go ahead. I wasn’t saying you cant go over to a friends house for games rather I was referring to myself and anyone else who is interested to help create a small brand new scene.
My goal is organizing a legitimate community with consistency and purpose that can expand the player base and level up the players we do have, so if anyone is interested just let me know.
We may now continue with the MVC3 talk:)
because your mommy said you shouldn’t keep going over to allison’s, now you are trying to start up something else in saskatoon
are you suggesting you aren’t biased?
are you suggesting you don’t have a questionable agenda?
are you suggesting that you are not disconnected from the saskatoon community due to your own faults?
If you are suggesting any one of these things, then you are intentionally misleading people.
If you aren’t, then you are only unintentionally misleading people. (in other words, you’re a retard)
Lil Ricky just wants a new group of friends to corrupt, and a new sf gal to hit on with his Fei Long.
Let him be.
Oh wow isnt that nice, my wall of text just got fucking deleted because the server was busy…anways im to lazy to type it all out again so ill make this short. That wasnt even close to the case because I dont thrive on codependency or run to other people to handle my problems. Maybe thats something she does but thats not my style, i stopped coming by my own merit because i didnt like the direction of the scene. As far as bias and agenda are concerned, i just want a legitimate community that can attract new players an improve the player base. I dont care who is involved, as long as they are just working towards progressing the community. Regardless if its a mentally unstable airhead or accomplished toury player, if they are contributing thats all i care about.
So it comes down to this, if you like her place and wanna go there for whatever then do it. If you wanna help build something new then do it but if not then dont, its your choice.
