Looks interesting so only time will tell if it turns out any good. Personally though I’m looking forward to the potential PC release of AE, it could very well be the best thing to ever happen to our scene. If AE gets released as a PC title then we can just simply use the PC set ups at the cove to run events. We would finally have a venue and have a real shot of getting something off the ground so hopefully we can see a release sometime in the future.
I don’t mind chain combo’s if the meta game plays like a traditional fighter. I just like my games to reward spacing, timing, zoning, execution and the concept of risk/reward. If skullgirls can operate as such then its a winner in my eyes.
When i say traditional I’m referring to games that emphasize fundamentals. Naturally older titles do a better job at this, but even moe recent games like KOF13 and hopefully MK9 are still in line with traditional fighters.
woops my bad, but yes any game that plays to traditional fighting qualities is a instant hit IMO. I just cant really see the appeal in these other games, just seems so chaotic and random.
fundamentals are still very much at work in modern fighters like MvC3 and probably skullgirls too
just cuz games happen faster and you can control more of the screen at one time doesn’t mean it has no fundamentals… and most of these games have much higher execution requirements than games like SSF4 and HDR.
also, big lol @ you saying you like games that place importance on execution when you can’t do Fei Long’s BnB
big lol @ you saying something about spacing when you spam rekka whether its safe or not
big lol @ timing when you either do something as a reversal or you don’t
big lol @ risk/reward when you just do whatever whenever
you still seem to think online play is important. if so, you gotta take the bad with the good… I’ve got an awesome replay I’d LOVE to post next time I get home
Haha…yeah that’s definitely the same guy I remember at the Jin forums back in the CT days. I still remember a post you made for the Tager match up where you said you always start the match with 5C.
once you’ve conditioned them to believe you, start lying to them
if you can land an ice->6a reset or a light dp->unblockable dp setup for a round ender right off the bat it stings them twice as much for having trusted in you
once you’ve conditioned them to not believe you, start telling the truth again, 5c is dangerous
Hey buddy before you can get on anyone’s case about there limitations as a player, you should probably be a good player to start off with first otherwise anything you say amounts to nothing. On that note you dont beat the guys that Ive defeated doing the things you just said. Sure they might work on you because lets face it your free, but if you honestly think that any of that flies agaisnt top players or even just the average good player…well clearly you need to learn how to play.
Secondly you’re a walking contradiction, your going to show a replay of me online as evidence against me even though you have repeatily ranted over how worthless online battles are and that they dont mean anything…like dude lol.
That new MK9 mode looks crazy fun, it wil probably be one of the few offline modes in a fighter I can see myself enjoying or putting any effort in. Speaking of MK9 I’m really having high hopes that it will turn out good, so far every video/interview I see from the game looks very promising. My only complaint thus far is the lack of the"run"feature because it really made MK stand apart from SF and presented a very intense offensive disposition in UMK3. Instead It looks like MK9 will be returning to the classic"spacing/zoning/footsie"dynamic we saw back in MK2 which I still love regardless.
It also appears the game wont be too high on wake ups, meaties or cross ups just judging by how quick the characters get up after knock down. I also wonder how poke strings and tick throws will work considering the lack of rapid fires, and I wonder if we can cancel specials from normals via SF style. For some reason I get the impression MK9 will be like a cross betwen tekken and SF…now that would be damn amazing.
Of course it won’t be high on crossups. You have a block button that properly guards attacks regardless of what direction you are facing. Also you can guard jumping attacks by blocking low in MK. Jump crossups sure are effective!
Yes MK2 sure had some great footsies spamming crouching lp, crouching lk or back lk whenever someone gets close.
I’m not convinced you’ve actually played MK2 or UMK3 much, probably just saw some vids. Add me on psn and if you love MK2 and ill make you hate that game too.
