Wow , i didn’t know cr. mp was that fast. So with bar you get free izuna drop? I knew cosmic heel spaced properly was a good mixup tool. I guess I don’t play many vega players. Impressed he competes with fei though. I need that vega practice!
What’s good Sask? Good to see activity back in here.
Talk about the better game though :3 What’s Tran and the rest of you guys up to these days?
Lol i know you aren’t talking bout dat marvel!
Marvel to me is like what I told Shane about Akuma in SSF4. When Akuma players do demonflip kick mixups even they the players themselves don’t know what side they are gonne be on, they just press jab after lol. That’s how I feel about Marvel, ppl don’t know what side they’ll hit on! Shit is random lol!
Tran is still soul searching teams in Marvel. Merlin, Dalton, and Levar are grinding that MK.
Yeah normanl vega can be tricky for sure. I need to do more frame traps and OS to make the fights more even and I gotta move in more intelligently on him. Its easy to overlook vega and think you can just bully him, but he’s got some great normals and keep away tactics. If you underestimate him like I do you’ll get smashed hard, you gotta be alert and respect his options. The thing fei has in his favor in this fight though is that he doesnt need EX to combo which vega does for the most part, so when vega doesnt have meter I can afford to be slightly more fearless lol.
Sup B hows it been, and yeah Im glad to see this thread active as well. I think its been in good spirits since the removal of certain personalities hehe(I kid I kid).
I wish you and shane were coming to CC, its a damn shames winnipegs best wont be able to rep this year again:(
Now let me get your guys opinion on something. Ive never really practived in fighters, like ive mainly just gone by whatever natural talent I had in the game and improved by fighting guys better then me. Do you think training/practice is important to reach the top or is natural raw talent be enough?
Im personally of the school of thought that says “feel your way through a match”, because if you dont have the natural instinct then the knowledge cant be applied right?
This is completly unrelated but ric i still gotta disagree with how you keep saying Guile vs Fei is in Guiles favor.
I have no idea why its been bugging me but just when i see that match up played its odd to think its big in guiles favor like you say, so for fun I just straight up tweeted Dieminion who we can say has one of the best guiles in amercia says its 6-4 in Fei’s favor.
Look am not trying to troll or get any big arguments going, am trying my best to not just, really bugs me how you keep saying Its so much in guiles favor.
Even when random stuff happens in Marvel, all you have to do is say YO MAHHHVEL and carry on with your life. That’s the way hype goes. Game can be dumb, even at high level but it’s mad fun and pretty awesome. Capcom just screwed up the top and bottom of the characters, everyone in between the top 2 and bottom 4 are schweet.
Good to hear that you cats are doing your thing still.
Doing good man. Less play, more work, but still find time here and there.
Yeah, sucks I can’t go to Canada Cup due to term project the Monday after again. Last year of school so I gotta get it. I wouldn’t have made a difference in AE anyway, don’t play it anymore and I’m pretty sure I’m not top 5 out here at that game now, haha. Been playing Marvel, really wanted to show people my Peter Parker T_T make some more believers out there, haha.
As for your last question, raw talent can only take you so far. Of course it’s important, but at some point, you have to put in time. Even when Cammy was fun+kinda cheap, I knew that I had to eventually lab stuff or else I would get stuck at a plateau. I also refused to learn option selects (which I think are dumb when the windows are as big as they are in IV; another reason IV ain’t my scene despite them being in other games, but I digress). I paid for not labbing them though, I would lose in stupid ways.
Then again, I prefer actually playing games instead of the game playing itself. If you want to win, learn them. If fun is the main thing, don’t.
I like to think I can read people. It’s not really cheating to do option selects, but it’s not fun to me. Still shoulda learned them though
I lab Marvel when I can though because I actually wanna be good at that game. So there’s your answer
Josh: The match was in favor for guile in SSF4. In AE because of the nerfs I could see it being 5-5 but 6-4 is impossible, and I dont know how he could think that so Ill have to ask him in detail at CC next weekend.
Mike: Yeah man I wasnt sure if I could make CC either, Ive had to miss out on like the last 2 AB tournies cause of work and school so CC will probably be my last tourny untill evo next year.
I have a similar issue with willing to put time in the lab for fei . Like on one hand I know the top players all apply these techniques but at the same time it just seems kind of pointless. I know Id be a better player if I took fei to the lab but I wouldnt even know what to do…like practice frame traps and new mix-ups I guess lol. Thats not really my style though cause im the type who just "feels my way"through my fights with whatever natural talent I have…I guess you can say I…

You can always get better by going to training mode, I would suggest it
You see Fuudo and Mago OS Ultra 1 ppl? That shit is crazy
All OS is, is you do 1 input, and 2 things happen depending on the situation. You do a c. short OS ultra 1 on their wakeup. If they block you time it so that a short comes out and during the blockstun of the short you input your ultra, so that nothing comes out. At this same time if the c. lk whiffs, the animation overall is much shorter because there is no blockstun during the move. When you input a c. lk and it is blocked, an ultra should come out during that small window.
You can always just jab OS Sweep when someone is in the corner too. and you can learn a good safe jump / mixup off of your sweep that you can use every time, and then your offense will be much more effective
Yeah I remember fuudo doing that OS ultra at evo and thought"damn, how did he do that?".
Im gonna goto training mode and test out my timing for OS. Ill start with the rekka OS and then that sweep one in the corrner that mago goes a lot. Im not sure at what distance mago usually is for the safe jump but it seems like maybe 2 character spots away from the corner so Ill test it out. Im gonna try to apply some of these OS in our next set…or try too lol. I should probably upgrade my internet connection soon though, I dont wanna mess up my OS timing since ill probably have enough problems with it as it is lol.
Hey does vega have a U2 OS as well or something wth his sweep or dash move?
So where are most of you guys from? Saskatoon im assuming?
Also what would you recommend to a complete newbie to SF4 to improve?
One last thing, are we still interested in setting up a section for fighters on saskgamers.com? The admins of that site seem more than happy to create a section for us.
Sounds like these guys want to give it a try. I forgot to send an e-mail back to the admins at saskgamers, been busy.
Yo I need yall’s help. I’ll be in Regina for a week (nov 14-19th) for work and will be at the Regina Inn hotel and conference center on broadway street. Any food/fun/shopping stops I NEED to hit up?
We got shitty shopping, and nothing really that fun. We do however, have the world’s best pizza, which is available at any pizza vendor in town.
If you wanna play games, you’re welcome to come to one of our gatherings if we have one during that time.
Italy is a close second?
I’ve actually been to Italy and had their pizza from numerous vendors. Regina we know pizza
Good luck at CC guys.
Shout outs To Johz for the amazing performance in teams. Teams is gettin pretty hype, Team japans crazy.
