Saskatchewan Thread 2011

you know it would sound much more respectful and humble if you just said “Hey guys i lost versus a really good guile from Toronto i feel am getting better”

I think people misinterpret me a lot and get this vibe that I only brag and put other players down. That’s not what I’m trying to do, and if you read the post I made a few weeks ago that ignited the provincial drama again you would see what I was really complaining against.

My basic point in my short little novel was that I felt frurstrated over my slow rate of progression, that I knew I could become a better player if i just had more resources. Some players I know have all the resources possible and have made it as far as they ever will in tournament play. I don’t think ive come close to my platue though, and going back from my HDR days I know the more i fight against top players the better I will become. Some guys can fight against as many top players as possible but still lose just as bad everytime, this isn’t the case with me I believe and my hdr days prove it.

It not about me thinking ive been touched by God at this game cause I’m aware of my limitations. However I know my current range of skill is too low for what I’m trully capable of, and when I lose to guys whom I know have maxed out and aren’t ever going to be top players I can get a bit salty cause I’m like"fuck how did I lose to this shitty player". It’s all in good fun though and nothing personal so i wish people would stop trying make it sound like I’m the worlds biggest asshole ya know.

How can these two sentences be literally right next to each other in the same post? :looney:

Ric, you can’t say something totally assholey and then say “I wish people would stop thinking I’m an asshole”. That’s not how it works.

when you suffer from extreme cognitive dissonance, the world is your oyster.

I wasn’t being a asshole, I fail to see how that statement was rude?

Ric,

Any of these so called players who you claim have made it as far as they ever will in tournaments, would probably be better than you if they lived in Japan for like a month.

Pretty much ANYONE can get good at the game given enough competition, time invested, and motivation. This whole inner potential stuff you’re flappin your gums about really only applies to people who are a TOP PLAYER, because they’ve demonstrated they are naturally better than their peers who have a similar level of competition and time invested.

You’re talking a little bit too much shit to some of the AB players just because they have a local scene, but obviously don’t take the game seriously enough to be motivated to invest that kind of time. You probably got SF4 on ya brain more than any of these guys.

I CANT BEAT YOU BUT MY POTENTIAL IS BETTER THAN YOUR POTENTIAL.

fuck the game talk, fist fight after CC outside, I’ve never even met you and I hate you

Well I’m not talking about the ab guys in particular, and your right everyone has the potential to be a top player but in most cases only a few do. However when you have a guy like me with no real platform to improve achieving similar results as guys who do have a platform to inprove it’s easy to tell who has maxed out and who can still journey further. I’ll never know how good I can get untill I get the same opportunity to improve, but as it stands it’s a safe assumption based off the evidence to suggest I’m not even scratching the surface of how good I can become compared to other guys who are already at their limit. I think this probably a true enough point for lots of guys with a underdeveloped community.

I wasn’t even saying you were being an asshole i was just simply trying to say. That when you lose just say you lose, you needed to add all these buts, really talking yourself up and i doubt you ment it but talking down to the other guy.

I can’t think of a single player that has maxed their potential that I’ve personally met or played against. We all do the best we can, given the scene we have and the situation we find ourselves in. If we all moved to Japan tomorrow, we’d all be better a month from now… that includes you, me, Jamie, the Montreal guys, Justin Wong, and whoever else. You don’t have to be a top player to improve by playing top talent. Saying “I have so much potential that would be unlocked if only I could play the best players daily for 3 months” applies to a ton of people… it’s kind of a vacuous truth that doesn’t need stating.

Josh: Nah man Im not taking away from rebello the guy is amazing at the game and hes a really cool guy too. He would beat me up pretty good in a offline/tournament situation anyways but its nice to know I can at least compete agaisnt some as good as him. I dont take victories away from people, unless they become rude about it or if something prevented me from playing at my best.

Infil: I get what your saying but I think its just a matter of opinion over who has maxed out and who hasnt yet. I think if you have a community it gives you a batter chance of testing your limits as opposed to someone who doesnt have that same benefit. My basic point is that it isnt as easy to gauge someone who hasnt had the oppurtunity to push themselvs yet vs someone who had that oppurtunity already.

Damn lost to jamie 10-1 so ill have to get a salty set back at CC. Gonna need more sets with top guys online to be ready by next weekend, ill probbaly get shaw warp again…I cant stand my ghetto connection especially when I fight rebello and wollfkrone.

Edit: Also has anyone in canada and in paritcular western canada ever had a clean connection with latif?

I dont know why but even when I had a good connection it was still super laggy for some reason. Out of all the guys to have laggy games with it just had be him of all people!

We playin games tonight in Regina?!

I’ve played Latif in a decent connection, Its on youtube, Jozhear vs Latif

he creams me but this was well over a year ago iirc

We playing tonight 7pm Merlins place!

Damn 10-1, does vega have some anti fei tech or is it a straight up match?

I’ll check it out, I swear a good viper is scary online with all the instant overheads and mixups. I never know which way to block and he always managed to get his ultra on me at least once a round ha.

Is Vega’s dash kick move safe on block cause I think when we played in person I could get a crouching jab if I blocked it, maybe it’s safe cause I can’t even seem to throw it on block.

Edit: nah Jamie lag abuses me!

lol I can’t chicken win spam vega cause his crouching normals cause a whiff. The match isn’t actually in Vega’s I think, vega just has some good pokes that can keep fei at bay so i gotta play it like i would agaisnt honda or even guile. Plus Jamie great with vega, I gotta step up my game. Back to dbz level training for me!

vega is one of fei’s worst matchups, but it’s still probably 5-5

vega can punish every single rekka everywhere, no matter what, with c. mp

And cosmic heel, my dash kick move is -4 if i space it poorly. Spaced well it’s 0. I figured you were just blocking everything anyway so I went with c. mk for more frame advantage and kara throw mixups.

Ah I see, makes sense now I get why I wasn’t able to punish. I still don’t do anything about those backdashes, they are gawd like…they literally dodged a whole rekka combo!

Don’t worry Sask I’ll avenge my brutality, soon as I get back home:D

Yeah Vega’s backdash is awesome but just remember that everytime I backdash I concede that tiny bit of space. I avoid your mixup (hopefully) but you still have me with my back to the corner. Once Vega is cornered the momentum swings hugely in Fei’s favor.

Try OSing Rekkas into your jab pressure. That pretty much guarantees I can’t get away.

EDIT: In fact I just checked frame data, even if I KKK Flip to avoid your Jab OS Rekka( which vega can do) I’m pretty sure you can just cancel the second rekka on whiff and punish my recovery. Either way you recover 3 frames after I do so I COULD get a throw in if the spacing is just perfect, but that’s doubtful, and either way chances are you’ll be abl eto continue pressuring me.

that’s how vega works. his wakeup game is non-existant and he can run away for a while but as long as you continually apply pressure it’s hard to get a clean escape / GTFO me move to relieve the stress.

Yeah that’s the bane of Vega’s existence, a solid pressure game with good-mix. To be honest I don’t know how to OS, like I kind of get the concept but I don’t know the execution behind it. I know a primary fault I have in this match is I let vega off easy when he gets cornered. On one hand I’m thinking"ok he’s cornered I can just rushdown"then I eat something like u2 or backflip dp lol.

I’ll have to be more precise with my spacing and aware of Vega"s option, gotta adapt to his ranges and what he can or cannot do in certain situations. Next time I’ll try playing a bit more aggressive and be more point with footsies and such. The match is basically 5-5 so I got no excuse using a top tier ha. Oh and that dash move thing as a meaty that hits me on the opposite end is tricky, I gotta try maybe dp reaction to stop it…though I don’t know how practical that is.

Edit: out of all of fei’s chicken wings his medium version is very good vs vega in the corner. I just remembered it’s safe on block and doesn’t whiff, you know how annoying it is when those whiff on vega…it’s like “shit this isn’t going good” haha.
