Sanwa Silent mod with TE sides Cushions

Neoprene.

You’re the man marcelo!! Thanks a bunch!!

Haha I was thinking of doing this the other day, and now I see people doing it here on this very forum. Well played. It’s just some foam, no big deal.

Great idea guys!
Where can I buy these materials that Bad_Boy_Brazil and NurseJoySTIK are using?
I don’t have these foams from the MadCatz sticks or anything like that.
I tried experimenting with some foam sheet/paper that I have left over from another different project I was working on. But was just too thick when I press the button.
Also, did you guys figured out which material was the best to use?

This thread is sex guys! all great input and i love this as an alternative to Marcelos project since it was canceled.I think the cushion material feels better than the silent buttons sanwa put out…they feel muggy and mushy.Only words that could describe it.

I was curious if there was a thread about this. I have a different dampen mod which I’ll probably end up posting it here so it’s a one stop shop!

Don’t talk about it! be about it!

I was thinking just finding a factory that sells the same kind of foam they put with madcatz sticks.

I thought it was really funny that I just made our first set of 100 of these to sell and I saw this thread  We tested a few materials, the one we settled on is a few thousandths thinner than the Sanwa material and reduces the mushy end feel while keeping the buttons just as quiet. The nice thing about the foam we sorced is that it is made to withstand this kind of abuse. I’m not saying it will last forever, but this foam is designed to be abused.
Reviews should be posted soon.
We are also looking for interest in 24 mm silent buttons.
For now the cost is 0.40 each 1-7, .35 each 8 and up, .30 each with our buttons. So for 2.80 you can take care of 8 buttons…

sorry if this is a rookie question but from what you’re saying a similar material is in the silent sanwa buttons? unless i’m misunderstanding this then i feel i should have second guessed myself before buying that & the joystick.

I’m not sure what “that & the joystick” are, but if you bought a new silent stick and new silent buttons, then the answer is yes, you can buy a Silent Kit for your JLF from us, and button inserts for your existing Sanwa buttons. This should save you about $60 in upgrading your stick to a silent stick.

Just a heads up to anyone wanting to make these themselves, the material inside the official Sanwa silent buttons is a spongy neoprene material, like what was stated above by Marcelo. Any hardware store should sell neoprene washers, which can, with a little modifying, can be put into any button to make it “silent.” I just did this with my Seimitsu PS-14KN buttons today. Make sure to get the thinnest you can, I went with the 1/16".

Also, shoutouts to ParadieArcadeShop for selling the silent JLF cherry microswitches all wired up. I just ordered a set this week. Looking forward to getting it in the mail!

We have one more slot for free silent washers in our thread… Thanks for the shout out!

Awesome Thread. worked perfectly. played around with thickness to get the best possible results. ty
