Sanwa Silencers

I actually had it for a while and I just found it while looking for something to use, I’m pretty sure I bought it at a hobby/arts and crafts store.

I was supposed to be one of the testers and never got mine…and I’ve Pm’d Marcelo a few times…but that was a while ago…

If it’s been this long, why not try and make your own? It will cost you a buck or two and some scissor skillz.

I more than likely will…just wondered why he never responded to my pm’s

A good piece of equipment to get for cutting through foam/fabric material would be a circular cutting compass… A diameter up to 30mm is more than doable with these devices… Yes, they cost around $8-$10 but you won’t get cuts as get as these by doing the “trial by scissor” method.

A lot of us already use circular cutting compasses to cut out artwork to put on top of the plungers of transparent buttons. (Beware that you may have to make multiple measurement and take into account the thickness of plastic walls when you decide how to cut artwork.)

You will have to measure the inside of your button to see how wide the foam “silencer” cutout has to be. Should be a matter of just measuring the inside of the walls of the plunger’s “retaining ring.” Should be easier to figure out than the measurements for artwork.

Besides, you’ll only have to do this for 30mm buttons unless you’re planning to upgrade some old joystick (Capcom CPS Fighter) with 24mm button parts for the main action buttons. How many times does anybody press START or SELECT during a game for noise to be a problem???

Well there are hitboxes that uses 24mm buttons.

I tried modding some buttons to see if I can here a difference with the silencers. I had some madcatz buttons from my brawstick that I tried it on. I’m sure modifying a sanwa button will be the same. I bought a pack of 20 foam sheets for a buck from Dollar Tree. The size that you need to cut the foam is the same size as a quarter. What I did was just trace it and cut it out with some scissors. Once it was cut out, I made another small cut in the center of the foam to have it fit inside the button. I don’t have a decible reader, but hopefully you can hear the difference. I’ll try to get some pictures fo the foam I cut and upload the pictures later on. Meanwhile, heres a video. Hopefully you can hear a difference.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the project has been cancelled. Sorry guys, no worries there are others who are taking and running with the idea. Sorry for the blue balls. thanks for the support. Lock this horseshit…

@Gorilla White, that material isn’t good for LED usage and durability is ok at best. meh for a short term solution. one of the 1st routes I tried…

I agree with you, I tried playing with it for a while and couldn’t get used to it. Opened up my buttons and removed the foam. The foam was bending and I didn’t get that same bounce back of the button with it on. Was hoping to be able to try out your silencers, but no biggie. Take care of your shit first, thats whats most important.

Anyone consider using soft rubber gaskets for faucets and stuff from a hardware store? Should be a cheap solution with a material that would last a good bit of time.

I was looking for rubber washers at HomeDepot, but didn’t find anything that was useable.

Nooo! i need these! what material did you use? the sanwa silent buttons feel terrible and yours from what ive seen on youtube are quieter…thats not a word, but still.

Incredibly funny the night I get these things going, everyone is yelling about these… They will be in the store within 1-2 weeks. Please check our store thread.
