this is a noob question, but I was wondering if the seimistu ls-56 will work with a mad catz TE stick.
i ve tried em both and JLF is million years ahead imo…
The seimitsu is the real king of Japanese stick parts. I played with sanwa jlf and obsf for about a yr. Since converting to ls-32-01 and ps-14-kn I would never go back. I play charge characters so 4 me I could do my bnb’s better my dashes came out more consistently. I even went to a tournament and everyone said they loved the feel of the stick and buttons.
jlf ftw
What’s the difference between an LS-32 & LS-32-01
LS-32-01 has pcb mounted buttons with a 5pin wiring harness while the LS-32 has ground and signal tabs for each switch.
Anyway, from my experience I prefer LS-32 for every game except SF4. I find FADC>ultra easier on the JLF for some reason, so for this poll I vote LS-32 since it doesn’t specify any particular game.
I can’t disagree more.
Semitsus are probably fine for custom sticks with relatively low usage, but in arcade situations, they’re prone to constant breakdowns. The lower build quality makes them really rapidly pass the “broken in” feel; they feel just plain broken.
The SF4 cabs locally that use Semitsu’s have constant problems. The JLFs are still going strong.
I know some people really like them for whatever reason, but to me, they just feel like a second rate stick.
That being said, what the hell is up with the 6 month bump?
I forgot about this thread. Now I can post an answer after having installed my parts on multiple sticks. I definitely prefer the LS-32. Maybe because those were the first parts to arrive from my orders, but I enjoy the feel of the stiff spring and smaller deadzone.
It doesn’t matter in my experience playing SFIV, but I definitely notice a difference when playing older games like ST and A2. I can’t get moves out well at all with the LS-32-01 as compared to the JLF.
I used to like JLFs. Then I started liking LS-32 more. And now I like JLF again since I’ve been playing more at the arcade. Soo… I dunno? Lol.
Slight nod to JLF since I think overall they’re slightly better suited for fighters.
I tried them both, but I much prefer the LS-32. I have 2 LS-33 waiting to be mounted in custom sticks and they seem even better (no “jumping” when riding the gate).
As a placemarker for this point in time: after juuust a few over 200 votes, we have a 51% JLF and 49% LS-32 split. With a relatively large sample group, these are very even results. This makes me smile because I like to think the poll has only reinforced our long-stated and already-unsurprising fact that it’s completely and absolutely and only a matter of personal preference, and nothing but.
Well yes, personal preference but it seems each stick has upsides and downsides that everyone pretty much agrees on, so overall preference depends on what people are looking for.
I’ve built one stick with a JLF, and am about to build a second for Mrs. ED209. But I’m really deliberating whether or not to try an LS-32; I like the sound of its slightly shorter engage and throw distances but not the idea of its jumping the gate, lower build quality/durability and fiddly C-ring. I like the idea of us having two identical sticks but I also like the idea of trying an LS-32.
What will swing it for me most likely is that an LS-32 costs almost the same as a JLF in the UK whereas it seems it’s significantly cheaper everywhere, and matching seimitsu buttons come with a lead time, so since this poll ended almost in deadlock I’ll probably go with another JLF.
Woah woah woah, Seimitsu’s LS-32 has a lower build quality? Sir you must be mistaken! The LS-32 has just as great if not better build quality than a Sanwa JLF. The grade of plastic is almost identical and the LS-32 has a metal plate in the assembly to make sure that the game stays stable and won’t move around in the future.
As for the gate jumping issue, I actually made a fix for that (credits to AkihabaraShop for awakening me to the possibility of this mod) here which also lets the LS-32 use shaft covers. So the pivot jumping shouldn’t be an issue either.
There’s only one undeniable argument which I can say that JLF users can make against LS-32 users (in my opinion) and that is that the LS-32 is a chore to install and remove compared to the JLF. But, I personally think that you’ll like the LS-32 to keep it in there.
LS-56 should have been added to this poll from the beginning.
To me, LS-32 vs JLF; they are so close in feel and execution that it really boils down to personal preference.
LS-56, on the other hand, is the stick of sticks (Obviously just my opinion).
Build quality wise between Seimitsu and Sanwa, there is no difference. Both are made well but neither is made for high-on-sugar-15y/o-arcade-abusers. iL sticks are good for those
i used an ls32 for about a year before i started using jlf regularly. JLF is the superior stick. its just faster and lighter, i feel slower on my old stick.
Depends on the game. For shmups I prefer the LS-32-01, and for fighters I prefer the JLF (with an octo gate). I prefer shmups over fighters, so the Seimitsu stick gets my vote
I voted for the Seimitsu LS-32-01, however my preference is very very slight. I’ll also note that I like the LS-56-01 than either of the joysticks polled.
I dont understand why ppl feel seimitsu sticks/buttons are made cheap. I feel like the sanwa feels cheap but ITS ALL PREFERENCE. I use charge charcter so 4 me shorter throw and bit stiff is good. i like the metal levers that help confirm the cherry switches.
LS-32 with a circle gate. It’s my favourite stick.
