Santa Cruz

Pink Umbrella Man is actually exceedingly rich and, yes, he’s probably one of the chillest guys you’ll ever meet. Doesn’t talk too loud - calm and sincere. But pretty creepy to watch from afar.

As for critters, I almost rammed into a deer at night. I was running down lower quad, in Crown, and the deer crossed my path and I was two feet away from it. The deer, whilst somewhat startled, just gave me the ‘wtf’ look. Also, there was a rabbit nest hidden right inside the gutter. Cutest little things I saw.

Also, you’ll find some obese squirrels near the dining hall. I, literally, mean obese. They’re so fat that they can’t climb trees nor run away. You could chase them all day long and they could only wobble.

Parking officers won’t show you mercy - so get a parking permit ASAP. There’s no cops, but there are late night CSO units (Community Safety Officers) that go from dorm to dorm to report any suspicious activity. Most of them aren’t lenient when it comes to rule-breaking, but yeah.

As for arcades…no hype. :frowning: You could go to the boardwalk for CvS2, MvC2, and ST, but there’s nothing people are really into.

I’m not sure about the 2 year enrollment, but email the registrar about your questions regarding transfer (registrar@ucsc.edu). If it’s within the UC system, then almost all of your GE classes should be transferable. If it’s within a different school, then you have to look at their transferable GEs. Other than that, glad you made the choice to go to UCSC. If I ever visit next year, I’ll be sure to send you a PM.

AND…I HIGHLY recommend you take the CMPS 80K class - Foundations of Interactive Game Design. It’s the one class I, truly, regret not taking! It’s during the winter quarter.

Whoa, someone from Marin! What games do you play and how often are you in Marin?

And if anyone cares, I think I’m going to try to visit UCSC sometime in middle to late May.

HAH  i have yet to see these obese squirrels, i’ll make sure to keep an eye out for those guys when i go today…maybe get a game of squirrel tag with them :).

I’m primarily a Guilty Gear player, but I’m open to all FGs. I’m in Marin M-F - particularly in San Anselmo (every Thursday, I go to classes in Berkeley). Weekends, I commute to my hometown in Cupertino.

dude, you’re making me wish i stayed in ucsc now… jackass

I was checking out the recreational stuffs at UCSC a bit, and I was surprised you guys had a fencing club!

I’m really interested in joining that, y’know- as something to keep myself from getting fat. Anyone know about it?

lol- You’re attending the school that was my first choice. If anything, I should be pissed : P.

and your school has an actual fencing ‘team’ in NCAA.

sup esays and vatos!

Heard some rumor that he used to work for NASA

I agree that he is probably one of the chillest guys you’ll ever see.

anyone gotta’ a pick of this guy?

lol. He looks insane!!! (in a good way, kinda…)

Downtown santa cruz is definitely unique.

it’s not just squirrels, there are fat birds too. They would normally be really easy prey, but fortunately for them humans aren’t normally interested in feeding on un-cooked birds when they can easily find food in the local dining hall.
[british] and here we see two freshmen males stumbling their way at noon to the dining hall. It is well known most freshmen sleep un-naturally late. Oh here is something interesting. The males spot a few overweight squirrels, they seem to hesitate… No wait, it seems they are going to let them be and take the easier meal.
Ah a rare sight indeed we can now see what is known as the dining hall ritual … /british

yes Fencing, Kenpo club, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, and other forms of martial arts

dang glad to see we finally got a santa cruz thread brewin in here once again.

ah yes… neiman will ruin your shit in 3S AND marvel. He is THE reason to go to UCSC, if what you seek is Street Fighter Competition.

Can’t wait to get down there : ). Already filed my statement of intent : O

hey guys, i just went to the Board Walk today and they had a MvC2 machine and Tekken 5.
Still no 3s tho

The MVC2 machine at the Boardwalk has the damage scaling too high.

I talked to someone who worked there last time I was there and he said management wants to keep it that way :frowning:

i’m just curious, but how did the PVGT go? did they finally allow peops to bring in sticks? >_>

actually the only event that took off was brawl
