Santa Cruz

Anybody interested in playing some tekken/mvc2 sometime today or even this weekend? I’m pretty bored and I don’t feel like doing hw until sunday, so hit me up if you’re interested and we can get something going.

I go to the BW all the time. I freaken love that place. It’s not for tournament training but it is one of the last of a disappearing breed of arcade. Its got classic cabs(Arkanoid, damn), pinball, skee, foos and just a bunch of things you don’t see anymore, unlike these dnbs that only have japanese job simulators and racing games. I work 1 block away and usually check out the BW around 3 or 4pm. I’ll play any fighting game but prefer tekken, sf2variants, and cvs2, I never really played mvc2 but I’m down to superjump around shooting lasers, bombs, twizzlers, the game seems fun, I just don’t know the basics yet. Shit I’ll even play samshow 6.
Sometimes a few people will gather on friday nights mostly for cvs2(the 2 player side is broke in a new and strange way, the stick and buttons feel fine but inputs lag) these are best enjoyed with 3 to 5 cans of beer.

Yo MCP, laptop arrived, comcast as well, Drunken rants to follow.

UCSC students, there is more to life than academic grinding, SC is a unique place in good and bad ways, consider experiencing the larger community(off the hill) as part of your GE.

I can play tekken tonight, at the BW, my house(TAG only, no dr) or maybe Andrews if you know him and if he wants to battle. I can’t go up to the campus, beer=no driving. I don’t work tonight so I’ll skate to the BW regardless.

It’s a little late for me to start playing now. I’m about to go to a party in two hours and get sloshed. I’ll be settling into my new house downtown by the end of next week, so pm me some of your info and maybe we can set something up.

I’m down for tag. I will make you fear my wang.

who’s gonna be around santa cruz in the summer? i plan on doing some random visits - so i’d like to see some FG hype. :3

I’ll be here all summer. I play pretty much anything, but I suck at most. Except tekken, I’m comfortable calling my tekken skills mediocre

I’ll be moving there around mid-August : )

Hopefully I’ll have a decent roommate(s)

what college are you affiliated in?

Have you checked out SFSU or the Sonoma country communities? As far as I can tell, GG isn’t that big in the Marin area. SFSU lost their GG:AC cab, and Scandia in Sonoma only has the version before AC.

Currently my top choice is Porter college, as to what I actually got- no clue.

Hopefully I’ll get feedback from UCSC soon.

quick question for the santa cruz locals…is there any good bars around there? my bro is throwing a bonfire over in sea bright… i think its a beach next to the boardwalk ,but not sure though…anyways he wanted to go to a bar afterwards…any suggestions??

bars

there’s the yaht club, seabright brewery, and that other bar that keeps changing its name. I wouldn’t call any of these bars good. The people at the yaht club will vibe nonlocals, I’d go to the brewery, or go downtown. The brews on the corner of seabright and eaton, a couple of blocks up from seabright beach

yes i have. since i also commute to south bay during weekends, i usually get my gg action there…if i can make it to one of the gatherings. :frowning:

As far as SFSU goes, i know a few peops around the area who are active in the gg community. :] but it’s too bad people in marin aren’t into gg.

good luck in porter. it’ll get hot in some of the dorms.
and the porter run starts at porter. so close your door if you don’t want to see people screaming down the hall naked XD.

lol, I really don’t mind that. That certain tradition seems like something really fun. And, hey, if I make enough friends that are down to do it- maybe I won’t pussy out on it, either : ).

Are there any other interesting traditions I should know about?

I wouldn’t say a tradition, but be prepared for lots of student protests + PVGT + Casino Nights + Halo tournies :[ + 4/20 + Boardwalk frolic. Basically, just read the bulletins at the bus stops. Stuff happens every week. So just keep your eyes peeled.

if you’re unlucky, then you’ll be victim to the santa cruz metro bus strike.
if you’re lucky, then it’ll snow.

err…I’m planning to get a bike. I’m fairly used to just walking/biking everywhere by now. I haven’t even gotten my license yet, lol. Clean air, and exercise.

If anyone is down to play MvsC2 down at the boardwalk plz hit me up. I now live a few blocks away!

i’m going to need some mvc2 and cvs2 comp while i’m down there for the summer… you know how are the sticks there?

Anyone play MvC2 on console there?

me. down to play sometime?
