Samurai Spirits aka Samurai Shodown - 2019

I’m kind of getting annoyed by all these people getting review copy. before everyone’s else.
it like snk is opera for streamers: you get a review copy and you get a review copy and you get a review copy, every streamers get a review copy!

Which Capcom FG did he lead? If SF4 is in his resume then NRS can have him and never release him.

SF5.

SF4 was a Taisaku Okada whom also did SFxT.

Wonder what else he’s worked on? Doesn’t seem like he did a lot of FG related stuff outside of SF4 and SFxT.

from d3v’s post with the twitter link there’s a dude who wrote more about him

There’s evolution, and then there’s making the game not play like SamSho.

SamSho as a series tends to be a very defense oriented, reaction focused one. Most games, even SF, base their “footsies” around doing something to make your opponent react, and then punishing the reaction. SamSho on the other hand, doesn’t really do that. It’s system is based more around learning, and reacting to your opponents actions. Even recoil cancel mindgames are based on knowing what your opponent prefers to do (because a wrong recoil cancel still gets duffed heavily).

More on this here:

But basically, SF footsies is “I’ll do X to make my opponent do Y, so I can punish them with Z.” SamSho neutral is more “My opponent can do X or Y, but prefers to do Y first, so I’ll do Z.”

My preorder arrived this morning! Wasn’t expecting it as early but really enjoying the game. Playing my first proper story mode and I’m currently facing off against Shizuka - who I’m not able to beat yet. Coming close, but I assume she’s the finally bad guy?

I so want to play this, but I only play games on PC, so nothing till september for me.

Oh well, bought V special on steam. It’s a decent port with great netcode. Been winning with Suija yesterday against relatively bad players. I suspect no players will be left after a week

Olaf and Corey’s early tier impressions/predictions.

Kyoshiro is that bad!?

Tell me why he thinks ukyo is good in this game?

No linked down kick into overhead no comboable wtf everything seems pretty average at best

And hanzo is not that low in my opinion, the difference between him and a Charlotte is that the match ups are not at set it stone because of his wide tool set, Charlotte is good yes but she has some real bad match ups that jumping b standing a standing b will not win you, and Yoshi mid? He’s like one of the best characters in the game easily

But kyoshiro? What were they thinking

It is to early of course we are just all speculating

However I do have tournament expirence and I tried him for 30 minutes and I did not have the balls to pick him and I am good with him

Like I said before down b is like what18 frames? Maybe even more lol

The frog was never even a great move it was a good move never great and the move is now complete trash can’t be comboed into even from a throw, the start up is bad the recovery is bad

If he had these two tools back how they should be he would easily be mid I think maybe higher

Yoshitora apparently suffers a lot from not having 5SP’s movement.

Hanzo’s teleports are real slow.

Of course, if you disagree, you can always bring it up with them on Twitter.

Take this with a grain of salt as I have minimal Samsho experience, but Yoshi’s one of the characters that’s struck me as seeming really good. Can’t say the same about Ukyo, who seems good but not amazing.

Glad to see my big bro Tam Tam up there as I may end up maining him.

Speaking of which, I’m currently considering Genjuro, Charlotte and Yoshitora as mains. All seem really strong at screen control in general. The fact that all have a solid AA DP also seems like a huge deal in this game.

I’m leaning towards Yoshitora now though. I love toolbox-characters, though Genjuro and Charlotte seem more accessible.

I’m definitely of that opinion. He’s lost a bit of Oki (is that the word?) because he doesn’t have the roll to be able to punish with hit grab anymore, and his grab range was really great but now he can’t hop to take advantage of it. I still think he’s good but this game took out a few of the options i used to open people up with him in 5sp so I’m trying to get used to a new game plan.

@lolesports what’s your take on why Yoshi is one of the best in the game?

Jumping with Kyoshiro is a bit of a suicide mission imo. Yeah he has a floatier jump but the game is a bit slower so it compensates.

And feels like they finally balanced Ukyo out a bit.
