Yeah I noticed they’re only doing pre-orders outside the US. I hope we get the same type of Collectors Edition.

That’s the same thing I’ve been wondering. Haven’t seen this up for preorder at any major outlets in the USA. We only have a month and some change left and I’ve been ready to give them my money for a while.

I can give you a very basic break down

standing normals all pretty much suck, middle and heavy slashes extend you sometimes catch people with the middle and ducking middle slash but they all have shit recovery so you cant alpha 3 sim that shit, his standing K looks like and anti air but it’s shitty
His weak slash is a punch which means it cannot be deflected which is a big plus and it’s fast, but it is only a weak button so you use it more for annoying people rather than dominating

His dashing normals were from i can remember were pretty good, his kick was a low which i think is quite hard to punish if it can be at all, but it has horrible range, weak was a shoulder barge which is very good when used with puffball, even on its own i always found it ok
middle was an overhead , heavy had good range but punishable

In the air basara is better, his neutral jump heavy was a good anti air as was his jumping weak, middle and kick i never used that often myself

his specials are a bit of a mix bag

Qcf+S is pretty trash normally, yah you can hard read people jumping and do it, if you guess wrong your dead, yeah it can be used to meaty people even cross up, but again get it wrong and your dead
But this move done in the air is different, normally it’s done just jumping and doing it each button going in a different Arc
But the real shit was doing it with heavy off of a back dash, you then get the horizontal range you wanted that aint given with a normal qcf+s, the backdashed projectile is very hard to punish to someetimes you can’t even punish it, this move hits very hard to and knocks down, and it’s also an overhead to

Dp+slash
Trrash move only used to hard read peoples projectiles from full screen, but if you do ever land it it does solid damage

Qcb+k
Again trash only used to run when winning on a time out last second, get it wrong and you’re dead
Much like dp+slash only situational obscure use

Rdp+any button except D
the clone this move can be good in small doses, basara creates a clone which does different things depending what button you push ie jump back jump forward walk forward, can be very confusing to deal with when used sparingly, but if you over use it you’ll tend to get killed

puffball, this is basaras best move you want this on screen all the time, you get a knock down? do it, you playing gedo or gaira and those bitches are the other side of the screen? do it!
you got somebody turtling hard and they wont run in with somebody thats lightening fast like galford hanzo, DO IT!
This move is a sort of homing projectile that follows a sort of arc across the sky, homing in on your foe
The basic basara gameplan is get a knockdown throw out a puffball then follow up and do shit.
It’s to be noted because of the multi direction oki system this puffball after a knockdown set ups can often fail because most will roll towards you

so you gotta be on them with overheads throws so you condition them to start rolling back to eat the puffball set ups, if you’re too close also the puffball wont be able to home in and go before it reaches them, you ideally wanna be half or full screen away when executing the puffball set ups

The puffball when out with keep them grounded if they get hit in the air you giant pounce them for extra damage, if they get overly aggressive you can dash back and projectile, when this thing is out you should be controlling the game, it takes a alot of practice to get your set ups down, knowing what can be done whats safe ect ect but it’s massive part of basaras game

DP+k
command grab, not as good as a gedo oor a gaira but it does good damage always go for this over a normal throw because of the difference in damage especially when raged

Wft aka super

his wtf is pretty decent the start up can blow through stuff like hoahmarus standing heavy slash ect, but it’s a gamble like all revesal supers are, if it’s blocked your dead it does higher than average damage though
One stupid thing you can do is make super safe with puffball, so throw puffball out full screen and wtf if they try to punish they get hit with the puffball

All in all basara for me is kind of a jeykll and hyde sort of chracter, in the neutral he’s kinda tricky with clones and dash back protectile dashing in dashing back, when he gets a knock down or when he gets the chance to puffball it changes, he’s able to add a degree of control to the match for a second and condition his foe.
He’s hard to use for somebody that has hardly any combos, but he’s a lot of fun, has low health you’ll lose a lot at the start but stick with him he’s one of the most enjoyabe chracters to use and watch

I noticed a mistake in what i said about basara with regards puffball

I ment to say that’s not lightening fast like hanzo galford ukyo nako rera or has a long ranged normal like an amakusa or even zankuro or gaoh

The reason is it’s because of the long start up of puffball, it’s still pretty quick but if they know you’re gonna do it or are really looking for it they can punish, most good players will know that’s what you’re gonna be looking for ,which is why you have to chose your puffball moments rather than spam it, it’s to slow to spam to risky, but when you do get it out there it’s a very powerful tool

like i said it goes in sort of like a rainbow arc, and can come back if they are far enough or you push them back but dont to it to close or it just goes over there heads and dont come far back enough

I also forgot another move basara has and that’s his down kick in the air the headstomp

think like chun li’s you can control where you fall after also land with hitting normals or specialsto if they get careless, you gotta be careful to because if they make the right read they’ll catch you, much like basaras clones, use in small doses

Any i just wanted to add those little bits, basara in 5sp is much better than he used to be in 3 and 4, maybe because there’s not the craziness in games like 3 and 4 in 5sp

Poongko showing great knowledge of SamSho mechanics. He he cancelled the recoil off his blocked heavy slash into a Deflect to parry the punish attempt, letting him punish it with an SSM.

The ghost data thing sounds cool. Obviously it can’t make big brain on the fly adjustments and reads which is kind of the clincher in most fighting games, but it sounds like a lot of fun to play around with. Be interesting to see exactly how close they nail it.
