Samurai Shodown is now available in the PS store, I just pre-ordered my copy.
If the game doesn’t show on the pre-order page, click the “see all” tab to show all games for pre-order (this is where i found the game).

I liked Metal Slug and Darkstalkers’s console versions ‘white blood’ effect.

I’m looking forward to this too, especially in that I hope I’ll be able to play against my own ghost data to improve. Either way, I don’t know how much time I’ll get with the game for a bit because it comes out right around some life changes I have going on and the ghost thing will be helpful.

This is one of the things I want to do as well. My play style is the exact one that I lose to in SamSho (partly because Charlotte hates having to open up turtles).

So from watching a bunch of footage Nakoruru looks really weak to me. She seems to lack range and damage and I’m not really seeing anything notable from her. I guess she’s supposed to be fast and have mixups? I heard she was low tier in Vsp as well.
I realize the game isn’t even out yet but I’m not seeing anything strong from her whereas the other characters seem decent in one way or another.
So basically, Nakoruru being Nakoruru.
Only game I recall her being top was 4 where she had some dumb infinites (one was basically bird, walk, slash, repeat), in a more combo centric game. Not sure about 3 though (where there was even more dumb shit in general).

She was a fucking bitch in Samurai Shodown III, which is probably the only game in the series I hate. It is the biggest reason I despise Nakoruru and Galford.
It wasn’t just her her infinites in 4, she also had good solid damage and various ways to land it, you didn’t have to commit like you do with post 4 nakoruru
She was one of the few chracters that has a running plus weak slash that could combo into itself.
While on the surface that might not sound like that big a deal it ment for one she never had to commit to her ground slide move without knowing it was actually going to hit, making her a very safe charcter
Things like running A or B confirm into slide or any recoil namely standing B running B hit into bird made her a real problem, all she has to do is have you flinch once and its bye bye 25% not to forget her jumping heavy a solid air to air, solid throw damage ultra fast run speed, ment it was pretty hard to turtle her down
And of course like you said the infinents, if you’re in the corner and you get thrown it’s pretty much game over
She was hella good in 3 to, but for different reasons.
Most things could be canceled into ground slide or the air version for big damage, when i mean most i mean most things you’d never dream about in other ss games like far heavy slashes ect
She had 3 different versions of the bird A B and C
A being a projectile, much like haohmarus air fireball but better, this this had a little start up but it was still pretty fast it had a good arc it was a great zoning tool, and the cherry on top? if it hits you get a free juggle, namely jumping heavy slash for like 30% life which is pretty stupid, but hey thats ss3
The Other versions were also very good but in different ways and equally as stupid
B was a bird strike which staggers into standing far B into ground slide for beefy damage.
Why is that stupid? because the bird hits overhead, it cannot be blocked low, so what you have is a safe half screen overhead that leads to 35 40% damage, same for the C version just more range and more damage
So i hear you say ok just block high against nako, what lows she got for you to fear?
that’s true running D is a low and it sucks unssafe and does shit damage the only other option is the ground slide which is good damage but unsafe.
AHH there’s a secret weapon to that standing D, looks like an overhead but actually hits low, this kick is straight up ridiculous, i mean at least in kof97 orochi yashiros upclose standing D looks like it hits low
this move does not look like a low at all and further more it does more than twice the damage of running D
And is safe, the only thing that makes this move not broken is you cannot cancel it and it has a little start up, but it’s still a great move
And of course the best thing she has to is that she has a command grab to, which might not seem like a big deal but in 3 is because throws are straight up trash in 3 in fact i would probably say they are the worst throws in any game period, only other game i can think is throws being as bad is fatal fury 3, so having access to a tool that not everybody has is a huge plus, some chracters really can struggle against blocking in 3 having a command grab that does decent damage really can help
She also has one of if not the fastest universal overhead, yes it’s true it’s unsafe but to close out rounds it’s one of the best tools in the game
But yeah new game same old nako problems, should have went with the wolf this time round maybe

Charlotte is probably one of the worst characters to pick if you’re trying to actually learn the game.

Nako needs to take big risks in 5Sp to get anywhere and that’s a game where that’s not a good way to be. She’s pretty good in 4 so if you only care about her then play that game.
