Samurai Shodown Sen aka Edge of Destiny

i can tell you for boss types, both bosses are in a category all their own. it’s the WTF category because they are stupid strong. Draco seems to be stronger than Golba. Draco can shoot unblockable gun fire at you over and over again and even juggle you a bunch of times in a row with it. he is deadly from anywhere on the screen but a little less up close.

Golba has retardedly strong attacks (he is the last boss after all) that take half your life easily. he is annoying to fight against if the AI is using him but i’m sure a human opponent would be easier to beat.

The game has fluency, you just have to play for afew days. When i first picked it up i felt the same choppy type feeling. But once you learn you slash’s and thier range’s it will be alot easier to be fluent. Some slash’s knock opponents away. You wanna use those to make room for your zoning game. This game is 100% about zoning. Always keep poeple at swords tip length. If you are playing online it will make the game feel even more choppy. And with how cheap some poeple play it can get annoying. I would just try to play poeple with four bars and up.

The Online ranking for sen is stupid, Its actully pretty disapionting. The person with the most wins is ranked the highest. So It means that the guy’s who are ranked the highest are just poeple who play the most. The guy who is currently in 1st tokiwa has a 1500 - 2000 record. Also he is on my freinds list and he is not the best ive played. Also i played basara D(ranked 2nd) and he just uses online tatics to win. He beat me with wanfu by spamming 2 moves over and over again. I was excited to play some one so high ranked just to find out the kid is a cheap a## bit##.

Sucks for you; there goes your dreams of getting Sen just so you could be the highest ranked I guess. :coffee:

There you go everyone, yet another good argument for the garbageness of Samurai Shodown Sen.

They would have to wait a long time as KOFXII dropped to $40 the other day. I am willing to wait a long period and I would just buy this game for collection purposes, I might even keep it sealed.

you just need to know where to look. kof12 has been cheap for a very long time online.

No, i could be ranked 1st, its just i wouldnt waste my time. The ranking system just goes by who has the most wins… It doesnt mean they beat the best players, it just means they have more wins than any one else. So if you are in 1st place and you lose to some one in 200th place it will not affect your rank at all. To me this is stupid, and i wouldnt try to get in 1st just because it only proves that the person in 1st is just the man that plays the most.

I would rather just play casual matches, which is what i been doing. My ranked record is something like 100-40. Playing ranked takes too long i would rather skip all the loading time and just play. PLus poeple dont play cheap in casual matches cause it is piontless . So i enjoy casuals much more.

Talking about loading times, how is it? I mean offline how are the load times. Also installig the game shows any performance boost?

Installing game on hard drive and clicking start during loading screens skips them faster

Match vids?

theres like 3 vids on youtube, either no one plays/records this, or they go under different name than “Samurai Shodown Sen” there. Waiting for aformentioned “high-level play videos that will reveal the actual depth of gameplay” as well.

here is afew good japanese tournament matches.

I repost one of my Gamefaqs posts, because I think some people may be interested

Lesphia was introduced in Sen only. Its supposed to be located in Europe, but Golba is a veteran of American War of Independence, thats why his arena and army are located in USA. Golba first weakened countries around the world with various exploits, and then aimed to conquer them, but he needed Suzuhime’s sword as symbol of Lesphia’s ruler (to become one), thus hunt for Suzuhime. He is also her uncle and the one who killed her parents but you probably know that already.

Theres a list of events regarding Sen, which can be found here:
http://www.d1.dion.ne.jp/~latel/samurai/sennenpyo.html

And also summary regarding Golba’s actions around the world:
http://www.d1.dion.ne.jp/~latel/samurai/goruba.html

To put short, it says that Lesphia kingdom is a small country in Europe, which faces the sea. Since Golba’s brother became the prince chosen to be the future ruler (apparently the king - their father - was still alive then), Golba tried to make a coup d’etat, but it failed. Instead of being executed he was exiled from country, hence he came to America and became an officer in american army. During that time he managed to gather some amount of people under his command and also formed an assassin organisation of which Angelica is a member. Next Golba assaults brother and his wife (Suzuhime’s parents) during their sea voyage which leads into the events of Sen. Golba retreats back to USA after failing to obtain Suzuhime’s sword (without which he cannot rule Lesphia). As he also wanted a strong military commander for the Lesphia nation, he also wanted to lure some strong warriors and so arranged most of events mentioned in Sen’s characters storyline intros. During that time he also weakened countries around the world using his military connections and various tricks.

Golba’s objective is to protect Lesphia, then supply it with military power and then conquer the Europe. This is because his participation in American War of Independence made him believe that creation of such powerful nation can become a menace to Europe. Golba does not pay much attention to Asian region since Europe is his main interest.

(The japanese author also states that he thinks putting such boss as Golba in SS series which have many japanese characters is a glaring mismatch)

Timeline goes like that:

Main one: SS1-SS3-SS4-SS2-SS64-SSAZ-(skip 20 years forward)-Shinsho(PSX game)
SNKP one:
-Insert SS5 before SS1
-SS6 is alternate universe based on SS1-2-3-4-5 events
-Insert Sen shortly after SSAZ. Sen is not connected to either storyline aside of miscellaneous things (Kazuki already being separated from his clan, Sogetsu aiming on being his clan leader, Ukyo already witnessing Kei marrying other man, etc)

So basically
1786 - SS5
1788 - SS1, then SS3, then SS4
1789 - SS2
1789~1790 - SS64
1790 - SSAZ
1791 - Sen
1811 - Shinsho (PSX game)

1863 - Last Blade
1863 - Last Blade 2

Thus we see that Sen and Last Blade games are not exactly located in same time period.

Suzuhime, Claude, J and Golba are Lesphians storyline-wise.

^Ouch

This game reminds me of Soul Calibur which is a bad thing. =x

Does this game have finishers besides the hard slash finishers.

I played this shit for 2 minutes at a gathering yesterday. Picked Kyoshiro against some little girl with a HUGE sword. We did some stuff and ended up getting cut in half. Then we played Garou.

I believe the finishers are: blood spray, cut in half, impale, decapitate, cut arm off. Same for all chars

GT Review.

Lol, I see what they did there

That pretty much sums it up.
