Samurai Shodown Sen aka Edge of Destiny

That english announcer is godawful
I think I saw Hae-Ryeong doing a taunt, never saw someone doing that in Arcade mode though.
Hanzo has winpose/winquote straight out of SS2

You know I’m not trying to pull a Emil and say, “The Asians know what’s right and that’s why they dropped this game”. But really…I’m just surprised you guys don’t see what’s going on here.

The game failed and became ignored very quickly after its release in Asia. After a bunch of set-backs SNK finally gets it released over here. Why do you think that is? Why give us this when obviously superior games like KOF02/98 UM stay import only for the most part? Because they know ignorant/clueless Americans will buy it without seeing it for what it really is. And they’re probably right.

Only difference is, no matter how many people are dumb enough to buy into this crap, just like Tim said, people are not going to pay attention because of Super Snore Fighter Bore coming out. So not only does the game suck, SNK ‘wisely’ released it when Americans are going to go gaga over the update to SFIV.

And as much as I like the graphics and how much my capture device would love to have them; saying one is buying a fighting game for the graphics only is just silly. Damn people, wake up. There are other SNK titles far more deserving of our support, especially those with SS in the title.

^^^
I buy fighting games (good, bad or indifferent) because I like to add to my FG library. If I was concerned with only owning the “best” fighting games around I probably wouldn’t have a Neo Geo cab with Karnov’s Revenge and SVC Chaos sitting in my game room. Besides, having shitty fighting games lying around is fun for when someone boasts that they’ll money match anyone in [insert obscure/shitty title] and you happen to have said title readily available.

But Karnov’s Revenge is damn good. And SvC has good points to it, but has flaws you have to objectively acknowledge first before you enjoy it.

Well, the second is pretty subjective and I won’t argue that too much but Fighter’s History is really quite good.

That’s what I try telling people. Game is too damn fun!

I blame the names/character designs for the hate.

Anyone got a copy as yet?

The store I usually go to buy games early don’t have Sen in stock, they probably don’t want to take the risk of this game not selling.

my order shipped today from amazon and it’s supposed to get here tomorrow. i don’t think anyone has a copy yet unless it’s for promotional purposes.

My copy arrives today from Amazon. It’s sad; but due to all the shit this game has gotten, I am genuinely excited to get my hands on it to see how bad it is.

I got my call from ASHLEY FROM GAMESTOP yesterday, hopefully I’ll be playing it in a few hours. I am expecting a trainwreck because the word-of-mouth on this game couldn’t be worse. I will be surprised if its anything but the worst SNK product I’ve ever bought.

If you bought KOF XII, you’re probably not gonna fair any worse here. And I can say that because I bought both of these on their release days, but I cannot play it until tonight. AYCE wings take prioritah!

GameFAQS users vs Sen: Who will win?

bought sen today, wasnt expecting much but you know what? Its alot better than i thought it would be. I have only used kasuki so far and he is pretty awsome. He has enja’s 123 combo  The special moves and command grabs look awsome. I thought it would be alot worst than soulcalibure and really it isnt.

I think only one question really matters at this point:
How’s the netcode?

Well, for one, 98UM is available on XBL (which I own), and 02UM is coming in the summer, so yeah, I’m also supporting SNK’s stronger titles. I know my purchase of Sen won’t do a damn thing to the fact that it tanked; that’s not the reason why I bought it. The fact of the matter is, if a fighting game interest me above the “slightest” margin, I’ll buy it, and Sen wound up sparking my interest, despite me clearly knowing it’s limitations. Is it going to get me shunned, perhaps, but frankly I don’t care. As I played the game a bit more I realized I was actually enjoying playing Sen for what it is; not for what people wanted it to be. It ain’t your normal SamShowdown, and I came at it that way, like how I did for Sonic 06, and I wound up getting a lot of hours out of 06, despite the fact that like Sen, the game bombed completely.

I said it myself in my original post that guys are going to look at people like me who only care for trying and enjoying different things, no matter how negative the game was received, like they were nuts, but that doesn’t change the fact that in my particular case, I found some enjoyment out of a black sheep game, and trust me, when 02UM becomes available in the summer, and if XII lives up to it’s potential, I’ll be buying them as well. That’s just how I am.

After about 45 minutes with it, it’s not ***that ***bad. It is probably the worst SamSho title out; but taking it for what it is, it is kind of fun. Far from the worst fighting game i’ve ever played.

I’m just trying to find a button layout that suits me now. I need to look up the arcade layout.

played it for a couple hours straight on practice mode only so far. it’s not a samsho game but it’s not a bad game. i expected it to play like the average 3d fighting game but decorated like a samsho game and that’s all it is really. there are somethings i don’t like but the game is actually pretty fun. specials aren’t that hard and the just input commands haven’t been a problem for me yet. i’ve only played with jinbei and hanzo so far though.

pros so far:

-amazing modeling for japanese traditional dress. k2 are pros when it comes to that.
-easy commands
-only four buttons
-environments are pretty

negatives so far:

-plays nothing like a samurai shodown game
-everyone has the same throw animation
-genjuro looks like ass
-environments have no background characters

Well, I’ve been spending the time training myself; haven’t even had so much of a run at arcade, let alone playing online. The game’s alright, not nearly the worst fighter I’ve played ever; towards the middle of my bunch. Been playing Rimururu the most and starting to get a small hang of her movelist and juggles. Also switched the button layout to how Soul Calibur IV was since I really didn’t like the default controls. The moves are sorta tighter than I’d like them to, I mean, she’s got two dashing stances that semi-overlap with each other, the Snow Slide (D, DF) and the Ice Slide (QCF), and sometimes doing QCF moves nets me a jump, although I’m VERY sure that’s because of the 360 control pad. The AI’s not too bad either, although it can be a bit of a pain sometimes. Enjoying it so far, so I’m gonna look more into Rimururu & Nakoruru like I planned. Anyone know how the online is so far?

I went into practice mode for about an hour and then played 4 or 5 poeple online. One thing i would like to mention is side step is up N or down N. This messed me up for alittle bit because i was trying to 8wayrun like in sc.

Some characters are really hard to use. Just the ones i have looked at that i thought had tough commands kasuki, hoahamru. Kasuki has aton of JUst input commands, some are easy and some are hard. Hoahmaru has abunch of fastest input moves. Really i couldnt even preform some of his moves. His uppercut is now forward- N-down-down forward fastest input. That sounds easy but with the nuetral it really isnt.

Oh and my xbox 360 controller does that too sometimes  hop when i press dash.

The online is online… its not horrible i would say just as bad as sc4 maybe even alittle better.

So the online is somewhat playable?

yes its fine, illitle bit of delay if you play poeple who live far away. example: i played a guy form texas(i live in ohio) there was noticable delay but not so much that it wasnt fun. Another guy i played was from michigan and there was almost no delay at all.
