When I heard that HNG64 emulation getting alot better, I just had to check this out. I’ve read that you need to patch the first source code to display the 3D graphics for the Samsho titles for the HNG64. However, I have no how I do that. If anyone knows how to do this for a Windows platform, please email me what to do at chikarazero@aol.com (or a link if that is allowed). I’d appreciate it very much.
Back on topic. So it seems that SSSen is getting a bad rep. I’ll definitely will play this when I get the chance. All I need to know is it going to be released for the PS3 in any form?
The Samurai Shodown Sen was a pioneer in bringing arcade operators closer to bankrupcy when it first took arcades by shitstorm over a year ago, and will now be bringing the same kind of derivative spirit as the series will struggle in 3D with usual crappy netcode. Nothing can save you from what is becoming a grim reality. Abandon your hopes and dreams. Prepare you wallet. Samurai Shodown Sen comes. The date - spring of 2010. The platform - Xbox 360. The end of Samurai Shodown you know.
With love, SNK Playmore.
I still can’t believe SNK was serious with this idea. It really looks bland and SNK still can’t hype their games up as a lot of people thought this game got cancelled.
and now after watching the Ukyo vid, It’s jugglevision. wtf SNKP?
Whats worse, the game only has basics and seemingly no learning curve. Its not deep or anything, aside of “who comes up with longer juggle combo”. Even if they build more complex gameplay system using Sen’s current system as basis, it will probably still fall apart. One of big mistakes was to limit all characters to “horisontal slashes” and “vertical slashes” fixing those to two buttons. This results in lots of generic attacks shared between multiple characters, and its not like game has many special moves to cover up for that.
at this point, I don’t even think SNKP cares about their games. But considering how much work they put in the new art for KoFXII makes me think just a small bit otherwise.
I’d look at this game when it gets in the budget bin or something.
I dunno about you guys, but I just hope that the console version of this game isn’t doomed to suck. I mean, can this be classified as SS’s version of Maximum Impact? I would love to see a game like this in tournaments if it’s good.
This can be classified as “SS version of character designs/stages/music only” coupled with unfinished “Soul Calibur gameplay’s version of Maximum Impact”, complete with repeatable normals, combos, and lack of special moves and gameplay depth. It plays completely different to SS game, you may as well take that its some unknown game modded with samsho character models.
Anyone saw Golba doing a single special move? If not, I nominate him for future bottom tier. Well I predict everyone will be playing Ukyo/Kyoshiro/Draco/Nako anyway. Especially with that Ukyo’s 70% combo that can be hit confirmed off of Snowfall special move, and since its a multi-hit with manual hit input, you can confirm whether it hits or gets blocked in first place (if its blocked, you just wont input additional attacks, and opponent wont be able to punish you since he wont know for sure when you are gonna end Snowfall)
Flowchart looks like this:
Spam Snowfall:
Snowfall (connects) -> input additional hits of Snowfall -> Rage Explosion -> a bunch of horisontal slashes -> Snowfall -> [70% damage]
Snowfall (gets blocked) -> do not input all the additional hits, opponent will fear that you will input most of them and will stay blocking instead of trying to punish you.
Companies don’t give the same attention to every title. Even Capcom, a big company, gave SFIV to Dimps to handle, while they focused on (then) bigger titles like Resident Evil.
SNK simply gave this game to K2 (the Tenchu guys) to handle, while their main team handled KOF XII and the usual UM “rehash” team handled 2002 UM.
