Samurai Shodown Anthology

The SSVSp wiki is looking good. Now the only 2 games in the series that need a gaming wiki are Samurai Spirits 2 Asura Zanmaden and Samurai Spirits Tenkaichi Kenkyakuden.

One of which no-one outside of Japan is going to get to play.

That is unfortunate for Samurai Spirits 2 Asura Zanmaden. Although not perfect (and won’t be for a while), SS2AZ is available on MAME. This is probably the best option for a while. I do play it every so often.

I have tested all the normals in SS64/SSAZ/Shinsho(PSX) already (type of hit, effect vs standing/crouching, effect vs standing/crouching on counterhit, and for combo normals - effects versus opponent while he’s experiencing previous hit).
This info wasnt included in guides yet
As for special moves, I so far have info on types of hits only, but havent tested them for effects.

For SSAZ, we would need some kind of netplay tho. Since the game had that non-working start button glitch on kaillera, I guess we could try savestate on select screen/loadstate online,

or else that ClientServerMAME netplay (not kaillera) mentioned here
http://spirits.kaillera.ru/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=10912
(assuming that glitch was purely kaillera-based and wont resurface there)

Would people work on these?

I can see those games getting wikis only after them getting scene = getting some kind of netplay. Making a wiki on a game that most people would only play versus CPU would suggest that most experience-turned-into-new info would come from fights versus CPU. Thats not what we need right now.

Yeah, hard to make a wiki on games nobody plays. And I’m not talking about the doujin titles, Melty Blood etc type “No-body plays”, I mean, seriously nobody plays.

SS Tenka got a bit of tourneys over here, but pretty brief and not even close to what I’d call a scene…only way I could see that done is if we got Asian players in the scene over there to contribute a lot.

I see. That’s unfortunate, but it’s how it is. Sometimes it’s a chicken-and-egg situation where people don’t want to play unless they can learn quick, but a wiki can’t be filled without players first.

This ClientServerMAME might be interesting. Is it better than Kaillera?

I must certainly would. i play SS6 many times and discover alot of stuff all the time. I do understand that not having a scene is a factor to making a wiki. However, we have to start somewhere. Otherwise, people won’t know how to really play the game.

Do you have any other people you know who would work on a Tenka wiki and make sure it can be filled in a reasonable time?

There is possible other person who might help as well. We played Tenka a bunch of times. Some of our matches are on my youtube account. When I get in touch with him, I’ll see what we can do.

I would probably see if there was any way of making a Tenka version of the SS5SP wiki before making it a separate section (since it’d go under the Poverty Wiki anyways)

Samurai Shodown 5 Special ? Introduction Mizuumi.net

How good is the port of Tenka on the PS2 version of Anthology? Is it worth getting if I already have the import of Tenka? The only reason I’d want is so I don’t have to use swap magic every time I want to play. That, and I want to play Special.

Special isn’t on Anthology.

Fair enough. Is it just SS5?

In any case, how about my original question: Is the Tenka port any good for the PS2 version? I know it’s crap for the PSP.

GGPO.net

and, PS2 and Wii ports of SS6 are arcade perfect I think

Yup, PS2/Wii version of SS6 is very accurate to the arcade game, possibly better in some areas. Plus everything is unlocked from the outset. The collection is definitely worth it.

Just placed my order with amazon for the PS2 version. I wish the Sam Sho series had more of a following, they’re great games. Looks like I’ll be spending most of my time in training mode and against the CPU.

Unfortunately, I can’t use GGPO since I have a mac now. I used to own a windows based laptop, but it crashed and I chose to go with a mac.

The samurai shodown anthology is crap on PSP?

Which issues had?
