Samurai Shodown Anthology

I’ve only played Samurai Shodown II and it is such a great game that holds up well till this day. I’ll never trade in my 360 forever just for the fact that it’s on my hard drive. But what I’m wondering is has anybody heard any news on the new one that’s in 3-D? Any good news on that front or does everybody feel they should have went with 2-D gameplay and HD sprites like KOF12?

I think everyone wanted it to be like KOFXII. It turns me off because it feels too much like SoulCalibur. (Even though I think IV sucks big time) Like how they kept the fatalities, feels terrible seein Nakoruru’s arm cut off.

Here’s a vid, just follow the vid creator to see the rest and make up your mind on the game:

Maybe it’s playing at higher level, but I play Samsho/garou/Eternal Fighter every day for at least 4 hours, I got to play the U.S. version of SS6 when it came out.

As far as SS6 goes, isn’t it
Amakusa/Iroha/Mina/Kazuki/Shizumaru for tops?

Yes the tops are like that, in some cases Kazuki is written in high tiers instead of tops.

Except playing on high level, I also read alot of SS-related stuff. Especially asian sites that often have more information that you can find in english part of Internet

Yes, and Iroha is #1, she’s better than Mina. Also he’s right, generally the Asian BBs’s and other sites generally have more info. Also I’d throw Mizuki in there, she’s good enough without the infinite to be in S Class, but also with the infinite as well.

Sam errr… i Shodown

Yeahz !! My Samurai Shodown Anthology (Wii) from Hubba games is coming tomm. according to tracking.

After all these yrs of Hunting arcades & Neorage X emu’s I finally get them all on 1 disc… T _ T

NeorageX emu is hella old now though. It was first emu where you could run SS5sp several years back, but then MAME got 32k build and working SS5sp rom, then era of kaillera, and now era of 2df. Next era of atomiswave (SS6) emulation with possible netplay (atomiswave SS6 comes with english translation) and SSA (that doesnt have netplay) may become obsolete

SamSho VSp on the PSP version of SSA, maybe on the PS2 iso somewhere.

Damn, finally.

So if you had to take a guess, how long do you expect to continue playing this anthology game, seeing as it’s single player only and all?

You will have no luck with SS5sp even if its present on game’s iso, and even if you magage to hack your way into the game to run it, it still wont have unibios and I expect it to be censored from head to toe and with white blood

Btw about single player anthology, I guess for me its single player value is down to playing with all characters to capture storyline dialogues from english version of SS6 and then adding them to character sections of my site (I wont even need to get to the endings since they are unlocked initially, I just will need those 2 dialogues per character)

Dude…play whichever one you fuckin’ like. Quit worrying what other people are doing cuz all the games are good…except 3. God, think for yourself and stop thinking like a tourney-whore.

:looney:

Forever. I’ve been playing Samsho 1 and 2, and 5s emulated on my psp whenever I have a free 10 min-half hour for quite a while now. Having a training mode for trying to try to find combos in samsho 2’s admittedly slightly combo-unfriendly system is a BIG bonus. I just can’t figure out how the dudes doing samsho 2 combo vids can cancel the Galford and Hanzo’s hard slashes after they draw their weapon, but BEFORE THEY EVEN HIT THE OPPONENT, even though the slash still hits somehow. Netplay would would not hurt though. Any reason those crappy Outbreak games got netplay, while no decent ps2 games did?

Okay…I’ll admit, 3 is a matter of preference. Sorry about interjecting mine. I didn’t even know there were people who liked it. I’ve only heard of people playing as a novelty, then quiting.

Try to not double post and I think he was mentioning how you completely flipped on the guy for no reason.

Anyway, netplay’s out of the question. It hasn’t been done for a while now and I think Sony and all third-parties have given up on PS2 Online. Come to think of it, it’s not really profitable except Japan, plus the netplay sucked anyway. (Games like MGO1 were pretty :looney:)

@ koikaze - considering that SS6 doesnt have netplay I wont count it. Out of SS1-SS5p most popular are SS2, SS4, SS5sp. All of them have own shares of fans that think that chapter is the best. You can say they are competitive because many people play them and there are tourneys. If talking from point of balance, SS5sp is most competitive as most balanced.

About character bans, all characters that are initially unlocked, can be used (but no Kuroko in SS2, Zankuro in SS3, etc). About technique bans,

-SS1-2: I am not sure (I think they are too simplistic for that, dont recall any bugs and fishy stuff)
-SS3-4: have lots of stuff and infinites being softbanned in competitive play; SS4 is better because its banned “stuff” is accessible pretty much on highlevel play, and there is lesser of it than in SS3 (where roughly every character had an infinite you could learn in two minutes). Anyway those two games have so much these “hidden features” I cannot recall all of them at moment. In SS4 even characters interact with each other in “unintended” ways, like only Sogetsu’s 14-hitter combo can have its last hit blocked and only by Galford; only Basara can be juggled, etc
-SS5/sp: In original SS5 Yoshitora’s infinite is softbanned, and I recall there were issues with Yunfei endless runaway game (wall jump followed by quadruple flights). In SS5sp only debugging commands are banned (Charlotte, Enja and Galford can access them by inputting long intricate commands; obviously these werent meant to be used as special moves in first place). Well these are also hella hard to input even if someone wants to use them, so there is like 0,0001% chance to see them when you play SS5sp online

I’ll money match anyone in Sam Sho III.

Also, how about this guys? In SS6 console version do you think the console characters should be legal??? (SSV Yoshitora, SSV Mina, SSV Yunfei, the animals lol )

I say, why the hell not? I haven’t seen anything broken for any of the characters that makes them dominate the whole cast, so they should be used. Besides, SSV Yoshitora is my favorite version of him in this game. Being able to combo into his Yugao is a great thing indeed.

The animals are broke. They are god tier.

But seriously, wasn’t SSV yoshitora broken in SSV? Isn’t that the reason they raped him in the first place?

Of course, there’s also the fact characters perform differently in the SS6 system, so even if he’s the same, perhaps he won’t be as dominant in this title, anyway. We need someone to test him out and see before we decide to ban or keep him.
