Samurai Shodown Anthology

i remember those, i swear galford had one to, i remember the enja one was stupidly long, like 15 to 20 inputs long.

seems i was wrong, hcf X3-abd supposedly

Ah, the old law of inverse skill (also known as Equivalent Ability Exchange): people can break down a game’s code at a glance to bend it’s rules, but can’t put together a damn 10-word sentence to convey what they did or how they did it.

I tried hcf + abd and it didn’t appear to work. I kept going into Rage mode. Is there supposed to be some sort of indicator that it worked?

I’m pretty damn sure I copy/pasted from Sihon.net the info in the other sam sho thread long ago. Whatever.

FatalFuryD:

Hey thanks a lot! I’ll try those out later. These work in the ROMs for SS0 and SS0S - does anyone know if they work on SSV for SSA?

Protecting the children has been going on a lot longer than that! I’m a history major from way back…

You need to read history books or watch the History Channel once in a while.

This is by no means a complete list but is a skimming of what’s happened in the past 50+ years…

In the 1950s, the big boogeyman was the comic book industry. (Rock 'N Roll followed later in the decade as a source of teenage rebellion that needed to be wiped out.) Juvenile delinquency and crime was blamed on it. Congressional hearings (led by Southern Democrats) nearly wiped the industry out completely in the US. Nowadays, it’s the stupidity and incompetence of the comic book company officers and editors as well as rehashed, boring and pointless storylines that’s killing the industry.

In the late 1960s, parents’ groups complained about violence in animated shows on TV. That led to crass commercialism (half-hour animated toy specials like GI JOE and Transformers) that peaked in the 1980s. This has relaxed much more lately and the quality of shows today are night-and-day compared to what was run in the 1970s and 1980s. Don’t tell me TV animation was better back then – I lived through it!

Videogames are getting the most attention now because of companies that tempt fate all the time with terminal stupidity in their games (Rockstar) and the fact that the game industry is one of the most lucrative entertainment industries in the world, period. When you’re the big boy, you become a target for everybody with a grievance and are expected to be responsible for everybody else’s kids. You can also blame parents for NOT paying enough attention to their kids and monitoring exactly what they’re playing. The ratings system obviously isn’t enough for some people – now the nanny state has to step in!

And it’s not just in the US where outcries against violence are happening. It occurs in Japan (to a lesser extent), Europe (far more in Germany, btw), and Australia, too…

About so-called hidden moves in SS5sp (were unlisted on official game sites when SS5/sp were released)

Galford:
???+… - Imitate Replica:…
…AC (when hit) …Head
…BC (when hit) …Rear

Hanzo
???+… - Substitution Jutsu:…
…AC (when hit) …Buddha Form
…BC (when hit) …Oni Form

Kusaregedo
???+BC - “Mud” Throw
???N?+CD (super, done close) - Gedo’s Hunt

Nakoruru
???+BC (unarmed) - Dance of Fire Goddess

Rimururu
unarmed dash AC - Frozen God Prank (Head)
unarmed dash BC - Frozen God Prank (Foot)
unarmed dash AC (raged) - Frozen God Prank Storm (Head)
unarmed dash BC (raged) - Frozen God Prank Storm (Foot)

Shizumaru
Hold any button for 81 sec, then release - Level 5: True Fanatic Rainfall Slash

Yoshitora
Show 6 flowers, then ???+BC - Butterfly flying over flowers

List of debugging command special moves, that basically arent meant to be in gameplay.
Only part of them is accessible through complex commands, others can only be accessed through hacks and special programs, but content for them is in game.

Charlotte
??? +AC (do while weaponless)
__??? +BC (do while armed)
___A,A,B,B,C,C,A,B,C,C,C,C… -14-hitter combo…
…A …Combo Finish 1
…B …Combo Finish 2
…C …Combo Finish 3
…D …Combo Finish 4
…AC …Combo Finish 5
…BC …Combo Finish 6
…AB …Combo Finish 7
…BD …Combo Finish 8

Enja
???+ABD - Imperial Fist
(this doubles Enja’s movement speed and also makes his recovery speed 1.5 times faster. Clearly meant for debugging because has same effect as debugging DIP 3-5 which enhance game speed. Banned everywhere because its not even about balance - use of this “mode” causes a number of gameplay bugs and can freeze the game as well. Im not sure this “move” has official command but japanese call it ??? so I just translated that)

Galford
???+AD (do while weaponless)
__???+AD (do while armed) - Plasma Factor

On topic of hidden special moves, Sogetsu’s and Rimururu’s weapon-discarding taunts can damage opponent laying on ground. So basically its possible to kill opponent with a taunt.
Also many characters have hidden win poses if they win unarmed, like Jubei’s sparrows or Amakusa’s portal circle win poses

@ FatalFuryD
If you were into Samsho as much as I was for recent years, you would be just as damn knowledgeable as I am ^^

Good read, sir. Thanks for the clarification and info.

I guess what I was referring to was in my experience how the standard had degraded with the programs and channels I watched in particular. like for example cartoon network, it was literally the channel for anyone who wanted to watch cartoons, be the younger set and the older viewers. Like toonami used to be more open-ended in this aspect and then they later introduced Adult Swim. And throughout the day, they had a variety of programs that could appeal to everyone.

Now, I see they have replaced almost all these intelligent cartoons that could span a variety of age groups (particularly anime) and replaced them almost exclusively with these stupid (presumely American made) swill that I can only assume will keep kids around 5-10 mindset interested. And its not just the content that is asinine, the animation is lazy, the voice acting sucks and the they have no substance at all. And they know they can get away with it because…they’re kids. I do believe toonami was moved to its seperate channel, but I haven’t kept up with it. Also, I’m dumbfounded why we would now have to pay additional money to pay for another channel for wider, more mature viewing interests when it worked just fine years back. Another channel would be Disney.

Also, many of these producers just seem to think that stupid, loud, obnoxious = funny. No, its just annoying. What happened to the producers that made my programs in the past who would put effort into their work, intelligence and wit that could span the age barrier and budget into their animation? Television was always stupid, but now its just so incredibly retarded. At least I save money by not worrying about cable.

As Ultima says: Which Mina? I’ve played her in SSV and SS6, and shes far worse in SS6 believe you me. In 6 she has access to the wakeup unblockable in addition to her EX setting up an easy unblockable to which all of that combos into whatever she delights.

So yes take the advice you are seeing about her in SSV, but keep in mind she’s deadlier in SS6 and there are other things you need to beware of:

  1. Getting knocked down you must choose your fate:
    a. Not teching= Eat unblockable on wakeup
    b. Teching= eat running C if its a short tech, running throw if its a long tech.

Yeah thats right shes got something for all your options. So despite her defense etc, SS6 Mina is superior to SSV Mina. Only thing I like for SSV Mina over SS6 Mina is the instant dive kick. SS6 Mina is superior in almost every way, in addition to the fact that the damage output is less in SS6, this benefits Mina in every way possible. Whenever I play Gualberto I will be sure to play some Tenka and show you this stuff with Mina.

-DG

Fatalities are in. They only seem to happen when playing vs battle or in arcade mode with two human players.

Mina is top tier in SS6, and she is pretty good in SS5/sp as well, but not AS good as in SS6.

I got the game two days ago Found it in my Wal-Mart’s bargain bin for $14.83! :woot:. Like most, I’m disappointed SS5Sp wasn’t included but whatever.

What bothers me is the shoddy translation in SS6, especially survival mode. I had no idea what I was doing in the Japanese version and when I see conditions like “finish haziki” or something like that, I might as well put in my JPN Tenka.

Can anyone help me out please?

Best counter IMO for Mina in SS6 is Iroha lol. Amakusa can do the job without a doubt due to teleports.

I haven’t played Samurai Showdown since the NeoGeo arcade days, how does it hold up now?

Samurai Showdown 1? Holds up perfectly fine to me.

Yeah, i feel its the best 1st attempt by SNK.

Hmm I’d have to give that to Last Blade 1 (with Sam Spirits close behind).

My all time fav is Sam Spirits 2.

Good to hear. Now it’s an impulse buy. I just hope to God they carry it around here. I guess my best bet’s Play N’ Trade, because I was even surprised they carried Arcana Heart of all things!:looney:

Can’t wait to add this to the Fight Club rotation!
