I guess it’s not a bad thing I imported it a while back, then. Not that fatalities are necessary to the game being good, but it’s annoying when a game is censored for no apparent reason.
I don’t know when it started (around 2005, I think?) but America seems to have gotten into this big, “protect the children, censor everything” mentality. Its later spread to the other mediums besides television such a video games. And it seems with every new generation the bar will be raised higher and higher.
Its stupid, I know. Now you guys know another reason why I import more, and why I don’t watch television. Americans are stupid.
Yeah right, children should think that if they punch or stab someone, there will be no blood and violence, they will only see some white censored “sweat” liquid pouring, or nothing at all.
And then some 8 year-old punk will get katana (dont ask me from where, because its from same magic plase they get all their knives, guns and grenades while no one cares) and stabs someone and will be very surprised seeing blood, and everyone will scream “See its those diabolic games guided his hand and his brains” xD
I figured with games like Gears of War, with it’s ridiculous amounts of violence, the USofA was ready for the “graphic” violence of SS.
I guess it’s not a big deal. Between this news and the news of AH2 being a shitty port, i’m saving money.
I don’t get my copy until next week, but someone answer for me please: SS6 on SSA has the bonus characters (Kuroko, the animals and the EX chars), yes or no?
i thought the reason for the censorship was the usual case of SNK censoring like some of their past ports. i can recall there being atleast 2 KOF games that did censor stuff out like Whip’s gun, K9999’s gun super, and Mai’s bounciness.
imo i’m not at all surprised that SNK still does this on home ports of their games.
Censorship Issue
Yea, I have to admit the lack of fatalities (especially in SS2) is a complete disappointment to me. What is the logic behind it? NO ONE outside of the people who remember and cherish this series are going to buy this game because it’s obscure and most gameshops aren’t carrying them! So why the teen rating? The games are still playable and really, really enjoyable but i first played SS2 when i was eleven and the fatalities (along with the bonus icons that come out after the opponent is split in half) hold a very special place for me. Oh well. Just wanted to get that out there…!
Yeah, they’re there.
SSA has SS6 with everything unlocked from the start including endings (but still to understand them you should play story mode with that character and read his dialogues that most probably are connected to ending)
SNK’s logic is:
SS5 = initially censored = no public outcry = good
SS5sp = violent = japanese parents started bitching = bad
SS6 = no violence = GOOD
SSA with censored games = Very Good
Sen = no violence in japanese version = Good
Okay…I JUST got my shit out of the mailwoman’s hands 2 minutes ago. Shipped in a yellow envelope with a bubble-wrap interior…but DAMMIT, I have to go on my weekly, 2-hour shopping trip!! Very NOOOOO! I’ll just put it into the ps2 before I leave.
Have fun man. With all the shit I said it’s still sam sho.
wrd. I noticed. A friend of mine has a few PS2 mod chips lying around. We just haven’t had the time to install them. Otherwise I would have ordered the import… may still.
I’m sad that Samurai Shodown Zero Special (or V Special) isn’t in the collection…
just as a heads up, picked this up for ps2 on ebay for 10 bucks (only 4 dollars shipping within US, 6 to canada). So if there are any Canadians looking to pick it up 16US aint bad. Mine hasnt arrived yet byt looking forward to its arrival
How do you deal with Mina?
Right now, I’m using Yoshitora and Galford and well Plasma Blade is way too slow to nullify projectiles esp since it doesnt hit low either. I don’t what Yoshitora can do that is safe against Mina, I just started to playing this so what do I do?
Take Mina against any good player at http://2dfighter.com , look what they do, then repeat yourself ^^. Also you can play there Samurai Shodown 5 Special which is upgraded and balanced SS5
To fight Mina, you should be efficient at two things: 1)Approaching Mina (hard by itself), and 2)Catching her when she’s open to punish her.
Best methods to approach her are
-non-attacking teleports
-forward roll (because you can avoid ground arrows by it; but not aerial arrows).
Once you drive Mina in corner, she will attempt one of three things:
-Jumping on place with downward arrows (punish her with your longest ranged normal attack in that several frames before her landing; she will be able to block once touches ground)
-Using medium or strong version of Lament of Shinimabui dp+Slash move to runaway (punish her by greeting her with horisontal or upward-aimed aerial slash in middle of her flight)
-Using weak version of Shinimabui dp+Slash move to unexpectedly cross-up you and shoot you in the back. (punish her by reverse blocking the arrow on reachtion, dashing and grabbing her)
Mina has very low defense so she can be killed with minimal number of hits; also her normal arrow attacks dont do any block damage so you can virtually block them forever and she wont do any damage. When Mina is on ground, block low, and when she jumps, block high
-watch out for when they do the side switching move, block the arrow and retaliate
-pick a character with far reaching, damaging fierce slash(genjuro, haomaru etc), dodge one arrow and trade the fierce slash with next one.
SSV mina needs patience but she can go down in 3 attacks.
korean edit
damnit bs why are you so damn knowledgable
edit +1
nako/rim users DO NOT reflect her projectiles
Once you have the lead there’s real reason to attack her, out side of throws ( which are hardly a threat due to her slow dash) and her jumping hs instant overhead (which she needs to be placed perfectly or she eats shit) she cannot do alot do bar chip you to death.
The more mobile your chracter is the easier she is to beat, the closer you are the better just watch out for the jumping hs, she’s shit
yoshi can Rdp ls againest her all day or with ms or hs if you’re in range, galford has to be alot more careful, whatever you do dont do his teleports or you’ll eat hs arrow for 25% everytime she blocks it
Which Mina?
SSV: Walk forward, block all her shit, and punish her. Takes patience but very doable cause she dies in 3 hits.
SSVI: Dunno, haven’t played SSVI. From what I understand she’s a dirty whore since the low damage favours her runaway tremendously.
re: SSVS
I have another question. I saw this mentioned recently, but I hadn’t heard about it before: What exactly are the hidden moves/bugs in SS0S (Turbo Enja, CHarlotte 14 hitter) and how do you do them? I tried searching google, but while I saw a combo vid based on Turbo Enja, the instructions to perform it seemed… spoken by someone who didn’t speak english properly. Either that or I couldn’t get it to work. Thanks.
