heh My first KoTH experience was like this. I enter the room with 4 guys ahead of me. Watch the same dude beat them all spamming Smoke’s teleport. First round he nearly perfects me doing the same thing. Rounds 2 and 3 I used my block button and completely steamrolled him. Then one of the guys who didn’t know how to block beats me cause he now knew to block. Was pretty amusing overall.
I’ve played WoW for 5 years, I’ve played SSF4, BB, and MvC3 online, I even play a little Halo online. And I can say without a shadow of a doubt, this is by far the most salty community I have ever seen. In 2 days, I’ve gotten more nasty messages, people raging on their mics, and ragequits than I have in several months of SSF4, BB:CS, and MvC3.
Just yesterday, for example, I got what sounded like a 13 year old kid saying on his mic “YOU ARE A FAILURE!!!” every 2 seconds, which is totally why I beat him both games >_>
I had some kid cussing me out and calling me some harsh words on xboxlive last night. It didn’t bother me, but all of a sudden I heard a crack sound over the mic. His mom started yelling at him and made him apologize to me. That was the ultimate babality.
problem with new age gamers is that they think they are the best around. some kind of honor in them saying that they cant be beaten by someone whos more skilled.
narrow sighted is what they are…
^that can be said for most gamers not just “new age gamers.”
I assume you haven’t seen The Wizard before. Lucas, bro. Lucas.
This generation of gamers cant handle losing nor want to work at something to become better at it. Its truly pathetic.
Its really nothing new and its not a new generation thing. its been like this forever.
i’m just jealous you guys have been able to play games online.
i’ve tried about 10 times now, and EVERY SINGLE TIME the game has been unplayable because of lag. the kind of lag where if you aren’t blocking BEFORE they jump at you, forget about it, you’re already hit.
i’m not even going to try online again until there is some sort of patch or server upgrade or whatever they decide to call it.
Oh yeah, well I spam ragequits even when I’m winning! I win.
Hmm, I haven’t jumped online yet, but that kinda crap amuses and entertains me. I embrace it, lol. It will probably die down in a few days.
Anyway, some of you need to stop giving the OP a hard time.
Not nearly to this degree. And even when people did, it was mostly just flashes of frustration. These days, gamers who lose take it personally, and it’s kind of sad.
of course not, back in the day fights broke out in the arcade (it was common), now a days we just got dudes calling each other names over the E net.
A guy called me a hacker when I used a babality on him… >.<
Because games these days tend to reward players for bad play.
Fighting games take a special mindset to play-to-win, which includes accepting loss and learning from mistakes.
No one likes losing. No one likes learning because they’re obviously better than you.
Hence, this new generation are spoiled rejects. When long games started having save functions I tell you.
Casuals might even say handicap matches in their favour are exciting and would be happy if they could set that for each of their opponents. ‘i can just play every match when i’m on the verge of victory and get BP(or w/e ranking points) whilst at it. Win’
not rly i can easily compare it by starcraft 1 and sc 2 or old mmorpgs like dark age of camelot and wow. PPL where salty back in the days too but it wasnt that common and the shit talk wasnt insane like that because most 13 year old kids had no internet and good luck getting help or advices nowdays online in games.
Funny thing is I ran into the same sh8t while playing SC BW back in da day, and SC2 is just the same.
Like I said before.
Wow. You are either oblivious and ignorant, a liar, trolling for counter arguments or you love gratuitous sarcasm. I hope it’s the last one.
Regardless you forgot to mention the Rail Gun in your spiel about Quake.
A million times this.^^^^^^^
Well, fact is, the MK fanboy/casual player community IS the saltiest. But the high level MK community, while having its bad apples like any other high level community is a lot different. Like i said earlier, this attitude goes back as far as the arcades did. Same type of attitude from the same type of players you see and encounter in 2011.
The only thing i ask and want to know is, is how you the new (and old) players will change this, this perception of salt.
