If he’s doing LP Slash I believe it’s still safe after the second one.

First may be safe, anything after is always never
I have been lied to! (can’t remember where I heard that though :P)
How many of you guys have access to solid Hakan play? I’m starting to believe that Hakan vs Sak is a 6-4 in Hakan’s favor.
Nah, I play both characters and Hakan tends to crumple under pressure and Sakura has some pretty mean pressure. You just need to be aware of his tricks and what he can do.
I play a pretty good Hakan player quite often. It doesnt really feel like a bad match just dont jump in on the ultra when he falls down…
Remember that I’m talking about things beyond the U2 or things like that. I mean Hakans who can use crisco focus cancels to use 360 as AAs and beyond.
After a few matches I was like…
- I can’t zone him anymore as he will build meter and oil now that he can do it from full screen safely and it stacks. I tried once and got a 30sec oiled Hakan to fight.
-While he does that he can full screen EX Slide to punish any fireball of out of range c.mk or s.hk on reaction, into a knockdown and mixups.
-From close range I was getting out poked by oiled Hakan’s moving normals, crisco counters with 4x c.lk xx slide (it combos now), focus, or even 360s outside the s.hk range. - Knockdowns leads into mixups, tick throw setups, meaty oil dives, OS slide vs backdash.
- And when finally I got the pressure and mixups, if he was oiled (which he was, almost at all times with the stacking oils) not only I had to worry about his gdlk range on the 360, when I tried a basic grappler mixup when I expected the 360, he crisco focus into a low short, went behind Sakura’s nj.hk and then 360 me. I was like “daaaamn, I got anti aired 360, wtf!”
Hakan had potential in Super and received nothing but amazing buffs in AE. I’m really scared of AE Hakan, he will be mad dangerous once developed.
Crisco means Hakan’s Focus Dash Normal Cancels and Dash Normal Cancels. While oiled he can cancel any dash at any normal at anytime. Shoutouts to Ultradavid!
Hakan’s DDT setups are easily countered if you can see them coming, which you usually do since they’re usually telegraphed by whiffed normals (e.g. whiff s.HP > HK Oil Dive after Oil Slide > Body Press). They’re not invulnerable by any means but he probably is already airborne so EX Shou would probably be a waste, crouching attacks skip out that single frame you’re standing up so mashing c.LP will get you out of it. Back dash should work too, have 8 frames of invincibility where Oil Dive is only active for 4 frames.
I’m unaware of Oil Slide OS, have to look into that one. Highly doubt it’s an OS that includes a DDT setup though.
You need to rush that shit down, don’t give him a chance to oil up. Push him into the corner and poke him to death if you must. Does sound like a very good Hakan though, CRISCO and DNC combos are both very hard to do. BTW I don’t think anyone actually uses CRISCO combos, that’s EX Focus Cancelling a normal then cancelling the dash into a normal to allow two normals to combo. DNC is more useful as you can combo a FA1 hit into a c.MK xx Oil Slide > Body Press, that’s very nasty if they can do it. Using DNC to anti-air is also pretty awesome and hard to do, I believe the c.LK is guaranteed if done right and if you’re being c.LK chain poked you should be expecting to get SPD’d so might as well hold up and hope. Worst case scenario he reads the jump and Air Throws you
I’m also pretty sure c.LK doesn’t combo into slide and is non-cancellable. Besides it’s chained when oiled so the cancel isn’t allowed after chains. c.LP and f.LK can both cancel (and combo) into LP Oil Slide. To hit confirm into them you’re looking at one or two unplinkable 2-frame links or an unplinkable 1-frame link.
Man, no knockdown on ex hand from gief makes the Gief-Sakura match muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch better. Did a set with TFA Weaponsleft, and went 40-6 against him. While he is still learning the match up, he usually a lot better against me. Like, I would throw fireballs at him just so that ex green hand would hit me, just so that I could zone him out again.
The he did switch to ultra 2 a third of the way in, and that actually stopped a lot of my jump in set ups against him. I don’t know if this happened in super, but the tatsu to ambiguous j.fierce in the corner can be U2’d. Though we did have a match where I was jumping out of the corner and he did U2. I mashed normal air tatsu and floated above him lol. But we played so much after that match, that it got lost.
For Yun, if he’s doing a divekick that hits your head/shoulder, do st.hp if they try to cr.lk afterwards, you’ll get a CH combo but be careful that they don’t DP afterwards.
lol I’ve been thinking the same for some reason the Gief match is alot easier for me. That damn ultra too is serious though. I got stuck in the corner against Evanderson360 and he was coming at me with EX green hand in corner and if I jumped Ultra 2. What would you guys do in that situation since they can now control russian skies?
id say the gief matchup is pretty even now. it used to be a 6-4 at best in giefs favor but now they have to resort to bigger risks
Gief is still a bad matchup
Skatan keeps it real
Gief is a horrible matchup. You are playing the wrong giefs.
I find it hard to out zone against Fei Long, all his pokes are better, and he can always random rekka for free damage, any tips against fei long?
+1 Skatan and DanielRGT. I more scared of AE Gief. ;_;
nj.mk can be good sometimes in that matchup, since it has a hitbox that hits behind sakura if fei goes under her, she can use it against random rekkas, if you learn the rekka’s range you can do this to great effect. I don’t do very much zoning against Fei. You can safe-jump fei so if you score a knockdown don’t let up on him. Against Fei’s that use a lot of c.mp/c.hp whenever I’m in close I back up and do s.hk as a whiff punish.
Good tip thanks.
By the way, to add to this thread. As per Uryo’s Shadowloo 2011’s performance. E.honda’s headbutt and 100 hand slap seems punishable by hp SRK on block.
