Sakura Setups and Safe Jumps

If i remember correctly i remember doing a nice safejump setup on Blanka which involved j.mk & j.hp but i didn’t write it down will try remember what it was later.

Oh and what is the E.Honda setup? You should probably update your post/list on page 2 as well so newer people can see it. :slight_smile:

Anyone know a good safejump 50/50 setup against E.Honda?

He is the only character that i do not have a Otoshi corner safejump setup for.

Idk bout 50/50s but I mean you don’t even need a setup to safejump Honda. Ex headbutt is slow as butt.

Its slow (8 frames) but ALWAYS god damn auto corrects… deals quite a bit of chip too… be nice if there was a consistent setup that made it whiff and also a nice 50/50 would be awesome because I hate Honda’s so much x_x

Just put out a meaty lvl3 fireball, mash some unmapped buttons, and prepare to punish!

I mean safejumps are fine. In the corner you can punish ex headbutt on block, so that’s a plus… Especially if you have ultra. Meaty fireballs are fine also.

I just wouldn’t cross him up. You can still do some pretty ambiguous j. Fierces that are safejumps and will keep you in front, and you don’t need a setup or anything.

Actually, I have a question. I assume meaty low shorts work vs headbutts. But can Honda Ochio your low shorts?

I used to think Honda was bad for Sakura, but after becoming friends with the best Honda i know of in Michigan (one of the better players in general) and got more experience I don’t think it’s bad at all. But since i’ve been picking up a bit of gouken lately I may end up playing him in the matchup just because it’s like 7-3 (I like 7-3s)

Ochio doesn’t have invincibility, so no. Any meaty will stuff it.

Alright guys, after about 8 hours of experimenting, I discovered a safe jump that works on nearly the entire cast. It is a standard safe jump so it doesn’t make 3 frame dp’s whiff.
This is a 4+ frame safe jump that only works Midscreen.

Ex tatsu > dash > sweep > slight step back > j. Hk

The slight step back allows the j. Hk to connect (it whiffs normally) and will stuff lots of reversals as well. I found some variations of this that would make 5 frame reversals whiff but it was so character and combo specific that I think this setup is optimal. The timing of the step back is a bit tricky but if you jump into training mode, it becomes easy. I can post a video if you guys want.

I can totally feel you on that. And it still kinda baffles me why I have such trouble with good T-Hawks. I mean, he really doesn’t seem like he should be all THAT hard.
