Sakura buffs/changes

Bingo (ish). 'cept that most characters don’t seem to follow this “rule”, or maybe most do and a few really fuck it up…

What’s easier? EX Shunpuu > dash to Ultra or Abel’s c.HP > Ultra? Guess you could argue that Abel can’t hit confirm into a c.HP and needs to FADC a CoD into it costing 2 bars instead of 1… but I feel the situations are somewhat similar and Abel gets huge damage on his. Now we have Dee Jay being able to hit confirm into EX Sobat(sp?) Kicks into Ultra, his Ultra appears to do more damage than Sakura’s.

Anyways I digress, the damage on Sakura’s current Ultra would be more justifiable if it had more than one way to combo into it (outside of FA crumple and late j.HP/j.HK). It does a little bit more than Ryu’s Metsu Hadouken but has a lot less applications.

They should either up the damage of the current ultra or make it more comboable, then have the new Ultra be the “opposite” in that respect. Just pretty hard to find more combo situations with her moveset (EX Hadouken FADC would be one).

But then Abel has like no real hit confirms and shitty anti airs, so it’s kind of fair.

I can see where you guys are coming from where you say you like Sakura the way she is. Now I see that you guys want some things changed, but I would like some of the same things. For one her fireball is bullshit. B-u-l-l-s-h-i-t. Bullshit. The only time I use it is when I think that my opponent is jumping in, which i dont need to use it even then because Cr. HP kicks the shit out of most things anyway, and you dont have to use it to end a combo becaue her tatsus are so good. It has a small use but her recovery is so bad that I dont want to use it. Now I know that Capcom is not big on the story, but she is older so I dont see why she shouldnt be a better character. She should have a little more life and a better way to deal with fireballs. One of the more important things to me is to give her a better ultra. With these things I would have no problem dealing with any character.

i say give her her multiple upwards hadoken from the marvel vs capcom 2 game. cause that ultra in this would be so dope with her EX hurricane kick to knock them in the air then hit them with the ultra. or make it a single fully charged aerial hadoken that starts a cinematic for more fireballs in creative ways

Better fireball. A crossup with better hit stun. Faster st. RH. A more damaging ultra.

that’d be stupid… it’s the exact same setup as her current ultra so whichever one does the most damage is now the only one worth doing…

Her other ultra must become that shoshosho Cvs2 a-groove business that works just like dans current ultra (except it can’t be FA’d :rofl:**)does like 50 hits and deals 600 damage or more and involves several panty shots.

edit: I changed my mind, it’s not so stupid but it is redundant… angled hadoukens replace the ultra she has now, its crap anyway… at least with the hadoukens she’ll have an AA ultra. It’ll probably still do shit damage.

I think she needs an ultra that somehow incorporates the flower kick/panty-shot deal.

Serious question and I’ve always felt this way, what is the point of sakura?

I get Ken and Akuma it’s easy to headswap them back when they used sprites but Sakura just makes no sense to me.

Please don’t flame I want a serious response.

By that reasoning, what’s the point of any character that wasn’t originally a headswap of Ryu?

Well you see, other characters like for example chun-li have their own moveset and some significant role in the story.

Reverse Fireball + P = Diagonal Fireball like in the Marvel Games with the range and chargeability of her Alpha/SF4 fireball (hold button down)

With her EX Shouken being her Midare Zakura, likely her New Super and Ultra will be the Shinkuhadouken. As a nod, I would love if the Ultra version was like the Kogogenryu super fireballs in the AOF and KOF games. Would make her Ultra strictly different from Ryu’s. Bigger hitbox on fireball, worse startup, faster travel-time, only connects for one Hit.

Sakura is a huge Street Fighter fangirl who follows Ryu around. That is her role in the story. As far as game design, she is like Dan in many ways. Dan is an amalgamation and Parody of Ryo and Robert from AoF (Art of Fighting) and KoF (King of Fighters). AoF was designed by the guy who made the first Street Fighter as a pseudo sequel. Sakura is a homage and parody of Yuri from the same series, Ryo’s sister and Robert’s love interest. SNK’s answer to Sakura was to give Yuri in KoF and alternating super dragonpumch in the KoF series; one game it will be like the Shinshoryuken Ryu has, the next it will be like Ken’s Shoryureppa but for seven Dragon Punches to be rediculous. It switches from Shinshoryuken parody to Shoryureppa parady from KoF game to KoF game.

That is the point of Sakura.

And she is allot of fun, propably one of the most unique Shoto copies in the series.

keep her how she is but let her overhead link into a combo, then she would be beastly.

Main improvements she needs, in my opinion

  1. Increase the range of c.HP
  2. Speed up s.HK
  3. Make j.MK crossup
  4. Speed up c.HK, make it safe on block
  5. Speed up the overhead, make it -1 on block

After playing some Sakura today, a couple needs came to mind.

  1. Make her crossup better.
  2. Fix her EX Hurricane kick so it doesn’t wiff after the first hit on some characters.

Giving her a better crossup would be a big improvement that wouldn’t totally change her playstyle or anything, I think it’s a reasonable request.
