I wish my footsie game was that solid.
Heh with that much BP you’d think his AA would be more on point, you got away with a lot of jumps and Air Knees. Were some points where you could have punished harder (won the round quicker) and think you could have been a bit more aggressive at times but was a good methodical approach and you were on point with your AA KRK, slow and steady wins the race
BTW how does s.MP fair against Ken’s f.MK? I use it a bit as a counter-poke since the striking arm has no vulnerable hit-box it enables you to hit limbs a fair bit.
Got some ranked matches from Sugami-san:

There’s a nice trade Ultra against Seth, stolen out of Ryu’s old book of cheap tricks
Viper was tricky, trying to find gaps to attack, missed FADC Ultra twice Learned the hard way that you can’t jump in between two Seismic Slams if canceled
They made a pretty big mistake at the end that cost them the match
Edit: Wow, it turned the youtube URL into a properly named link :wow:
for some reasons i’m more confident to jMK > crMK > gadoken, even though it deals less damage, I like that they have to crouch to block so I can also mix it up with a tick throw.
my fault if you all know but search STRIPFIGHTERIV and Xiahou Mao on youtube, super fucking solid Dan play, oh and sugami you real good too.
Thanks and XHM does post around here too
Is this Daigo VS a VERY good Dan?

You may or may not have noticed, but Sugami is the one who’s been hosting my recent videos on Youtube. So yeah, we know of my videos, but it still helps to fill my Saikyo-sized ego to hear people talk nice about me!
And speaking of my ego… I’ve seen this video, and Stripfighter deserves full credit for getting the win, it just bugs me a little seeing him mash uppercuts out during combos. And this isn’t the only video of his I’ve seen him do it in. Now, I’m far from a saint in that regard, you’ll see me do that too on occasion, but it’s just that: on occasion. Or against Blanka. But mostly on occasion. It seems to me that a lot of his game is mashing out uppercuts when the opponent gets an advantage, and that’s not a good habit. So by all means, watch his games, and glean what you can from them, but keep the mashing in moderation.
(also: he needs to taunt more. And by more, I mean even just once. Imagine how much hype the internet would be over that video if he snuck in a taunt! I’d totally taunt Daigo before he inevitably destroys me, just as I’ve taunted Shiine, Arturo and the other tourney players I’ve faced online! )

haha naw i didnt notice i was watching the matches through sf4 tube on my phone at work, all i have to say is good shit.
Could be Daigo, might not be Daigo, still a good player either way you look at it. The fireball wars was pretty funny, they did like 3 or 4 of them in a row and he wasn’t backing down
He does play pretty risky, KRKs after Dankuu a fair bit, especially the HK version. Think Shissou was the wrong choice, even though he managed to read a fireball and land it once. Pretty sure he did a KRK FADC in the corner, would have been Haoh time if he had it then. Only saw him mash out a KRK once, that was after Ryu’s j.LK so he could just have good eyes.
Jump back Taunt, easiest way of getting a taunt in at the start of the match if you really want to squeeze one in Might play some mind games on your opponent as well, if they see you taunt from the start they might think you’re just going to taunt the whole time and not pay attention or something
OH WAIT, zHIzzO BURAIKEN IZ USELEZZ AGAINST PRO PLAYERZ…
Look at Stripfighter’s other videos and he barely ever lands his ultra whereas he always lands his KRK FADC.
lalalalalalalalalala…you said something??..lalalalalalalalallala
Got some games from XHM :bgrin:
You might think I’m doing you a favour uploading your games but I’m sure I’ve had people subscribe to my channel just for your videos

Just to answer the question posed on the Youtube channel, since I don’t have an account there to post myself, my PP value tends to range between 2500 and 3500. It’d be staying towards the upper end if I didn’t fool around and do Random select a lot of times. I’m working towards C to Shining C in the most lackadasical of fashions, by earning points for everyone via Random, and I have between 300-1000 BP with all the other characters now as a result (Honda and Hakan are second and third place in BP, oddly enough). That said, my PP takes hits when I draw characters I’m not particularly good with, like Cody.
I’m #2 on the XBL leaderboards now, with StripfighterIV still in front, but I’m not sure he’s been playing lately. He lost about 800 points after hitting A rank and has been stuck just under 14200 for a couple of weeks now. I’m still gaining points at a slow but steady pace, but I’ve also been distracted by Dragon Quest IX over the last couple of weeks, which is cutting into my Saikyo time.
As for the actual replays, in the first Ken one I got a little annoyed by his running away and how he mashed an uppercut through one of my first jumpin combo attempts, so I decided to give him a taste of his own medicine. I showed off the anti-crossup wakeup Haoh Gadoken (which will work once on everyone), in round 2 I gave him a taste of his own mashing medicine (w/followup taunts, of course), and then in round 3 I mocked him by running away/turtling when I could’ve easily finished him off. All in a day’s work!
In the Cammy game I was getting too attached to advancing via Dankus, and was eating Cannon Spikes as a result. I made some stupid mistakes in round 2 but survived anyway. The reason I wanted to share that replay, obviously, was for the end. Presents for everyone!
The Dan vs. Dan was, well, Dan vs. Dan. The other player didn’t seem to want to taunt, but I’m always happy to make up for lost time and show them exactly what they’re missing. I actually joined that player’s lobby yesterday (forgetting who he was, as that replay is from some weeks back) and he booted me out, apparently he remembered the game better than I did. Dan players shouldn’t be poor sports! And yes, at the end of that game I quite deliberately did the tiny jab punishes to reduce his health just so I could go for the Legendary Taunt. That doesn’t make me a horrible person. Does it?
You say that but I’m sure there are people who it’ll work on all the time until you tell them how to avoid it Like with Sakura I can do EX Shunpuu and reset with a s.LP and dash under them, I can do that all day long and some people just don’t have a clue to defend against it
Once bitten, twice shy, huh? No, it doesn’t make you a horrible person, it makes you an awesome person. He more than most should understand it’s our main goal to get a Legendary Taunt win :bgrin:
Huh. I did a search for videos with my name posted in the last day to find Sugami’s on getting home from work just now, and multiple results came up instead. I guess this means I have more videos for people.
- Another Dan vs. Dan mirror match, from an Endless Battle I was invited to a few days ago. I don’t remember if SCWarlock is from SRK or GameFAQs…
Okay, nevermind, just that one video. The other video is an older one, one of the vs. Bison games Sugami already uploaded. Someone apparently found it on the Replay Channel…
That Cammy battle was classic.
Also illustrates one of the most frustrating things about Dan… his limited normal game. If he could link stuff you didn’t need to do in a ridiculous frame window… he would be as abused as Ken online. The assholia in that Ken match where he did the “turtle/run away” game was hilarious too. Loved all the taunting. One day, I will reach the heights of XHM.
Easiest way to find your replays would be to search my channel YouTube - smugami’s Channel
That other Dan just attacked you out of nowhere. I was going to say it’s not very Dan-like but distracting you with taunts then sneaking a quick attack in probably is very Dan-like Got a Legendary Taunt finish for his troubles anyways
I’ve been using the s.MP > Kouryuken link more lately, it’s 3 frames so pretty easy to land and combined with a jumping attack it’s pretty easy to confirm as well. Ontop of which I’m only really doing it when I want to FADC into Ultra so if I mess it up it doesn’t really matter either. Just a real shame it’s inconsistent after cross-ups
Ken’s links aren’t all peaches and cream. For a start he can’t link into Tatsu on crouching opponents, c.LP > c.MK is a 2-frame link and s.LP misses crouching opponents. c.LK > c.LP is a 1-frame link and hard to confirm. I think Sakura has the best links (for hit comfirming) in the game, I really feel the lack of decent links when playing Juri, if Juri had links like Sakura she’d be a lot meaner.
