I never actually played vanilla so I really can’t say much. I was hoping on them removing the nerf on his low ts but I’m gonna play him regardless. Btw jiji is one of the top sagats on this forum. Who cares if he starts a thread stating his opinion??? Why does out matter to people who don’t even play him? shit I will make a post on whatever the fuck I want its up to the mods to decide if its appropriate.
Hey this is a serious recommendation. Sagat of right now is very balanced. but he needs some serious minor tweeks.
- need original SF4 standing light kick back.
or - make St roundhouse more easily cancelable. or better hitbox on start up
right now standing roundhouse whiffs on many crouching characters. and no good way of getting damage off of cr. lk.
also because standing roundhouse start up cancelable frames is so bad. Angry scar is almost never used!
So instead of changing Angry scar damage, buff standing roundhouse start up but leave anti air hit box the same.
In this way, Sagat remains heavy execution while being able to deal out reasonable damage at close range.
standing lk needs change to either hitbox, or making it a 1 hit move. sagat cannot beat most pokes.
giving him this poke, means that he has a tool to use but will not be able to get damage off of it, which is good. like dhalsim standing lk
Well , looks like Fei got hit hard. Akumas vortex and set ups have been slightly nerfed too. All im waiting for is the Dudley and Ibuki changes. I have a feeling Dudley will get buffed but if they nerf them both slightly it will be very good for Sagat… still im still of the idea that buffing all characters to a good level is alot more fun/creative for the game then nerfing all characters. but oh well, we shall see. and yeah I agree with mvskokee , the low tiger shot in vanilla was beautiful , it messes up so many kara set ups now with the stupid recovery on low ts . it really was never that good to begin with , fireballs are nothing in AE to most characters.
Your first idea might be possible, but you have to keep in mind that Sagat is the worst match-up for every grappler (except for Hakan) usually being 7-3 in Sagats favor.So giving him lk cancel back would make it even harder for them to get in on him.This would mean that he would need a nerf to compensate or the grapplers all get buffs in some area.
Changing RH hitbox is a bad idea. T.Hawk and Zangief got buffs to some of their hitboxes so they could finally avoid that standing HK if spaced properly. Giving extra cancel frames might be a good idea, but leave the hitbox as it his.
some people are really ungratefull, crying after their char gets no nerfs and a buff.
Im sorry , where were you in vanilla? and where were u in ssf4? My character has been suffering from his over nerfing for 2 years , 10 damage to angry scar uppercut is not a buff whatsoever. hes exactly the same from the moment they over nefed him. Am i mad at that ? yes. unless youv been with the character and mained him since vanilla then u have no right to say anything because u havent experienced the biggest nerf to any character in ssf4 and what it can mean .
I believe Guile would like a word with you, Sagat is stronger than he was im AE because of netfs to others. Potential to be a top 5 character…the level of immaturity/entitlement you’re putting off is nauseating.
You can’t expect Capcom to buff everyone to the same level without asking for money (and Much more time). They would essentially have to go back to the drawing board, there are countless matchups/variables to consider when changing the game on that level. Even with the time matchups are likely to be broken because with all that testing you still won’t catch everything so there will need to be a patch for the patch later on…the ends wouldn’t justify the means by a long shot.

What’s up Guys, I’m new to SRK, and I thought I would drop a few lines on here since Sagat is one of my 2 mains. I’m very, very relieved he hasn’t been nerfed, he was overly nerfed in Super, so seeing no nerfs is good and I would say Sagat is a very, very solid character. However I would like a few tools given back to Sagat without people bitching and complaining about him.
I seriously think he needs his Standing Short back to a one hit and special cancelable like in Vanilla, It was amazing in Vanilla and it is pretty much useless, for me at least other then using it to stuff Focus Attacks, another buff would be to make his Uppercuts do damage again, Light TU does 120, Medium does 140, Heavy does 160 and EX 200, it brings it along the same lines with the other Dragon Punches. I would prefer it to be one hit but I would settle for it to be like Ryu’s, 2 hits but you can only FADC on the first hit, before people say that Angry Scar on top of that would make his Uppercuts OP, remove the move then, I believe it’s a useless move, I don’t see anyone use it other then to make people scared of unsafe jump in’s since they don’t want to get AA DP.
If those were given to Sagat I think that would be perfect, he would be very strong but not overly dominant, but if Capcom don’t do that, fine I can live with it as long as Sagat doesn’t get any more nerfs.

He already very strong, but you’re used to V Sagat so you feel like he needs buffing. Imo a character that got nerfed like V Sagat was never supposed to be like its original. The latter versions are more of what the developers had in mind. Ofcourse I cant explain why Gouki got nerfed so hard, but I believe that they have their reasons for it. Why would you want to buff a character that top 10 as it is? Its like giving Viper viable pokes or Gouki a overhead demonflip-palm (havent decided yet if I should laugh at Gouki or cry with him).
Angry Scar can be used if you have full super, since every Tiger shot you throw while having full super isnt building meter. So its creates some sort of 5th EX bar to maintain maximum efficiency (yeah I just said that). Also, it gives Focus Break property to TU so its more helpfull vs Boxer. For every other case its pretty useless, I agree.
I wouldn’t say I’m more used to Vanilla Sagat, while I played Vanilla quite a bit, I played Super a lot more so I was more used to Super Sagat, but I did miss his tools that he had from Vanilla, but you are right that they shouldn’t be making the other characters better while some other characters need tweaking and improvements over the higher ranked characters but like I said it would be nice for him to get some of his old tools back since mostly everyone is getting better but again as long as he doesn’t get nerfed I’m perfectly happy.
About Angry Scar, for me at least I rarely do have a full Super since I have a bad habit of throwing EX Tiger Shots a lot lol but that is a somewhat use for it but I still stand by what I said that other then a very few uses and I mean few they might as well get rid of it. (Also lol at Akuma, I feel bad that he got nerfed but since he is a bad match up for Sagat, anything that makes it easier for me is welcomed with open arms =D)
Fair point , guile did get it pretty hard. Anyways its looking like the end of SSF4 for me , the game is really stale and im enjoying 3S online too much. heres hoping for a clean sagat in SFx Tekken
i was mad salty when i saw that all he got was +10 tp as dp. but the good news is fei long got nerfed and akuma copped it hard i kinda feel sympathy for akuma i think the throw nerf butchered the character but hey nerfed another bad match up. Imo sagat should have been given back his slk as he really struggles at the one range thats where characters like fei akuma vega ken rape him that being said i think sagat will be in the top 8 the way its looking i mean gief will surely be top tier and sagat will still control the bastard. viper also got nerfed a little which may make that matchup 5.5 to viper or even who knows. the characters im worried about are as follows Dudley ibuki evil ryu(yes i think he may get some buffs making him dangerous to sagat) yang (not sure how that will turn out) Abel has always been a struggle for sagat. im questioning so others as well but dont wanna go on too much about it. As for this whole argument in the thread Jiji bro i know the pain you’ve been through with sagat I too mained sagat from day 1 bro the sagats remaining have all worked super hard i know that because to stay competitive in super was pushing shit up hill the only sagat for most part of super that was holding his own was bonchan and that took a long time. and we did not see sagat win a major at all in super or in ae. Rf came close but tbh sagat is going to be strong in this game unless something ridiculous happens. i don’t think his roundhouse aa properties should change just the knee hitbox should be buffed so that it can hit cr characters better.

no i mean when it doesn’t hit **at ALL. **try close standing roundhouse against guy or any number of crouching wierd hit boxes.
for a move that is suppose to make a character stand up on hit, it doesn’t eve HIT crouching characters! as a combo move it only combos off one cr short (close st rh i mean) and even then it whiffs on like 80% of the cast! sure far st rh whiffs but thats expected
i don’t think that both hits should hit of course that would be too good.
i think there are 2 potential fixes that would make this move pretty good.

allow cancel ability on far standing rh which in essence would only allow tk or fireball to hit so no big damage from insane ranges.

fix of close standing rh lower intial hitbox so that it can hit more of the cast also this fix would make angry scar an actual potential. (but even then high exectuion means that ex tiger uppercut would always be preferable) still that’s a thought. however this wouldgive sagat a moderate difficult BnB that would also (IMO) give him a damage but not be overly powerful.
